Managing highly innovative projects: the influence of design characteristics on project valuation
The climate change debate and economic recovery strategies in various industries demand highly innovative projects featuring stretched performance goals for developing clean technology. These projects face multiple sources of uncertainty in high risk situations, and require specialized know-how and longer periods for revenue growth than their counterparts in other industries. We use data from 207 clean technology projects funded by the U.S. Advanced Research Projects Agency-Energy to conduct a comparative study of how operations design can hedge risk and enhance project valuation in technology development and deployment stages. We find that deployment feasibility is significantly and positively related to project valuation. On the other hand, stretched technical performance goals, development feasibility and market growth targets are associated with lower valuation. We also find some significant differences for these results across institution types: mature firms, start-ups, universities, and research centers. We examine the risk profile of these projects by technology and institution type, and discuss the managerial and policy implications for these findings

Life Cycle Assessment of Municipal Waste Management System (Case Study: Karaj, Iran)
LCA has been defined as a tool for evaluating the environmental burdens and potential impacts that can be applied to municipal solid waste management systems for determine the optimum municipal solid waste (MSW) management strategy.To investigate the Waste Management system strategyof Karaj City we used LCA method. Three scenarios were defined and compared based on environmental burden include water pollution, air pollution, consumed energy and waste residues.. For each of these scenarios, an ecological indicator was achieved from checklist values. From the environmental point of view, results show that recycling is one of the best alternatives for Waste Management. Furthermore, composting has an important role in alleviating the load of pollutants and energy usage in the Waste Management system. ©JASEMKeywords: Waste Management system, LCA, Kara
On the Quantum Geometry of Multi-critical CDT
We discuss extensions of a recently introduced model of multi-critical CDT to
higher multi-critical points. As in the case of pure CDT the continuum limit
can be taken on the level of the action and the resulting continuum surface
model is again described by a matrix model. The resolvent, a simple observable
of the quantum geometry which is accessible from the matrix model is calculated
for arbitrary multi-critical points. We go beyond the matrix model by
determining the propagator using the peeling procedure which is used to extract
the effective quantum Hamiltonian and the fractal dimension in agreement with
earlier results by Ambjorn et al. With this at hand a string field theory
formalism for multi-critical CDT is introduced and it is shown that the
Dyson-Schwinger equations match the loop equations of the matrix model. We
conclude by commenting on how to formally obtain the sum over topologies and a

Holographic DC conductivities from the open string metric
We study the DC conductivities of various holographic models using the open
string metric (OSM), which is an effective metric geometrizing density and
electromagnetic field effect. We propose a new way to compute the nonlinear
conductivity using OSM. As far as the final conductivity formula is concerned,
it is equivalent to the Karch-O'Bannon's real-action method. However, it yields
a geometrical insight and technical simplifications. Especially, a real-action
condition is interpreted as a regular geometry condition of OSM. As
applications of the OSM method, we study several holographic models on the
quantum Hall effect and strange metal. By comparing a Lifshitz background and
the Light-Cone AdS, we show how an extra parameter can change the temperature
scaling behavior of conductivity. Finally we discuss how OSM can be used to
study other transport coefficients, such as diffusion constant, and effective
temperature induced by the effective world volume horizon.Comment: 33 page
Pure spinor computation towards open string three-loop
Using the recent results in the pure spinor formulation, we lay out a
ground-work towards the full momentum space amplitudes of open superstrings at
three-loop. After briefly reviewing the one-loop amplitude, we directly work
out the two-loop and reproduce the result that was obtained by a symmetry
argument. For the three-loop, first we use the two-loop regulator as a warm-up
exercise. The result vanishes. We then employ the regulator that has been
recently proposed by Aisaka and Berkovits (AB). It is noted that the terms in
higher power in that render the two-loop
regulator disqualified for the three-loop do not contribute. This with a few
other indications suggests a possibility that the AB regulator might also lead
to a vanishing result. Nevertheless, we argue that it is possible to acquire
the three-loop amplitude, and present a result that we anticipate to be the

Semiclassical Analysis of M2-brane in AdS_4 x S^7 / Z_k
We start from the classical action describing a single M2-brane on AdS_4 x
S^7/ Z_k and consider semiclassical fluctuaitions around a static, 1/2 BPS
configuration whose shape is AdS_2 x S^1. The internal manifold S^7/ Z_k is
described as a U(1) fibration over CP^3 and the static configuration is wrapped
on the U(1) fiber. Then the configuration is reduced to an AdS_2 world-sheet of
type IIA string on AdS_4 x CP^3 through the Kaluza-Klein reduction on the S^1.
It is shown that the fluctuations form an infinite set of N=1 supermultiplets
on AdS_2, for k=1,2. The set is invariant under SO(8) which may be consistent
with N=8 supersymmetry on AdS_2. We discuss the behavior of the fluctuations
around the boundary of AdS_2 and its relation to deformations of Wilson loop

