Results will be submitted for JAXA Standard Model and Nacelle/Pylon Off (Case 2a), Nacelle/Pylon On (Case 2c): 1. Alpha Study; 2. Grids: structured overset grids supplied by HiLiftPW committee; 3.     Modelling of strain effects in manganite films

    Thickness dependence and strain effects in films of La1xAxMnO3La_{1-x}A_xMnO_3 perovskites are analyzed in the colossal magnetoresistance regime. The calculations are based on a generalization of a variational approach previously proposed for the study of manganite bulk. It is found that a reduction in the thickness of the film causes a decrease of critical temperature and magnetization, and an increase of resistivity at low temperatures. The strain is introduced through the modifications of in-plane and out-of-plane electron hopping amplitudes due to substrate-induced distortions of the film unit cell. The strain effects on the transition temperature and transport properties are in good agreement with experimental data only if the dependence of the hopping matrix elements on the MnOMnMn-O-Mn bond angle is properly taken into account. Finally variations of the electron-phonon coupling linked to the presence of strain turn out important in influencing the balance of coexisting phases in the filmComment: 7 figures.     Morpheus – Remote Access to Micro Data with a Quality Measure

    Morpheus is a novel approach in providing remote access to micro data of official statistics. Researchers work on anonymous micro data files with common statistical software packages and get their results back in real time. Additionally, a measure of goodness of fit will be provided for every single result. Therefore researchers can work with the anonymous results as they can have confidence that they would have obtained the same or very similar results with the original data. All statistical analyses and all commands are allowed. Furthermore, users can browse through the anonymous data which is very helpful when developing program syntax and not possible in most other systems of remote access. Research data centres would greatly benefit from such a system as well, as the cumbersome manual disclosure control would be eliminated. All results would be safe and automatically returned to the researcher. This system would respect the special requirements to micro data access even in Germany where laws are especially strict.Morpheus ist ein neuartiger Ansatz, einen echten Fernzugriff auf Mikrodaten der amtlichen Statistik zu gewähren. Wissenschaftler werten mit den üblichen Statistik-Softwarepaketen einen anonymen Datensatz aus und erhalten ihre Ergebnisse in Echtzeit zurück. Zusätzlich erhalten sie zu jedem einzelnen Ergebnis ein Gütemaß. Obwohl die Wissenschaftler mit den anonymen Ergebnissen arbeiten, können sie dadurch sicher sein, dass sie das gleiche oder ein sehr ähnliches Ergebnis mit den Originaldaten erhalten hätten. Alle statistischen Analysen sind erlaubt. Darüber hinaus können sich die Wissenschaftler d ie anonymen Daten anschauen. Dies ist sehr hilfreich, wenn man Programme entwickelt und es ist in den meisten anderen Remote-Access-Systemen bisher nicht möglich. Forschungsdatenzentren würden von solch einem System ebenfalls in großem Maße profitieren, da die mühsame manuelle Geheimhaltungsprüfung entfallen würde. Alle Ergebnisse wären sicher und werden automatisch dem Wissenschaftler zugesandt. Dieses System würde die strengen gesetzlichen Datenschutzvorgaben für den Zugang zu Mikrodaten in Deutschland erfüllen

    Relay model for recruiting alcohol dependent patients in general hospitals - a single-blind pragmatic randomized trial

    BACKGROUND: A large proportion of the Danish population consumes more than the officially recommended weekly amount of alcohol. Untreated alcohol use disorders lead to frequent contacts with the health care system and can be associated with considerable human and societal costs. However, only a small share of those with alcohol use disorders receives treatment. A referral model to ensure treatment for alcohol dependent patients after discharge is needed. This study evaluates the i) cost-effectiveness ii) efficacy and iii) overall impact on societal costs of the proposed referral model - The Relay Model. METHOD/DESIGN: The study is a single-blind pragmatic randomized controlled trial including patients admitted to the hospital. The study group (n = 500) will receive an intervention, and the control group (n = 500) will be referred to treatment by usual procedures. All patients complete a lifestyle questionnaire with the Alcohol Use Disorders Identification Test embedded as a case identification strategy. The primary outcome of the study will be health care expenditures 12 months after discharge. The secondary outcome will be the percentage of the target group, who 30 days after discharge, reports at the alcohol treatment clinics. In order to analyse both outcomes, difference-in-difference models will be used. DISCUSSION: We expect to establish evidence as to whether The Relay Model is either cost-neutral or cost-effective, compared to referral by usual procedures.     Background The immunological escape of tumors represents one of the main ob- stacles to the treatment of malignancies. The blockade of PD-1 or CTLA-4 receptors represented a milestone in the history of immunotherapy. However, immune checkpoint inhibitors seem to be effective in specific cohorts of patients. It has been proposed that their efficacy relies on the presence of an immunological response. Thus, we hypothesized that disruption of the PD-L1/PD-1 axis would synergize with our oncolytic vaccine platform PeptiCRAd. Methods We used murine B16OVA in vivo tumor models and flow cytometry analysis to investigate the immunological background. Results First, we found that high-burden B16OVA tumors were refractory to combination immunotherapy. However, with a more aggressive schedule, tumors with a lower burden were more susceptible to the combination of PeptiCRAd and PD-L1 blockade. The therapy signifi- cantly increased the median survival of mice (Fig. 7). Interestingly, the reduced growth of contralaterally injected B16F10 cells sug- gested the presence of a long lasting immunological memory also against non-targeted antigens. Concerning the functional state of tumor infiltrating lymphocytes (TILs), we found that all the immune therapies would enhance the percentage of activated (PD-1pos TIM- 3neg) T lymphocytes and reduce the amount of exhausted (PD-1pos TIM-3pos) cells compared to placebo. As expected, we found that PeptiCRAd monotherapy could increase the number of antigen spe- cific CD8+ T cells compared to other treatments. However, only the combination with PD-L1 blockade could significantly increase the ra- tio between activated and exhausted pentamer positive cells (p= 0.0058), suggesting that by disrupting the PD-1/PD-L1 axis we could decrease the amount of dysfunctional antigen specific T cells. We ob- served that the anatomical location deeply influenced the state of CD4+ and CD8+ T lymphocytes. In fact, TIM-3 expression was in- creased by 2 fold on TILs compared to splenic and lymphoid T cells. In the CD8+ compartment, the expression of PD-1 on the surface seemed to be restricted to the tumor micro-environment, while CD4 + T cells had a high expression of PD-1 also in lymphoid organs. Interestingly, we found that the levels of PD-1 were significantly higher on CD8+ T cells than on CD4+ T cells into the tumor micro- environment (p < 0.0001). Conclusions In conclusion, we demonstrated that the efficacy of immune check- point inhibitors might be strongly enhanced by their combination with cancer vaccines. PeptiCRAd was able to increase the number of antigen-specific T cells and PD-L1 blockade prevented their exhaus- tion, resulting in long-lasting immunological memory and increased median survival

    Autonomy Architecture for a Raven-Class Telescope with Space Situational Awareness Applications

    Presented at the 23rd AAS/AIAA Spaceflight Mechanics Meeting in Kauai, HI.This paper investigates possible autonomy architecture designs of a Raven-class telescope as applied to the tracking and high level characterization problem in Space Situational Awareness (SSA). Various levels of autonomy are defined and existing systems and capabilities are discussed. Telescope interactions with distributed sensor networks such as the Space Surveillance Network (SSN) are reviewed, and several relationships between autonomy and scheduling of telescopes are addressed. An autonomy architecture design for a Raven-class telescope is presented and future extensions are proposed
