Organizational Culture and Corporate Governance in Russia : A Study of Managerial Turnover
In this paper, we investigate the possible impacts of ownership structure and corporate performance on managerial turnover using a unique dataset of Russian corporations. We argue that Russia is regarded as a country with a highly authoritarian and collectivism-oriented national culture and this peculiarity is the key to disentangling the puzzle of the statistically weaker relationship between firm performance and CEO renewal in Russian firms. Standing on this viewpoint, we deal with not only CEO dismissal, but also managerial turnover within a company as a whole. By conducting multinomial analysis that incorporates both factors, we found significant relationship between firm performance and CEO dismissal, while, consistent with most previous studies, a standard logit analysis of CEO turnover revealed no clear relationships. We also found that the presence of a dominant shareholder significantly increases the likelihood of turnover of whole management team, while foreign ownership tends to cause partial (CEO only) turnover. Our empirical result is consistent with the "cultural view" of management practice as put forward by House et al. (2004).organizational culture, corporate governance, managerial turnover, Russia

Learning Fair Division from Bandit Feedback
This work addresses learning online fair division under uncertainty, where a
central planner sequentially allocates items without precise knowledge of
agents' values or utilities. Departing from conventional online algorithm, the
planner here relies on noisy, estimated values obtained after allocating items.
We introduce wrapper algorithms utilizing \textit{dual averaging}, enabling
gradual learning of both the type distribution of arriving items and agents'
values through bandit feedback. This approach enables the algorithms to
asymptotically achieve optimal Nash social welfare in linear Fisher markets
with agents having additive utilities. We establish regret bounds in Nash
social welfare and empirically validate the superior performance of our
proposed algorithms across synthetic and empirical datasets
Rare B decays in a single Universal Extra Dimension scenario
Exclusive rare ,
and decays are studied within the Applequist-Cheng-Dobrescu
model, an extension of the Standard Model in presence of universal extra
dimensions. In the case of a single universal extra dimension compactified on a
circle of radius R, we study the dependence of several observables on 1/R, and
discuss whether the hadronic uncertainty due to the form factors obscures or
not such a dependence. We find that, using present data, it is possible in many
cases to put a sensible lower bound to 1/R, the most stringent one coming from

cytokine profile of PFAPA
Objective : An attempt was made to identify characteristic cytokine profiles to distinguish periodic fever with aphthous stomatitis, pharyngitis and cervical adenitis syndrome (PFAPAS) from recurrent tonsillitis, of which clinical manifestations are similar to those of PFAPAS in children. Methods : Serum concentrations of IL-6, IL-4 and IFN-Îł were measured during febrile episodes in pediatric patients. Results : The levels of IL-6 during febrile episodes were markedly increased above the upper limit of normal ranges in patients with both PFAPAS and recurrent tonsillitis, but there were no significant differences between groups. The levels of IL-4 during febrile episodes in PFAPAS patients were significantly lower than those in recurrent tonsillitis patients. The levels of IFN-Îł during febrile episodes in PFAPAS patients were significantly higher than those in recurrent tonsillitis patients. Conclusion : In pediatric patients with PFAPAS, despite an increase of IL-6, IL-4 was suppressed with a marked increase of IFN-Îł during febrile episodes. On the contrary, in febrile pediatric patients with recurrent tonsillitis, both IL-6 and IL-4, but not IFN-Îł were increased. The characteristic cytokine profiles of IL-6, IL-4 and IFN-Îł can be used for differential diagnosis of PFAPAS from recurrent tonsillitis in children in clinical ear, nose and throat (ENT) settings
Triaxial deformation in 10Be
The triaxial deformation in Be is investigated using a microscopic
model. The states of two valence neutrons are classified
based on the molecular-orbit (MO) model, and the -orbit is introduced
about the axis connecting the two -clusters for the description of the
rotational bands. There appear two rotational bands comprised mainly of and , respectively, at low excitation energy, where the two
valence neutrons occupy or orbits. The
triaxiality and the -mixing are discussed in connection to the molecular
structure, particularly, to the spin-orbit splitting. The extent of the
triaxial deformation is evaluated in terms of the electro-magnetic transition
matrix elements (Davydov-Filippov model, Q-invariant model), and density
distribution in the intrinsic frame. The obtained values turned out to be

When does facial synkinesis develop?
The objective of this study is to clarify when facial palsy patients with lower value of Electroneurography (ENoG) should begin the rehabilitation to prevent the development of facial synkinesis. For this purpose, we examined the relationship between the value of ENoG measured 10-14 days after facial palsy onset and the onset day of the development of oral-ocular synkinesis. Sixteen patients with facial palsy including 11 with Bellâs palsy and 5 with Ramsay Hunt syndrome (7 men and 9 women ; 15-73 years old ; mean age, 41.6 years) were enrolled in this study. There was no correlation between ENoG value and the onset day of the development of oral-ocular synkinesis (Ï = .09, p = .73). Oral-ocular synkinesis began to develop in 4.0 ± 0.7 months (mean ± SD ; range : 3.1-5.0 months) after facial palsy onset regardless of ENoG value. In conclusion, ENoG value cannot predict when facial synkinesis develops in patients with facial palsy. We recommend that facial palsy patients with a high risk for the development of synkinesis begin the biofeedback rehabilitation with mirror to prevent the development of facial synkinesis 3 months after facial palsy onset
Search for the h_c meson in B^+- ->h_c K^+-
We report a search for the meson via the decay chain , \etac \gamma with and
. No significant signals are observed. We obtain upper limits on the
branching fractions for in bins of the
invariant mass. The results are based on an analysis of 253
fb of data collected by the Belle detector at the KEKB
collider.Comment: 12 pages, 6 figures, submitted to Phys. Rev.