Primary Superficial Vein Reflux with Competent Saphenous Trunk
AbstractObjectives: because reflux in superficial vein tributaries is most often collectively reported with the main saphenous veins, its importance remains largely unrecognised. This study was designed to identify the distribution and extent of non-truncal superficial venous reflux and its association with the signs and symptoms of chronic venous disease (CVD). Patients and methods: eighty-four limbs in 62 patients with signs and symptoms of CVD and evidence of reflux on continuous-wave Doppler were subsequently examined with colour-flow duplex imaging. Incompetent superficial vein tributaries were imaged throughout their extent and both ends were identified. Limbs with reflux in the main trunk of the saphenous veins or the deep, perforator or muscular veins, superficial or deep vein thrombosis, injection sclerotherapy, varicose-vein surgery, arterial disease and inflammation of non-venous origin were excluded from the study. The CEAP classification system was used for staging clinical severity of CVD. Results: the prevalence of tributary reflux alone was 9.7% (84/860). Reflux was detected in 171 tributaries. The number of incompetent tributaries ranged from 1 to 5 per limb. Most prevalent were the tributaries to the greater saphenous (111, 65%<0.0001), followed by those of lesser saphenous (33, 19%) or a combination of both (12, 7%). Incompetent non-saphenous tributaries were uncommon (15, 9%). Among the named tributaries in the lower limb the posterior arch vein was most often incompetent (46, 27%) followed by the anterolateral vein of the thigh (30, 18%), the medial accessory vein (16, 9%) and the anterior arch vein (14, 8%). Reflux in above-the-knee tributaries alone was found in 18 limbs (21%), in below the knee in 23 (28%) and in both sites in 43 (51%). The vast majority of the limbs (71%,p <0.0001) belonged to CVD class 2, 14% in class 3, 9% in class 1 and only 6% in class 4. Class 3 and 4 patients tended to have a longer duration of signs and symptoms, higher number of incompetent tributaries per limb and also a higher prevalence of combined above- and below-knee reflux. Conclusions: these data indicate that reflux confined to superficial tributaries is found throughout the lower limb. Because this reflux is present without greater and lesser saphenous trunk, perforator and deep-vein incompetence or proximal obstruction, it shows that reflux can develop in any vein without an apparent feeding source. Greater saphenous tributaries are affected significantly more often than those of lesser saphenous, while non-saphenous reflux is uncommon. Most limbs have signs and symptoms of CVD class 2 and 15% belong in classes 3 and 4
Quantum Spectral Curve at Work: From Small Spin to Strong Coupling in N=4 SYM
We apply the recently proposed quantum spectral curve technique to the study
of twist operators in planar N=4 SYM theory. We focus on the small spin
expansion of anomalous dimensions in the sl(2) sector and compute its first two
orders exactly for any value of the 't Hooft coupling. At leading order in the
spin S we reproduced Basso's slope function. The next term of order S^2
structurally resembles the Beisert-Eden-Staudacher dressing phase and takes
into account wrapping contributions. This expansion contains rich information
about the spectrum of local operators at strong coupling. In particular, we
found a new coefficient in the strong coupling expansion of the Konishi
operator dimension and confirmed several previously known terms. We also
obtained several new orders of the strong coupling expansion of the BFKL
pomeron intercept. As a by-product we formulated a prescription for the correct
analytical continuation in S which opens a way for deriving the BFKL regime of

Impact of medication and psychological behaviour assessment by community pharmacists in type 2 diabetes mellitus patients after hospital stay
Drug related problem (DRPs) is a key factor which will affect the outcome of therapy and safety. The aim of the present study is to assess the DRPs in T2DM patients and psychological aspects of patients by community pharmacists to observe the rate of DRP. Prospective randomized controlled intervention study involved T2DM patients and conducted in two community pharmacies at Kanpur from January 2012 to December 2012. The assessment of DRPs was based on the PCNE. Changes in HBA1C, LDL, BP, foot examinations, changes medical and medication utilization were studied. Using as control group, received usual care, and interventional group provided, intervened with use of the STG. Researcher provided the knowledge to community pharmacists and patients. Baseline and interventional data were collected at 0,3,6,9 and 12 months. Over 12 month study, participants’ average HBA1C reduced from 8.9% at initial visit to 7.5%. During this time, the eye examination rate was raised from 31% to 48%, and the foot examination rate was raised from 35% to 50%. It may be concluded that the intervention of pharmacists showed very less significant influence on any of the intermediate health outcomes in T2DM.Keywords: Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus, Drug related problems , PCNE classification, Medication review, Psychological behavior
