Orchidaceae neotropicales, ii: de orchidaceis principaliter colombianis notulae

During the past fifteen or twenty years, plant exploration in Colombia has been greatly intensified. The number of collections, especially from the high Andean regions of the country, is now very much more comprehensive; and monographic. and floristic projects should find in this trend strong impetus and keen encouragement. The very task of routine identification of plant collections often uncovers significant information. Frequently, species or genera turn up which are new either to Colombia or to a given phytogeographic province of the country.During the past fifteen or twenty years, plant exploration in Colombia has been greatly intensified. / Abstract. The results of the analysis of the morpho-ecological leaf variations according to vegetation types in along a rainy gradient at the Caribbean region of Colombia are presented. The morfo-ecological pattern corresponds to simple leaves, large (mesophyll and macrophyll leaf), elongated, entire margin, apex punctate (acuminate), with acute or obtuse base, membranaceous and sub-coriaceous consistency, absence of indument, pinnate nervation-type and thickness degree type B (0.16 mm-0.35 mm). The predominance of simple leaves, mesophyll and macrophyll, coriaceous and sub-coriaceous consistency, punctate apex (condition related whit effective drainage of water on the leaf), elongated, acute and obtuse base, irregular margin (serrate and undulated), thickness degree type B, C, D and E, pinnate nervation and absence of indumenta increased in rainy sites, meantime, the microphyll leaves and angled apex, thickness type A (0.005-0.15 mm) and presence of indument on both sides of the leaf increased in dry sites. The venation of leaf, base and type leaf (simple or compound) didn鈥檛 show along with the rainy gradient. The area leaf, specific weight, sclerophyllous and thickness degree increased at rainy sites specially in the lower strata where these characteristics showed a higher representation. The percentage of sclerophyllous decreased in the lower strata in all sites. The leaf model in most important families and genera in the rainy sites show the same tendencies that in the precipitation gradient.Maestr铆
