Hard exclusive photoproduction of mesons
We calculate the differential cross section and single-polarization
observables for the reaction within perturbative QCD,
treating the proton as a quark-diquark system. The phenomenological couplings
of gauge bosons to (spatially extended) diquarks and the quark-diquark
distribution amplitude of the proton are adopted from previous investigations
of baryon form factors and two-photon processes. Going beyond leading order, we
take into account hadron-mass effects by means of a systematic expansion in the
small parameter (hadron mass/ photon energy). With the -meson
distribution amplitude taken from the literature our predictions for the
differential cross section at | t | \agt 4 \text{GeV}^2 seem to provide a
reasonable extrapolation of the low-t data and are also comparable in magnitude
with the results of a two-gluon exchange model in which the gluons are
considered as a remnant of the pomeron. For momentum transfers of a few GeV
hadron-mass effects appear still to be sizeable.Comment: 37 pages, 7 figures, uses RevTeX styl
Azimuthal Correlations in Photon-Photon Collisions
Using the general helicity formula for collisions, we are
showing that it should be possible to determine a number of independent
``structure functions'', i.e. linear combinations of elements of the two-photon
helicity tensor, through azimuthal correlations in two-body or quasi two-body
reactions induced by the photon-photon interaction, provided certain
experimental conditions are satisfied. Numerical results of our computations

Production Processes as a Tool to Study Parameterizations of Quark Confinement
We introduce diquarks as separable correlations in the two-quark Green's
function to facilitate the description of baryons as relativistic three-quark
bound states. These states then emerge as solutions of Bethe-Salpeter equations
for quarks and diquarks that interact via quark exchange. When solving these
equations we consider various dressing functions for the free quark and diquark
propagators that prohibit the existence of corresponding asymptotic states and
thus effectively parameterize confinement. We study the implications of
qualitatively different dressing functions on the model predictions for the
masses of the octet baryons as well as the electromagnetic and strong form
factors of the nucleon. For different dressing functions we in particular
compare the predictions for kaon photoproduction, , and
associated strangeness production, with experimental data.
This leads to conclusions on the permissibility of different dressing

Study of Inclusive J/psi Production in Two-Photon Collisions at LEP II with the DELPHI Detector
Inclusive J/psi production in photon-photon collisions has been observed at
LEP II beam energies. A clear signal from the reaction gamma gamma -> J/psi+X
is seen. The number of observed N(J/psi -> mu+mu-) events is 36 +/- 7 for an
integrated luminosity of 617 pb^{-1}, yielding a cross-section of
sigma(J/psi+X) = 45 +/- 9 (stat) +/- 17 (syst) pb. Based on a study of the
event shapes of different types of gamma gamma processes in the PYTHIA program,
we conclude that (74 +/- 22)% of the observed J/psi events are due to
`resolved' photons, the dominant contribution of which is most probably due to

Measurements of psi(2S) decays to octet baryon-antibaryon pairs
With a sample of 14 million psi(2S) events collected by the BESII detector at
the Beijing Electron Positron Collider (BEPC), the decay channels psi(2S)->p
p-bar, Lambda Lambda-bar, Sigma0 Sigma0-bar, Xi Xi-bar are measured, and their
branching ratios are determined to be (3.36+-0.09+-0.24)*10E-4,
(3.39+-0.20+-0.32)*10E-4, (2.35+-0.36+-0.32)*10E-4, (3.03+-0.40+-0.32)*10E-4,
respectively. In the decay psi(2S)->p p-bar, the angular distribution parameter
alpha is determined to be 0.82+-0.17+-0.04.Comment: 8 pages, 8 figure
Study of J/psi decays to Lambda Lambdabar and Sigma0 Sigma0bar
The branching ratios and Angular distributions for J/psi decays to Lambda
Lambdabar and Sigma0 Sigma0bar are measured using BESII 58 million J/psi.Comment: 11 pages, 5 figure
Measurements of J/psi --> p \bar{p}
The process J/\psi --> p \bar{p} is studied using 57.7 X 10^6 J/\psi events
collected with the BESII detector at the Beijing Electron Positron Collider.
The branching ratio is determined to be Br(J/\psi --> p \bar{p})=(2.26 +- 0.01
+- 0.14) X 10^{-3}, and the angular distribution is well described by
\frac{dN}{d cos\theta_p}=1+\alpha\cos^2\theta_p with \alpha = 0.676 +- 0.036 +-
0.042, where \theta_p is the angle between the proton and beam directions. The
value of \alpha obtained is in good agreement with the predictions of

A suggestion for investigating electron-muon and electron-pion scattering with electron-positron colliding beams
We show that it is possible, in principle, to study the scattering between an "almost real" muon or pion and an electron in an e– e+ colliding beam experiment where one large-angle electron and one large-angle muon or pion would be measured in the final state. In the muon case, the counting rate should be high enough to allow this experiment to be performed with electron-positron storage rings of the next generation
