Twisted mass chiral perturbation theory for 2+1+1 quark flavours
We present results for the masses of pseudoscalar mesons in twisted mass
lattice QCD with a degenerate doublet of u and d quarks and a non-degenerate
doublet of s and c quarks in the framework of next-to-leading order chiral
perturbation theory, including lattice effects up to O(a^2). The masses depend
on the two twist angles for the light and heavy sectors. For maximal twist in
both sectors, O(a)-improvement is explicitly exhibited. The mixing of
flavour-neutral mesons is also discussed, and results in the literature for the
case of degenerate s and c quarks are corrected.Comment: LaTeX2e, 12 pages, corrected typo
Whispering Gallery States of Antihydrogen
We study theoretically interference of the long-living quasistationary
quantum states of antihydrogen atoms, localized near a concave material
surface. Such states are an antimatter analog of the whispering gallery states
of neutrons and matter atoms, and similar to the whispering gallery modes of
sound and electro-magnetic waves. Quantum states of antihydrogen are formed by
the combined effect of quantum reflection from van der Waals/Casimir-Polder
(vdW/CP) potential of the surface and the centrifugal potential. We point out a
method for precision studies of quantum reflection of antiatoms from vdW/CP
potential; this method uses interference of the whispering gallery states of

Discovery-led refinement in e-discovery investigations: sensemaking, cognitive ergonomics and system design.
Given the very large numbers of documents involved in e-discovery investigations, lawyers face a considerable challenge of collaborative sensemaking. We report findings from three workplace studies which looked at different aspects of how this challenge was met. From a sociotechnical perspective, the studies aimed to understand how investigators collectively and individually worked with information to support sensemaking and decision making. Here, we focus on discovery-led refinement; specifically, how engaging with the materials of the investigations led to discoveries that supported refinement of the problems and new strategies for addressing them. These refinements were essential for tractability. We begin with observations which show how new lines of enquiry were recursively embedded. We then analyse the conceptual structure of a line of enquiry and consider how reflecting this in e-discovery support systems might support scalability and group collaboration. We then focus on the individual activity of manual document review where refinement corresponded with the inductive identification of classes of irrelevant and relevant documents within a collection. Our observations point to the effects of priming on dealing with these efficiently and to issues of cognitive ergonomics at the humanâcomputer interface. We use these observations to introduce visualisations that might enable reviewers to deal with such refinements more efficiently
Multi-layered Spectral Formation in SNe Ia Around Maximum Light
We use the radiative transfer code PHOENIX to study the line formation of the
wavelength region 5000-7000 Angstroms. This is the region where the SNe Ia
defining Si II feature occurs. This region is important since the ratio of the
two nearby silicon lines has been shown to correlate with the absolute blue
magnitude. We use a grid of LTE synthetic spectral models to investigate the
formation of line features in the spectra of SNe Ia. By isolating the main
contributors to the spectral formation we show that the ions that drive the
spectral ratio are Fe III, Fe II, Si II, and S II. While the first two strongly
dominate the flux transfer, the latter two form in the same physical region
inside of the supernova. We also show that the naive blackbody that one would
derive from a fit to the observed spectrum is far different than the true

High frequency dynamics in a monatomic glass
The high frequency dynamics of glassy Selenium has been studied by Inelastic
X-ray Scattering at beamline BL35XU (SPring-8). The high quality of the data
allows one to pinpoint the existence of a dispersing acoustic mode for
wavevectors () of nm, helping to clarify a previous
contradiction between experimental and numerical results. The sound velocity
shows a positive dispersion, exceeding the hydrodynamic value by 10%
at nm. The dependence of the sound attenuation
, reported for other glasses, is found to be the low- limit of a
more general law which applies also to the

A prescriptive approach to qualify and quantify customer value for value-based requirements engineering
Recently, customer-based product development is becoming a popular paradigm. Customer expectations and needs can be identified and transformed into requirements for product design with the help of various methods and tools. However, in many cases, these models fail to focus on the perceived value that is crucial when customers make the decision of purchasing a product. In this paper, a prescriptive approach to support value-based requirements engineering (RE) is proposed, describing the foundations, procedures and initial applications in the context of RE for commercial aircraft. An integrated set of techniques, such as means-ends analysis, part-whole analysis and multi-attribute utility theory is introduced in order to understand customer values in depth and width. Technically, this enables identifying the implicit value, structuring logically collected statements of customer expectations and performing value modelling and simulation. Additionally, it helps to put in place a system to measure customer satisfaction that is derived from the proposed approach. The approach offers significant potential to develop effective value creation strategies for the development of new product
