Boundary States and Black Hole Entropy
Black hole entropy is derived from a sum over boundary states. The boundary
states are labeled by energy and momentum surface densities, and parametrized
by the boundary metric. The sum over state labels is expressed as a functional
integral with measure determined by the density of states. The sum over metrics
is expressed as a functional integral with measure determined by the universal
expression for the inverse temperature gradient at the horizon. The analysis
applies to any stationary, nonextreme black hole in any theory of gravitational
and matter fields.Comment: 4 pages, Revte
Indometh acin-antihistamine combination for gastric ulceration control
An anti-inflammatory and analgesic composition containing indomethacin and an H2 histamine receptor antagonist in an amount sufficient to reduce gastric distress caused by the indomethacin was developed. Usable antagonists are metiamide and cimetidine
Unimodular graded Poisson Hopf algebras
Let be a Poisson Hopf algebra over an algebraically closed field of
characteristic zero. If is finitely generated and connected graded as an
algebra and its Poisson bracket is homogeneous of degree , then
is unimodular; that is, the modular derivation of is zero. This is a
Poisson analogue of a recent result concerning Hopf algebras which are
connected graded as algebras.Comment: 14 pages; preliminary version, comments welcom
The Cohen Macaulay property for noncommutative rings
Let R be a noetherian ring which is a finite module over its centre Z(R).
This paper studies the consequences for R of the hypothesis that it is a
maximal Cohen Macaulay Z(R)-module. Old results are reviewed and a number of
new results are proved. The additional hypothesis of homological grade symmetry
is proposed as the appropriate extra lever needed to extend the classical
commutative homological hierarchy to this setting, and results are given
offering evidence in support of this proposal.Comment: Preliminary version; comments welcom
Indomethacin-antihistamine combination for gastric ulceration control
An anti-inflammatory and analgesic composition containing indomethacin and an H sub 1 or an H sub 2 histamine receptor antagonist in an amount sufficient to reduce gastric distress caused by the indomethacin is described. Usable antagonists include pyrilamine, promethazine, metiamide and cimetidine
The Al Gamma-ray Line from Massive-Star Regions
The measurement of gamma rays from the diffuse afterglow of radioactivity
originating in massive-star nucleosynthesis is considered a laboratory for
testing models, when specific stellar groups are investigated, at known
distance and with well-constrained stellar population. Regions which have been
exploited for such studies include Cygnus, Carina, Orion, and
Scorpius-Centaurus. The Orion region hosts the Orion OB1 association and its
subgroups at about 450~pc distance. We report the detection of Al gamma
rays from this region with INTEGRAL/SPI.Comment: Contribution to Symposium "Nuclei in the Cosmos XIV", Niigata, Japan,
