    Get PDF
A survey of the fishes of Ten Mile Creek was conducted during 1976 to 1979. The ichthyofauna of Ten Mile Creek is typical of lowland drainage systems in southeastern Arkansas. Fifty-three species representing 13 families and 23 genera were collected. Etheostoma parvipinne was locally abundant in the headwaters, and other vulnerable or rare species included Notropls maculatus, Fundulus notti, Fundulus chrysotus, Erimyzon sucetta, Moxostoma poecilurum, and Lepomis punctatus. Eight specimens of Notropis hubbsi were collected

Distributional Records of Amphibians and Reptiles from Coastal Plain of Arkansas

Distribution of amphibians and reptiles in the West Gulf Coastal Plain and Mississippi Alluvial Plain is not well known because extensive collecting has not been done in these areas and data in museums have not been published. New distributional records for three salamanders (Desmognathus fuscus brimleyorum, Manculus quadridigitarus, Plethodon glutinosus glutinosus) , two anurans (Rana areolata circulosa, Scaphiopus holbrooki holbrooki), and one snake (Lampropeltis doliata amaura) are presented. Additional collecting will be necessary to determine the exact range and status of the secretive species

A CONJOINT ANALYSIS OF PAPER DEMAND BY COMMERCIAL GRAPHIC DESIGNERS

Conjoint analysis was used to evaluate the preferences of graphic designers toward kenaf paper. Results indicate that price is of overwhelming importance to designers in their purchasing decisions regarding paper stock. If priced competitively with existing wood and recycled papers, kenaf products should gain market share among designers.Demand and Price Analysis,

RESEARCH REPORTS: THE ECONOMIC FEASIBILITY OF A NEW JERSEY FRESH TOMATO PACKING FACILITY: A STOCHASTIC SIMULATION APPROACH

This study evaluates the economic feasibility of establishing a packing house for the New Jersey Tomato Council Cooperative Association. Several scenarios were evaluated using a comprehensive firm-level, dynamic, stochastic, multiple-year, capital-budgeting computer model. Results indicate that the packing house would have difficulty sustaining itself if it packed tomatoes only during the three months a year that local tomatoes are produced. Economic performance of the packing house improved, however, when additional tomatoes were repacked from another supplier during the months that tomatoes are not produced in New Jersey.Agribusiness,

Larval Chironomids of the St. Francis Sunken Lands in Northeast Arkansas

Sixty semi-annual collections (August 1987-July 1988) were made from 30 stations by sampling each station twice for 1.5 man-hours with an aquatic dipnet. Larval chironomids were mounted on slides and identified at 400-1000 magnifications using a Leitz Dialux 20 EB microscope. A survey of the aquatic macroinvertebrates of the St. Francis Sunken Lands in northeast Arkansas revealed 36 taxa of Order Diptera, Family Chironomidae. The taxa were used to evaluate the general health of the aquatic environment. Stations that were located within the least disturbed areas, which were old river channels and oxbows, contained the highest number of organisms and greatest diversity of taxa per station. Stations that were located either in channelized ditches with intense agricultural activities in the watershed or in the St. Francis Lake area, here the homogeneous substate restricted habitat diversity, contained fewer numbers of organisms and taxa per station
