Hypovolemic shock and hemoperitoneum from spontaneous avulsion of a large pedunculated uterine leiomyoma
Hemoperitoneum with hypovolemic shock from avulsion of a pedunculated leiomyoma is a rare but highly fatal condition that can occur spontaneously or as a result of trauma. We report a case of hemoperitoneum and hypovolemic shock secondary to a bleeding leiomyoma detected via computed tomography (CT) scan in a 39 year old premenopausal, gravida 0 female that presented with abdominal pain and became hemodynamically unstable in the emergency department. A preoperative bimanual exam revealed a mass consistent with a 20 week gestational uterus. Following fluid resuscitation, the patient underwent emergent myomectomy and ligation of the right uterine artery and was discharged home in good condition. © 2017, EduRad. All rights reserved
Efficient and Perfect domination on circular-arc graphs
Given a graph , a \emph{perfect dominating set} is a subset of
vertices such that each vertex is
dominated by exactly one vertex . An \emph{efficient dominating set}
is a perfect dominating set where is also an independent set. These
problems are usually posed in terms of edges instead of vertices. Both
problems, either for the vertex or edge variant, remains NP-Hard, even when
restricted to certain graphs families. We study both variants of the problems
for the circular-arc graphs, and show efficient algorithms for all of them
Timed Consistent Network Updates
Network updates such as policy and routing changes occur frequently in
Software Defined Networks (SDN). Updates should be performed consistently,
preventing temporary disruptions, and should require as little overhead as
possible. Scalability is increasingly becoming an essential requirement in SDN.
In this paper we propose to use time-triggered network updates to achieve
consistent updates. Our proposed solution requires lower overhead than existing
update approaches, without compromising the consistency during the update. We
demonstrate that accurate time enables far more scalable consistent updates in
SDN than previously available. In addition, it provides the SDN programmer with
fine-grained control over the tradeoff between consistency and scalability.Comment: This technical report is an extended version of the paper "Timed

Control of the geometric phase and pseudo-spin dynamics on coupled Bose-Einstein condensates
We describe the behavior of two coupled Bose-Einstein condensates in
time-dependent (TD) trap potentials and TD Rabi (or tunneling) frequency, using
the two-mode approach. Starting from Bloch states, we succeed to get analytical
solutions for the TD Schroedinger equation and present a detailed analysis of
the relative and geometric phases acquired by the wave function of the
condensates, as well as their population imbalance. We also establish a
connection between the geometric phases and constants of motion which
characterize the dynamic of the system. Besides analyzing the affects of
temporality on condensates that differs by hyperfine degrees of freedom
(internal Josephson effect), we also do present a brief discussion of a one
specie condensate in a double-well potential
