A method based on particle motion is proposed to determine the particle trajectory in Gas Insulated Substation (GIS) or Gas Insulated Busduct (GIB). In order to determine the movement of a particle in a GIB, an inner electrode diameter of 40mm and outer enclosure diameter of 137mm was considered. Aluminium and copper wires of 0.25mm/10mm and 0.25mm/12mm were considered to be present on the enclosure surface. The motion of the wire (particle) was simulated using the charge acquired by the particles, the macroscopic field that the particle site, the drag coefficient, Reynold's number and coefficient of restitution. In order to determine the random behaviour of moving particles, the calculation of movement in axial and radial directions was done at every time step using rectangular random numbers. Typically for Aluminium wire for a bus duct voltage of 100 kV RMS, the movement of the particle (0.5mm / 8mm) for 2 Sec was computed to be 18.0337mm in radial and 424.4979mm in axial directions and the movement of the particle (0.25mm / 12mm) for 2 Sec was computed to be 22.4249mm in radial and 503.618mm in axial directions. Similar calculation is extended for a typical 200 kV (RMS) Gas Insulated Busduct

Skin is an organ which represents some inner abnormalities and stress conditions within one’s body. Skin is just like a mirror reflection and manifesting various type of inner abnormality or diseased condition. Now a day’s, skin infections are more common in a persons who is having altered life style, lack of physical exercise, unhygienic condition, mental stress, irregular food habits. In Ayurveda, major skin diseases have been classified under the heading of Kustha. Acharya Sushrutha explained Vrsanakacchu under Kshudrarogas, while explaining the Nidanas, he opines that due to lack of hygiene there will be Mala sanchaya in the Vrshana leads to Kandu, Kshipraspota and Sravayukthavyadhi called Vrsanakacchu. In modern science this condition is termed as “Tinea Cruris, but in this present case, symptoms are seen in other places also, so in this condition can also be considered as “Tinea corporis" Inspite of all the advancement in treatment the results in contemporary science are not much beneficial. Here, a case report of 24 years female who approached to OPD of SKAMC,H & RC with chief complaints of dryness, blackish discoloration along with itching and peeling off of the greyish skin in the groin region, upper back, and above the umbilicus since 1 year, was treated with initial line of Bahirparimarjana chikitsa followed by Shodhana chikitsa

Now a day, due to increase in industrialized population include a sedentary lifestyle and a diet characterized by the excessive consumption of saturated fats, trans fatty acids and cholesterol which tends to increase blood cholesterol levels. Raised total cholesterol is a major cause of disease burden in both the developed and developing world as a risk factor for Ischemic heart disease and stroke. In Ayurveda, this condition can be considered under Santarpanotthavyadhi.  Due to Santarpanothanidanas there will be increase in the Pichilla and Snehagunas which in turn causes Ama, if further same nidanas are continued leads to Madhuratara of Ama and Annarasa causes the circulation of increased Medaie: Shareera Anukraman Atisnehan Medo Janayati.  To combat this condition Acharyas have mentioned about VatagnaAnnapana, Ruksha- Ushna i.e., Ruksha Udvartana, Lekhana Basti etc lines of treatment.  Hence this study was taken up to see the efficacy of the treatment protocol mentioned for the better management. It was an open label clinical study done on 10 patients.  Patients were subjected to Sarvanga Udvartana with Kolakulatthadichurna and Lekhanabasti for a period of fifteen days. In the present study, the effect of the treatment has shown statistically Highly Significant   (p<0.01) results on Serum Cholesterol and LDL.  As the study was conducted to know the combined effect of Bahyaupakrama along with the Lekhanabasti, the usefulness of individual Upakrama found limited.  So probably administration of these upakramas in single dimension one after the other along with proper diet and physical exercise in frequent intervals may yield good results

Myasthenia Gravis (MG) is a long-term neuromuscular disease that leads to varying degrees of skeletal muscle weakness. The underlying defect is a decrease in the number of available acetylcholine receptors (AChRs) at neuromuscular junctions due to an antibody mediated autoimmune attack. The most commonly affected muscles are those of the eyes, face and swallowing. The cause of this disease can be understood in view of Upahata Dhatu Ushma, Srotas and Marutha respectively. The present observation was conducted with an objective to find out the efficacy of Ayurvedic management in Myasthenia gravis. Here is a case of 50years old Hindu female who was diagnosed as myasthenia gravis (MG) reported with complaining of slurred speech, low pitch of voice, difficulty to open the mouth and to swallow food and weakness in the both upper limbs since 4months was registered in OPD of SKAMCH&RC, Bengaluru. Considering the signs and symptoms patient was treated on the line of Ardita Vata chikitsa, Sarvanga Abhyanga with Moorchita tila taila, Nasya with Yashtimadhu taila, Gandusha with Erimedadi taila, Jihwa nirlekhana with Vacha churna were done. Treatment shows significant improvement in the symptoms without any side effects

