    Status of the Cylindical-GEM project for the KLOE-2 Inner Tracker

    The status of the R&D on the Cylindrical-GEM (CGEM) detector foreseen as Inner Tracker for KLOE-2, the upgrade of the KLOE experiment at the DAFNE phi-factory, will be presented. The R&D includes several activities: i) the construction and complete characterization of the full-size CGEM prototype, equipped with 650 microns pitch 1-D longitudinal strips; ii) the study of the 2-D readout with XV patterned strips and operation in magnetic field (up to 1.5T), performed with small planar prototypes in a dedicated test at the H4-SPS beam facility; iii) the characterization of the single-mask GEM technology for the realization of large-area GEM foils.Comment: 4 pages, 10 figures, Presented at Vienna Conference on Instrumentation (Feb 15-20, 2010, Vienna, Austria).     Double-Pionic Fusion of Nuclear Systems and the ABCEffect -- Aproaching a Puzzle by Exclusive and Kinematically Complete Measurements

    The ABC effect - a puzzling low-mass enhancement in the ππ\pi\pi invariant mass spectrum - is well-known from inclusive measurements of two-pion production in nuclear fusion reactions. Here we report on first exclusive and kinematically complete measurements of the most basic double pionic fusion reaction pndπ0π0pn \to d \pi^0\pi^0 at 1.03 and 1.35 GeV. The measurements, which have been carried out at CELSIUS-WASA, reveal the ABC effect to be a (ππ)I=L=0(\pi\pi)_{I=L=0} channel phenomenon associated with both a resonance-like energy dependence in the integral cross section and the formation of a ΔΔ\Delta\Delta system in the intermediate state. A corresponding simple s-channel resonance ansatz provides a surprisingly good description of the data

    Exclusive Measurements of pp -> dpi+pi0: Double-Pionic Fusion without ABC Effect

    Exclusive measurements of the reaction pp -> dpi+pi0 have been carried out at T_p = 1.1 GeV at the CELSIUS storage ring using the WASA detector. The isovector pi+pi0 channel exhibits no enhancement at low invariant pipi masses, i. e. no ABC effect. The differential distributions are in agreement with the conventional t-channel Delta-Delta excitation process, which also accounts for the observed energy dependence of the total cross section.     Polarisation of the omega meson in the pd-->3He+omega reaction at 1360 and 1450 MeV

    The tensor polarisation of omega mesons produced in the pd-->3He+omega reaction has been studied at two energies near threshold. The 3He nuclei were detected in coincidence with the pi0pi+pi- or pi0gamma decay products of the omega. In contrast to the case of phi meson production, the omega mesons are found to be unpolarised. This brings into question the applicability of the Okubo-Zweig-Iizuka rule when comparing the production of vector mesons in low energy hadronic reactions.Comment: 11 pages, 4 figure

    Measurement of the Slope Parameter for the eta->3pi0 Decay in the pp->pp eta Reaction

    The CELSIUS/WASA setup is used to measure the 3pi0 decay of eta mesons produced in pp interactions with beam kinetic energies of 1.36 and 1.45 GeV. The efficiency-corrected Dalitz plot and density distributions for this decay are shown, together with a fit of the quadratic slope parameter alpha yielding alpha = -0.026 +/- 0.010(stat) +/- 0.010(syst).     Precision measurement of σ(e+eπ+πγ)/σ(e+eμ+μγ)\sigma(e^+e^-\rightarrow\pi^+\pi^-\gamma)/\sigma(e^+e^-\rightarrow \mu^+\mu^-\gamma) and determination of the π+π\pi^+\pi^- contribution to the muon anomaly with the KLOE detector

    We have measured the ratio σ(e+eπ+πγ)/σ(e+eμ+μγ)\sigma(e^+e^-\rightarrow\pi^+\pi^-\gamma)/\sigma(e^+e^-\rightarrow \mu^+\mu^-\gamma), with the KLOE detector at DAΦ\PhiNE for a total integrated luminosity of \sim 240 pb1^{-1}. From this ratio we obtain the cross section σ(e+eπ+π)\sigma(e^+e^-\rightarrow\pi^+\pi^-). From the cross section we determine the pion form factor Fπ2|F_\pi|^2 and the two-pion contribution to the muon anomaly aμa_\mu for 0.592<Mππ<0.9750.592<M_{\pi\pi}<0.975 GeV, Δππaμ\Delta^{\pi\pi} a_\mu= (385.1±1.1stat±2.7sys+theo)×1010({\rm 385.1\pm1.1_{stat}\pm2.7_{sys+theo}})\times10^{-10}. This result confirms the current discrepancy between the Standard Model calculation and the experimental measurement of the muon anomaly.Comment: 18 pages, 8 figures, minor text corrections, one table added, version to appear on Physics Letters
