Remarks on E11 approach
We consider a few topics in approach to superstring/M-theory: even
subgroups ( orbifolds) of , n=11,10,9 and their connection to
Kac-Moody algebras; subgroup of and coincidence of one of
its weights with the weight of , known to contain brane charges;
possible form of supersymmetry relation in ; decomposition of
w.r.t. the and its square root at first few levels; particle orbit
of . Possible relevance of coadjoint orbits method is
noticed, based on a self-duality form of equations of motion in .Comment: Two references adde
The effect of 3He impurities on the nonclassical response to oscillation of solid 4He
We have investigated the influence of impurities on the possible supersolid
transition by systematically enriching isotopically-pure 4He (< 1 ppb of 3He)
with 3He. The onset of nonclassical rotational inertia is broadened and shifts
monotonically to higher temperature with increasing 3He concentration,
suggesting that the phenomenon is correlated to the condensation of 3He atoms
onto the dislocation network in solid 4He.Comment: 4 page
Growth rates for subclasses of Av(321)
Pattern classes which avoid 321 and other patterns are shown to have the same growth rates as similar (but strictly larger) classes obtained by adding articulation points to any or all of the other patterns. The method of proof is to show that the elements of the latter classes can be represented as bounded merges of elements of the original class, and that the bounded merge construction does not change growth rates
The space science data service: A study of its efficiencies and costs
Factors affecting the overall advantages and disadvantages of a centralized facility for both the data base and processing capability for NASA's Office of Space Science programs are examined in an effort to determine the best approach to data management in the light of the increasing number of data bits collected annually. Selected issues considered relate to software and storage savings, security precautions, and the phase-in plan. Information on the current mode of processing and on the potential impact of changes resulting from a conversion to a space science data base service was obtained from five user groups and is presented as an aid in determining the dollar benefits and advantages of a centralized system
