Directly Indecomposables in Semidegenerate Varieties of Connected po-Groupoids

We study varieties with a term-definable poset structure, "po-groupoids". It is known that connected posets have the "strict refinement property" (SRP). In [arXiv:0808.1860v1 [math.LO]] it is proved that semidegenerate varieties with the SRP have definable factor congruences and if the similarity type is finite, directly indecomposables are axiomatizable by a set of first-order sentences. We obtain such a set for semidegenerate varieties of connected po-groupoids and show its quantifier complexity is bounded in general

Varieties with Definable Factor Congruences

We study direct product representations of algebras in varieties. We collect several conditions expressing that these representations are "definable" in a first-order-logic sense, among them the concept of Definable Factor Congruences (DFC). The main results are that DFC is a Mal'cev property and that it is equivalent to all other conditions formulated; in particular we prove that V has DFC if and only if V has 0&1 and Boolean Factor Congruences. We also obtain an explicit first order definition of the kernel of the canonical projections via the terms associated to the Mal'cev condition for DFC, in such a manner it is preserved by taking direct products and direct factors. The main tool is the use of "central elements," which are a generalization of both central idempotent elements in rings with identity and neutral complemented elements in a bounded lattice

El activismo religioso conservador en Latinoamérica

Pertenece a la colección Religión, Género y Sexualidad / dirigida por Juan M. Vaggione ; v.3El libro reúne un conjunto de análisis que ponen en evidencia la heterogeneidad y la complejidad de las estrategias de influencia de la religión como uno de los principales sostenes de sistemas heteronormativos en nuestras sociedades contemporáneas. Tanto al nivel de los actores como de los discursos, las formas en que las religiones influencian las discusiones sobre políticas de sexualidad han adoptado diversas modalidades de actuación adaptándose a los momentos políticos. Así, los artículos que integran la compilación se dirigen a complejizar el rol de lo religioso en la política sexual contemporánea incluyendo en esta problematización distintos ejes de análisis y marcos teóricos. Haciendo foco en diferentes países de América Latina, con sus escenarios y problemas, los artículos abordan las variadas dimensiones del activismo religioso conservador en nuestra región

Boolean like algebras

Using Vaggione’s concept of central element in a double pointed algebra, we introduce the notion of Boolean like variety as a generalization of Boolean algebras to an arbitrary similarity type. Appropriately relaxing the requirement that every element be central in any member of the variety, we obtain the more general class of semi-Boolean like varieties, which still retain many of the pleasing properties of Boolean algebras. We prove that a double pointed variety is discriminator i↵ it is semi-Boolean like, idempotent, and 0-regular. This theorem yields a new Maltsev-style characterization of double pointed discriminator varieties. Moreover, we show that every idempotent semi-Boolean-like variety is term equivalent to a variety of noncommutative Boolean algebras with additional regular operations

"Gender ideology" in conservative discourses: Public sphere and sex education in Argentina

The anti-gender groups -including some religious ones- have deployed a contraoffensive action against the agenda of women´s rights, the LGTBIQ demands and gender equality in Latin America, in recent years. Our purpose in this chapter is to analyze the positioning of these groups gathered around the category of "gender ideology", with special focus on their political and discursive strategies. From a Critical Discourse Studies approach, we characterize their actions in the public sphere in conjunctures of debate on sexual rights and sex education, in Argentina. This analysis seeks to contribute to a wider critical interpretation of the sexualised and gendered norms imposed as restrictions for a livable life, especially in the educational practices, as these norms contingently shape the boundaries of the public sphere itself.Fil: Torres, German Santos Maria.
