    Financial Software as a Service

    Software as a service as one of the cloud delivery models that supports fine-grained components. Financial applications demand better performance and accuracy in a cloud than the traditional computing platforms. Therefore, designing financial software as a service (FSaaS) requires an engineering and systematic approach. This paper has proposed an integrated service-oriented architecture and a SaaS component model for financial domain that provides the required scalability, flexibility and customisation. It has also demonstrated the design and customisation of service component interfaces to a financial simulation so that it provides automatic prediction models for investors to know accurate results for buy and sale prices. Therefore, large-scaled simulations can be achieved within a matter of 13.5 second for outlier removal and within 9 seconds for high-performance risk computation on the Cloud. This paper shows the holistic and complete approach of illustrating the system design of FSaaS, showing the two major algorithms and the results of experiments of running these two algorithms. It provides plans to integrate new and existing services with FSaaS

    A University of Greenwich Case Study of Cloud Computing – Education as a Service

    This paper proposes a new Supply Chain Business Model in the Education domain and demonstrates how Education as a Service (EaaS) can be delivered. The implementation at the University of Greenwich (UoG) is used as a case study. Cloud computing business models are classified into eight of Business Models, this classification is essential to the development of EaaS. A pair of the Hexagon Models is used to review Cloud projects against success criteria; one Hexagon Model focuses on Business Model and the other on IT Services. The UoG case study demonstrates the added value offered by Supply Chain software deployed by private cloud, where an Oracle suite and SAP supply chain can demonstrate supply chain distribution and is useful for teaching. The evaluation shows that students feel more motivated and can understand their coursework better

    Cloud Computing Business Framework (CCBF) is proposed to help organisations achieve good Cloud design, deployment, migration and services. While organisations adopt Cloud Computing for Web Services, technical and business challenges emerge and one of these includes the measurement of Cloud business performance. Organisational Sustainability Modelling (OSM) is a new way to measure Cloud business performance quantitatively and accurately. It combines statistical computation and 3D Visualisation to present the Return on Investment arising from the adoption of Cloud Computing by organisations. 3D visualisation simplifies the review process and is an innovative way for Return of Investment (ROI) valuation. Two detailed case studies with SAP and Vodafone have been presented, where OSM has analysed the business performance and explained how CCBF offers insights, which are relatively helpful for WS and Grid businesses. Comparisons and discussions between CCBF and other approaches related to WS are presented, where lessons learned are useful for Web Services, Cloud and Grid communities

    Cloud computing and frameworks for organisational cloud adoption

    This chapter presents a selected review for Cloud Computing and explains the issues and risks of adopting Cloud Computing in a business environment. Although all the risks identified may be associated with two major Cloud adoption challenges, a framework is required to support organisations as they begin to use Cloud and minimise risks of Cloud adoption. Eleven Cloud Computing frameworks are investigated and a comparison of their strengths and limitations is made. The result of the comparison is that none of them can deal with all the Cloud adoption challenges thoroughly and a new, comprehensive framework is required if organisations are to overcome these challenges. This proposed framework would ensure that benefits of Cloud adoption are maximised whilst minimising the risks of Cloud adoption and can integrate existing and new projects with Leeds Beckett Cloud. </jats:p
