Patterns and localized structures in bistable semiconductor resonators
We report experiments on spatial switching dynamics and steady state
structures of passive nonlinear semiconductor resonators of large Fresnel
number. Extended patterns and switching front dynamics are observed and
investigated. Evidence of localization of structures is given.Comment: 5 pages with 9 figure
Automatic measurement of selected parameters of mobile system devices in standard E1
Przedstawiono system pomiarowy wybranych parametr贸w urz膮dze艅 naziemnej infrastruktury system贸w kom贸rkowych pracuj膮cy w standardzie E1. System zosta艂 zbudowany na bazie komputera PC wyposa偶onego w kart臋 standardu E1 i zawiera opracowane i zaimplementowane oprogramowanie. Badania eksperymentalne obejmowa艂y weryfikacj臋 poprawno艣ci dzia艂ania systemu pomiarowego. Przeprowadzono je testuj膮c wykorzystywane w systemie GSM radiolinie firmy NOKIA, umo偶liwiaj膮ce bezprzewodowe przesy艂anie danych cyfrowych. Zmierzono bitow膮 stop臋 b艂臋d贸w transmisji w jednej szczelinie czasowej przy zastosowaniu kodowania Hamminga. The measurement of selected parameters of mobile cellular ground infrastructure working in the standard E1 have been presented. The system has been constructed on the basis on PC equipped with computer card of standard E1 controlled by the elaborated and implemented software. Experimental studies involved the verification of system functionality. They have been carried out using the NOKIA microwave radios in the GSM system enabling wireless data transmission. The bit error rate in the one timeslot using Hamming coding has been measured

Transient multimodality in relaxation from an unstable state.
We analyse a relaxation process from an unstable state during which transient multimodality occurs. This phenomenon is investigated experimentally on an electronic analogue circuit which mimics an overdamped bistable oscillator described by a sixth--order polynomial U(x) and is driven by a Gaussian white noise. The measured times and positions at which new maxima appear in the probability distribution function agree well with the theoretical predictions. It is shown that the shape of the potential guarantees the existence of two different time scales, allowing for the coexistence of three probability distribution peaks during a sizeable interval of time, even though there is no long "flat" region in the potential where U'(x) is very small. Finally, the concept of marginality with reference to unsteady states is discussed
