    Automatic detection of powerlines in UAV remote sensed images

    Powerline detection is one of the important applications of Uninhabited Aerial Vehicle (UAV ) based remote sensing. In this paper, powerlines are detected from UAV remote sensed images. The images are acquired from a Quad rotor UAV fitted with a GoPro® camera. In the proposed method pixel intensity-based clustering is performed followed by morphological operations. K-means clustering is applied for clustering. The number of clusters to be used in k-means clustering is automatically generated using Davies-Bouldin (DB) index. Further, the clustered data is processed to improvise the extraction using mathematical morphological operations. Performance of powerline extraction is analysed using confusion matrix method. In the observed results of powerline extraction using DB index, evaluation features derived from confusion matrix is close to one, indicating good classification

    Wear characterization of Al 7075 alloy hybrid composites

    Aluminium alloy hybrid composites are in high demand for advanced scientific applications due to their high strength, low weight, and enhanced tribological properties. A hybrid composite of aluminium alloy (Al7075) and aluminium oxide (Al2O3) and E-glass shot fibres was produced using a sand moulding technique in an electric resistance furnace. The objective of this research was to look at the wear characteristics of Al7075-Al2O3-E-glass hybrid composites with various Al2O3 (3-12%) and E-glass weight percentages (2-6 percent). The sliding distance (500, 1000, and 1500 m), load (10, 20, and 30N), Al2O3 (3, 6, and 9 %), and E-glass (2-6 %) are the wear characteristics that are considered. Wear testing is carried out using pin-on-disc equipment (WTE 165 model, Version-EV00) in line with the Taguchi L9 orthogonal array. Taguchi analysis was done on the collected data to find SN plots. Regression analysis was done along with ANOVA to find relationships between different factors selected. In order to reduce the wear rate of hybrid composites, the optimal wear parameters are determined. As the percentage of reinforcements increased, the rate of deterioration decreased. SEM scans revealed the attachment and displacement of unintended wear debris, as well as the uniform distribution of Al2O3/E-glass particles

    Pemetrexed plus Cetuximab in Patients with Recurrent Non-small Cell Lung Cancer (NSCLC): A Phase I/II Study from the Hoosier Oncology Group

    PurposePemetrexed is a standard treatment against recurrent non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), and cetuximab has single-agent activity against NSCLC. This study evaluates the safety and efficacy of the combination of these agents in patients with advanced NSCLC.Patients and MethodsPatients with recurrent NSCLC and an Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group performance status of 0 to 1 were entered. Patients on the phase I portion of the study received cetuximab 400 mg/m2 intravenously (IV) on day −7 followed by weekly doses of cetuximab at 250 mg/m2 IV with escalating doses of pemetrexed every 3 weeks (dose levels: 500, 600, 750, 900 mg/m2) in a standard 3 + 3 design. Once the maximum tolerated dose (MTD) of the combination was determined, patients were enrolled on the phase II portion. The primary end point was to determine the median time to disease progression (TTP) (null hypothesis 12 weeks, alternative hypothesis 24 weeks).ResultsThirty-six patients were enrolled (phase I: n = 13, phase II: n = 23). Patient characteristics included 60.6% men, median age 64 years (range, 37–80 years), 57.6% had performance status 0 and 54.6% had adenocarcinoma histology. The median number of previous regimens was 2 (range, 1–6). The maximum tolerated dose of pemetrexed in combination with cetuximab was determined to be 750 mg/m2. The median TTP was 14.6 weeks. The median survival time was 42 weeks and 1-year survival was 38.5%.ConclusionThe combination of pemetrexed at 750 mg/m2 every 21 days with weekly cetuximab at 250 mg/m2 was feasible; however, in this unselected patient population, the combination regimen does not seem to improve TTP compared with historical controls of either single agent

    Object Sub-Categorization and Common Framework Method using Iterative AdaBoost for Rapid Detection of Multiple Objects

    Object detection and tracking in real time has numerous applications and benefits in various fields like survey, crime detection etc. The idea of gaining useful information from real time scenes on the roads is called as Traffic Scene Perception (TSP). TSP actually consists of three subtasks namely, detecting things of interest, recognizing the discovered objects and tracking of the moving objects. Normally the results obtained could be of value in object recognition and tracking, however the detection of a particular object of interest is of higher value in any real time scenario. The prevalent systems focus on developing unique detectors for each of the above-mentioned subtasks and they work upon utilizing different features. This obviously is time consuming and involves multiple redundant operations. Hence in this paper a common framework using the enhanced AdaBoost algorithm is proposed which will examine all dense characteristics only once thereby increasing the detection speed substantially. An object sub-categorization strategy is proposed to capture the intra-class variance of objects in order to boost generalisation performance even more. We use three detection applications to demonstrate the efficiency of the proposed framework: traffic sign detection, car detection, and bike detection. On numerous benchmark data sets, the proposed framework delivers competitive performance using state-of-the-art techniques

In the crystal, the molecules are connected into inversion dimers through pairs of N - HO hydrogen bonds and C - HO interactions forming R 22(8) and R 2 2(14) loops, respectively.