We are in the era where human is running in short of time in order to achieve his goals and to fulfil his worldly luxurious desires and due to the sedentary life-style, a significant increase in the prevalence of obesity is found in almost all the age groups in the past few decades. Obesity is the major risk factors for numerous chronic diseases like diabetes mellitus.Pre-diabetes is the precursor stage to diabetes mellitus in which not all of the symptoms required to label a person as diabetic are present, but blood sugar levels are at borderline or little higher than normal range but not high enough to diagnose as diabetes. The management of Prameha Poorvarupa is explained as Ubhayatashodhana specially in Madhyamvayas. In metropolitan cities like Bangalore person’s life style and food habits causes vitiations of Pitta Dosha. And Virechana is the ultimate kind of Shodhana In Pittaja Vikaras. Hence Vriechana is chosen As Shodhana procedure and to conduct Shodhana. Before conducting Shodhana Rookshana is to be done As Poorvakarma In Mamsala, Meduraa, Bhurishlema And Vishamagni Person.Hence, the study conducted here is in 10 Madhyam Vayas and Pre-diabetes patients, who were subjected to Triphaladi Udvartana which is discussed as Apatarpana yoga in Santarpaniya Adhyaya followed by Virechana. Statistically highly significant results were found in - Ati Trishna, Nidradhikyata, Sweda Adhikya, Angagouravata and Alasya and the objective parameters- body weight, BMI, circumference of hip, abdomen and thigh, skin fold thickness of biceps and triceps (p= <0.001).

Polyvinyl alcohol–iron oxide nanocomposite (PVA-Fe2O3 NC) films have been formed when iron oxide nanoparticles (Fe2O3 NPs) are incorporated into a polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) base matrix. In this study, for the preparation of a series of PVA-Fe2O3 NC films, different weight percentages (0, 2, 4, 6, and 8 wt. %) of Fe2O3 NPs have been added into the PVA solution using the solution cast method. The morphological and spectroscopic properties of the PVA-Fe2O3 NC films have been studied using X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and ultraviolet-visible spectrophotometry (UV-Vis) spectroscopy techniques. XRD studies reveal that the original structure of the Fe2O3 NPs is preserved in the PVA-Fe2O3 NC films, and the crystallinity of the PVA-Fe2O3NC films has been increased. The SEM images confirm that the Fe2O3 NPs have been homogeneously distributed in 3-dimension with dots and rod-like structures. The UV-visible investigations have been carried out for the series of PVA-Fe2O3 NC films, which result in a significant change in opto-electronic properties. With an increasing weight percentage of Fe2O3 NPs in the PVA-Fe2O3 NC films, the direct bandgap decreased from 5.39 eV to 5.01 eV, the indirect bandgap decreased from 4.73 eV to 3.27 eV, the Urbach energy increased from 0.428 eV to 0.538 eV, the linear refractive index increased from 1.63 to 5.86, and the extinction coefficient increased from 1.86 X 10-6 to 1.74 X 10-5. These results have shown that the spectroscopic properties of PVA-Fe2O3 NC films are modified considerably with the small addition of Fe2O3 NPs in the PVA matrix, which are useful for optoelectronic applications

The change in the classification of Rheumatoid Arthritis under various headings over the past few decades gives an insight to the pathology that requires a deeper understanding.  Considering the role of immune mediating cells, progressive involvement of multiple joints & other systems, reduction in functional capacity, no other group of diseases is responsible for greater loss of earnings. The incidence of Rheumatoid Arthritis increases between 25 and 55years of age, after which it plateaus until the age of 75 and then decreases.Ayurveda understands this disease on the lines of Ama formation, Agni mandhya in rasa vaha srotas primarily, which over time dysfunctions all the 3 Agni (Jatharagni, Dhatwagni, Bhootagni) resulting in Sthabdham kurute gatram. The mainstay of treatment in Rheumatoid Arthritis comprises the early use of Disease Modifying Anti Rheumatic Drugs & Corticosteroids for induction of remission. As Amavata is an Abhishyandha pradhana vyadhi, adopting any snigdha modality of treatment will cause complications, hence identifying the degree of Sama - Nirama avastha in Amavata, Rookshana is to be done prior to any Snigdha chikitsa. Hence, the aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of Rookshana before Virechana Karma in the management of Amavata / Rheumatoid Arthritis. In this present clinical trial conducted in Varsha rtu, 10 diagnosed patients of Amavata / Rheumatoid Arthritis were selected. Statistical analysis showed highly significant improvement p <0.001 in almost all subjective & objective parameters of Amavata

ROLE OF PANCHAKARMA IN PARKINSONS DISEASE - A CASE STUDY

    Get PDF
Parkinsons disease is a degenerative disorder of the central nervous system. The motor symptoms of Parkinsons disease result from the death of dopamine-generating cells in the substantia nigra, a region of the midbrain; the cause of this cell death is unknown. Early in the course of disease symptoms include (1) shaking (tremor) (2)  rigidity (3) slowness of movement  (bradykinesia) and (4) difficulty with walking and gait (postural instability). Later, cognitive and behavioral problems may arise, with dementia commonly occurring in the advanced stages of the disease. Other symptoms include sensory, sleep and emotional problems. In Ayurveda, most of the diseases of the Vata are essentially the conditions of degenerative diseases of the nervous system. Kampa vata is one condition which is caused by imbalance of Vata. The treatment of Kampavata consists of both internal and external administration of drugs in different forms aimed to reverse the Vata imbalance. Here a case of 75 years male patient presented with tremors in both hands and postural instability and the pathology of which is to be identified with Dhatukshayaja Vata Vyadhi which is provisionally diagnosed as Kampavata and its line of treatment was adopted based on Nirupasthambita Vata Vyadhi Chikitsa. The present case reveals certain set of Panchakarma modalities of treatments showing significant improvement in the symptoms of Parkinsons disease without causing any side effects
