    The Effect of Use Concept Cartoons Attitudes of First Grade Elementary Students Towards Science and Technology Course

    The purpose of this study is to specify the effect of the use of concept cartoons in teaching science and technology in the First Grade of Elementary Education attitudes of elementary students towards the science and technology course. Pre-test and post-test, and a quasi-experimental design without control group were utilized in study. The research was conducted with the fourth and fifth graders in the AytenSabanDiri and UlubatliHasan elementary schools (76 students) located in the Ankara province in spring term of the 2009-2010 academic year. study, has15-item 5 point likert "Attitude Scale for Science" prepared by Geban et al., (1994) was used as pre-test and post-test. At the end of the study a significant difference was determined in favor of post-test scores between pre-test and post-test scores of the attitude of elementary education students towards the science course.     Levels of Providing the Oecd New Millennium Learner Criteria of the Prospective Teachers Studying in Primary School Teaching Undergraduate Program

    The basic purpose of this study is to determine the extent to which the NML criteria determined by the OECD in 2006 apply for the said prospective teachers. It can be observed that prospective teachers have a medium level of meeting NML criteria and according to their own perceptions they are indecisive; the level of meeting NML criteria of prospective elementary teachers in the 4th year are significantly higher than those of the students of the 1st year; the level of meeting NML criteria of male prospective teachers are significantly higher than that of female prospective teachers.     Comparing Different Readability Formulas On The Examples Of Science-Technology And Social Science Textbooks

    The aim of this article is to compare various formulas to determine the readability levels of texts in 4th and 5th grade Social Science and Science-Technology text books. For this purpose, "Flesch, FOG, Gunning, Sonmez and Atesman" readability formulas were used. The study sample comprised of randomly selected 4 texts which were used in 4th and 5th grade Social Science and Science-Technology textbooks in the 2009-2010 academic year at Ankara. As a result, when the readability levels of texts in the textbooks are examined, it has been revealed that the results of formulas' are not consistent with each other.     Anemia, transfusion and bleeding independently increase the risk of complications and mortality in cardiac surgery. The main goals of patient blood management are to treat anemia, prevent bleeding, and optimize the use of blood products during the perioperative period. The benefit of this program has been confirmed in many studies and its utilization is strongly recommended by professional organizations. This consensus report has been prepared by the authors who are the task members appointed by the Turkish Society of Cardiovascular Surgery, Turkish Society of Cardiology (TSC), and Society of Cardio-Vascular-Thoracic Anaesthesia and Intensive Care to raise the awareness of patient blood management.
