Large Scale Structures a Gradient Lines: the case of the Trkal Flow
A specific asymptotic expansion at large Reynolds numbers (R)for the long
wavelength perturbation of a non stationary anisotropic helical solution of the
force less Navier-Stokes equations (Trkal solutions) is effectively constructed
of the Beltrami type terms through multi scaling analysis. The asymptotic
procedure is proved to be valid for one specific value of the scaling
parameter, namely for the square root of the Reynolds number (R).As a result
large scale structures arise as gradient lines of the energy determined by the
initial conditions for two anisotropic Beltrami flows of the same helicity. The
same intitial conditions determine the boundaries of the vortex-velocity tubes,
containing both streamlines and vortex linesComment: 27 pages, 2 figure
Lexical pragmatics and types of linguistic encoding: evidence from pre- and postpositions in Behdini-Kurdish
Lexical pragmatics starts from the assumption that the meaning communicated
by a word is underdetermined by its semantics, and lexical pragmatists
usually study the processes involved in bridging the gap between the
encoded and the communicated meaning of words. This paper studies
a different but related question: wether different types of linguistic
encoding can play empirically distinguishable roles in lexical pragmatics.
Carston (2002) suggests that some words may encode templates for concept
formation whereas others encode fully-fledged concepts that provide
inputs to pragmatic processes. Blakemore (1987) argued that some words
encode constraints on inferential processes rather than concepts.
But if some words might encode nothing more than concept-formation
templates, and others procedural constraints, then both types of words
appear to be highly context dependent and their linguistic semantics
rather abstract in nature. Is it possible to distinguish these different
types of encoding empirically? In this paper I want to argue that
the answer to this question is positive. In Behdini-Kurdish, there
is a class of four fundamental prepositions *di* 'in', *li*
'at', *ji* 'from', *bi* 'with'. Furthermore, there is a
larger class of simple prepositions such as *ser* 'on', *nav*
'within', *ber* 'in front'. These simple prepositions can be
added to one of the fundamental prepositions to form compound ones:
*diser* 'on top of', *dinav* 'inside', *diber* 'in
front of, in sight of'. Any fundamental, simple or compound preposition
can be used together with one of three postpositions *da*, *ra*
and *ve*. Postpositions are morphologically and syntactically
simple, in contrast to prepositions. Though overlapping in meaning
with prepositions, they are not redundant. Fundamental prepositions
have a wider range of meaning than simple prepositions and compound
prepositions. Finally, there are grammaticalisation paths from nouns
through compound preposition to simple prepositions, but none involving
the postpositions. My thesis is that these properties of the Behdini-Kurdish
system of pre-and postpositions can be explained on the assumptions
that the class of fundamental prepositions encodes templates for ad-hoc
concept construction, the class of simple prepositions encodes concepts
that allow the construction of ad-hoc concepts, and that the class
of postpositions encode procedures constraining ad-hoc concept construction.
This thesis gets additional support from German prepositional phrases.
I conclude that the different types of linguistic encoding discussed
do indeed lead to distinct effects in lexical pragmatics and are therefore
empirically distinguishable. Thus, while there is reason to think
that a unified account of the pragmatic processes involved in lexical
pragmatics is possible (Wilson, to appear), the different
types of inputs to these processes need to be recognised
Theoretical aspects of coping strategies study
In article based on a thorough analysis of classical and modern foreign and domestic literature examines the notion of coping strategies, approaches to the understanding of coping. Theoretically proved that coping is an individual way to interact with the situation according to its own logic, psychological capabilities and its importance in human life, the level of development of coping resources provides a successful adaptation to stress. From the analysis of theoretical literature, we saw that the uncertainty of events to humans might arise from objectively defi ned parameters of the situation and its subjective interpretation that is associated with the personal characteristics of the person, lack of experience or skills in this type of life events. The signifi cance of the research question in a pedagogical context is to help the teenager to better adapt to the demands of the situation, allowing him to possess her, to repay the action stressful situation, creative process and become an active subject

Luminescence evidence for bulk and surface excitons in free xenon clusters
Cathodoluminescence spectra of free xenon clusters produced by condensation
of xenon-argon gas mixtures in supersonic jets expanding into vacuum were
studied. By varying initial experimental parameters, including xenon
concentration, we could obtain clusters with a xenon core (300-3500 atoms)
covered by an argon outer shell as well as shell-free xenon clusters (about
1500 atoms). The cluster size and temperature (about 40 K for both cases) were
measured electronographically. Luminescence bands evidencing the existence of
bulk and surface excitons were detected for shell-free xenon clusters. The
emission from bulk excitons in small clusters is supposed to be due to
processes of their multiple elastic reflections from the xenon-vacuum
interface. A presence of an argon shell causes extinction of the excitonic
bands. In addition, some new bands were found which have no analogs for bulk
xenon cryosamples.Comment: The final modified version will be published in Phys. Rev. A 76

J Clin Hypertens (Greenwich)
The ability to reliably evaluate the impact of interventions and changes in hypertension prevalence and control is critical if the burden of hypertension-related disease is to be reduced. Previously, a World Hypertension League Expert Committee made recommendations to standardize the reporting of population blood pressure surveys. We have added to those recommendations and also provide modified recommendations from a Pan American Health Organization expert meeting for "performance indicators" to be used to evaluate clinical practices. Core indicators for population surveys are recommended to include: (1) mean systolic blood pressure and (2) mean diastolic blood pressure, and the prevalences of: (3) hypertension, (4) awareness of hypertension, (5) drug-treated hypertension, and (6) drug-treated and controlled hypertension. Core indicators for clinical registries are recommended to include: (1) the prevalence of diagnosed hypertension and (2) the ratio of diagnosed hypertension to that expected by population surveys, and the prevalences of: (3) controlled hypertension, (4) lack of blood pressure measurement within a year in people diagnosed with hypertension, and (5) missed visits by people with hypertension. Definitions and additional indicators are provided. Widespread adoption of standardized population and clinical hypertension performance indicators could represent a major step forward in the effort to control hypertension.CC999999/Intramural CDC HHS/United States2017-06-20T00:00:00Z28191704PMC547694
