This article presents the results of the macrobotanical analysis of samples from two Caddoan archaeological sites in Northeast Texas. Two flotation samples and 34 screen samples were examined from 41 UR 142, the Griffin Mound site, a Middle Caddoan settlement located on a tributary of Little Cypress Creek. Fifteen finescreen samples were examined from 41CP230, the Underwood site. The screen samples from the Underwood site were recovered from a Late Caddoan Titus phase midden on Big Cypress Creek, in the Lake Bob Sandlin area

Some Economics of Act Water Resources: Determining Initial "Cap" Entitlements for the Act

    Get PDF
The Australian Capital Territory (ACT) became a full participant in the Murray Darling Basin (MDB) Initiative in 1998. This opened the opportunity for the ACT to establish water trading arrangements with the other MDB member States. Provisions to facilitate this trade are currently being developed. In addition, the ACT is required to negotiate an initial “Cap” level with the other MDB members before water trading can begin. The Cap defines the amount of water resources for which each State has extractive rights, and is based on 1993/94 levels of water utilising development. This paper investigates alternative trading strategies that could be used to “build” Cap over time, and explores the implications for negotiation of the initial ACT Cap endowment.water resources, water markets, trading strategy, Australian Capital Territory, Resource /Energy Economics and Policy,

Drell-Yan process in soft-collinear effective theory near end-point

The Drell-Yan process is analyzed in soft-collinear effective theory near the end-point region. It is assumed that the relevant final-state hadron energy Q(1−z)Q(1-z) where zz is the momentum fraction transferred to the virtual photon is the typical hadronic scale ∼Λ\sim\Lambda, thus no intermediate scale exists. It is shown that this setup successfully reproduces the full theory results. We also discuss the factorized soft Wilson lines for the Drell-Yan process.Comment: 18 pages, 6 figures. What sort of standard candle is Orion for studying molecular hydrogen line emission in galaxies

    Get PDF
The total shocked and fluorescent molecular hydrogen 1-0 S(1) line luminosities from Orion have been measured to be about 2.5 solar luminosity and about 2.0 solar luminosity, respectively. The implications for using Orion to study the interstellar medium in galaxies is discussed
