Performing smart sexual selves: A sexual scripting analysis of youth talk about internet pornography
CAUL read and publish agreement 2023In this article, we explore young New Zealandersâ use of sexual scripts in talk about Internet pornography (IP) to perform âsmartâ sexual selves. Using sexual scripting theory, as developed by feminist discursive psychologists, our analysis of interview data generated with 10 youth (aged 16â18 years) highlights two commonly constructed sexual identities across youth talk; (i) the proficient Internet pornography user, and (ii) the astute Internet pornography viewer. The way these young people talk about portrayals of sexuality and gender in IP â and their ability to discern its artifice â suggests they are savvy consumers who are capable of using IP as a cultural resource (e.g. for learning, entertainment) while at the same time acknowledging it as a flawed representation of sex and sexuality. We discuss the implications of our findings for strengths-based sexuality education that supports sexual agency, proposing a justice-orientated approach grounded in the notion of ethical sexual citizenship.fals
Upper critical dimension, dynamic exponent and scaling functions in the mode-coupling theory for the Kardar-Parisi-Zhang equation
We study the mode-coupling approximation for the KPZ equation in the strong
coupling regime. By constructing an ansatz consistent with the asymptotic forms
of the correlation and response functions we determine the upper critical
dimension d_c=4, and the expansion z=2-(d-4)/4+O((4-d)^2) around d_c. We find
the exact z=3/2 value in d=1, and estimate the values 1.62, 1.78 for z, in
d=2,3. The result d_c=4 and the expansion around d_c are very robust and can be
derived just from a mild assumption on the relative scale on which the response

ANALYSIS OF THE JOINT KINEMATICS OF THE 5 IRON GOLF SWING
The purpose of this study was to identify the performance determining factors of the 5-iron golf swing. Joint kinematics were obtained from thirty male golfers using a twelve camera motion analysis system. Participants were divided into two groups, based on their ball launch speed (high vs. low). Those in the high ball speed group were deemed to be the more skillful group. Statistical analysis was used to identify the variables which differed significantly between the two groups, and could therefore be classified as the performance determining factors. The following factors were important to performance success: (i) the ability of the golfer to maintain a large X Factor angle and generate large X Factor angular velocity throughout the downswing, (ii) maintain the left arm as straight as possible throughout the swing, (iii) utilise greater movement of the hips in the direction of the target and a greater extension of the right hip during the downswing and (iv) greater flexion of both shoulders and less left shoulder internal rotation during the backswing
On Critical Exponents and the Renormalization of the Coupling Constant in Growth Models with Surface Diffusion
It is shown by the method of renormalized field theory that in contrast to a
statement based on a mathematically ill-defined invariance transformation and
found in most of the recent publications on growth models with surface
diffusion, the coupling constant of these models renormalizes nontrivially.
This implies that the widely accepted supposedly exact scaling exponents are to
be corrected. A two-loop calculation shows that the corrections are small and

Asymptomatic Primary Fallopian Tube Cancer: An Unusual Cause of Axillary Lymphadenopathy
Primary Fallopian tube malignancy is considered a rare disease and is often mistaken histologically and clinically for ovarian cancer. The etiology is poorly understood, and it typically presents at an advanced disease stage, as symptoms are often absent in the initial period. As a result, primary fallopian tube cancer is generally associated with a poor prognosis. We present the case of a 45-year-old female who presents with a 5-day history of left axillary swelling and a normal breast examination. Mammogram and biopsy of a lesion in the left breast revealed a fibroadenoma but no other abnormalities. Initial sampling of the axillary node was suspicious for a primary breast malignancy, but histology of the excised node refuted this. PET-CT showed an area of high uptake in the right pelvis, and a laparoscopy identified a tumor of the left fallopian tube which was subsequently excised and confirmed as a serous adenocarcinoma
L-Drawings of Directed Graphs
We introduce L-drawings, a novel paradigm for representing directed graphs
aiming at combining the readability features of orthogonal drawings with the
expressive power of matrix representations. In an L-drawing, vertices have
exclusive - and -coordinates and edges consist of two segments, one
exiting the source vertically and one entering the destination horizontally.
We study the problem of computing L-drawings using minimum ink. We prove its
NP-completeness and provide a heuristics based on a polynomial-time algorithm
that adds a vertex to a drawing using the minimum additional ink. We performed
an experimental analysis of the heuristics which confirms its effectiveness.Comment: 11 pages, 7 figure
Generic bounds on dipolar gravitational radiation from inspiralling compact binaries
Various alternative theories of gravity predict dipolar gravitational
radiation in addition to quadrupolar radiation. We show that gravitational wave
(GW) observations of inspiralling compact binaries can put interesting
constraints on the strengths of the dipole modes of GW polarizations. We put
forward a physically motivated gravitational waveform for dipole modes, in the
Fourier domain, in terms of two parameters: one which captures the relative
amplitude of the dipole mode with respect to the quadrupole mode () and
the other a dipole term in the phase (). We then use this two parameter
representation to discuss typical bounds on their values using GW measurements.
We obtain the expected bounds on the amplitude parameter and the phase
parameter for Advanced LIGO (AdvLIGO) and Einstein Telescope (ET) noise
power spectral densities using Fisher information matrix. AdvLIGO and ET may at

A Generalization of the Directed Graph Layering Problem
The Directed Layering Problem (DLP) solves a step of the widely used layer-based layout approach to automatically draw directed acyclic graphs. To cater for cyclic graphs, classically a preprocessing step is used that solves the Feedback Arc Set Problem (FASP)to make the graph acyclic before a layering is determined. Here, we present the Generalized Layering Problem (GLP) which solves the combination of DLP and FASP simultaneously, allowing general graphs as input. We show GLP to be NP- complete, present integer programming models to solve it, and perform thorough evaluations on different sets of graphs and with different implementations for the steps of the layer- based approach. We observe that GLP reduces the number of dummy nodes significantly, can produce more compact drawings and improves on graphs where DLP yields poor aspect ratios
Soluble Infinite-Range Model of Kinetic Roughening
A modified Kardar-Parisi-Zhang (KPZ) equation is introduced, and solved
exactly in the infinite-range limit. In the low-noise limit the system exhibits
a weak-to-strong coupling transition, rounded for non-zero noise, as a function
of the KPZ non-linearity. The strong-coupling regime is characterised by a
double-peaked height distribution in the stationary state. The nonstationary
