    Dynamics of cell population structure in liver biopsy of the patients with chronic hepatitis viral infection

    The cell population analysis of liver biopsies from the patients with both chronic hepatitis, chronic viral hepatitis C (HCV) and chronic viral hepatitis B (HBV) included the comparative evaluation of the specific part of non-parenchymal elements, analysis of the liver plates and sinusoids areas, the cell population of liver plates and sinusoids, the caryometric description of different types of cells. The essential difference of similar quantitative indexes in the biopsy specimens of patients with HCV and НВV was revealed and discussed. In total, the quantitative analysis of cell population structure in liver biopsies during the course of chronic hepatitis, especially in the case of defective biopsies, could be used for diagnostics and prognoses by expert evaluation

    Randomized Controlled Parallel-Design Clinical Study of the Efficacy and Safety of Intranasal Interferon gamma in Treatment of Influenza-Like Infections

    Background: Influenza is a highly variable infection that can cause fatal complications. Universal approaches, such as general stimulation of the immune system to activate its natural antiviral capacities, seem to be a rational measure. Methods: A total of 410 patients with influenza-like infections (ILI) were randomly assigned to one of three treatment groups and one control group. Interferon gamma (IFN-γ) was administered by intranasal introduction of 1 to 3 drops into each nostril 5 times per day daily for 5 days. The first dose of investigational medicine was given within 48h of the onset of the influenza-like symptoms. One drop of the solution contains 1,000 IU of active substance. All patients received basic complex therapy without any antiviral or immunomodulating agents. The patients were followed up for 7 days. Treatment efficacy was evaluated by the mean duration of symptoms (MDS), the period of viral antigen detection (VAD) measured after 1-2 and 4-5 days of treatment, and the incidence of complications. We used conventional indicators to evaluate the safety of IFN-γ in the treatment of ILI. Results: The administration of 2 or 3 drops of IFN-γ in each nasal passage led to better outcomes manifested in the considerable (P<0.05) reduction of all acute respiratory symptoms, and therefore to a more rapid recovery. In these treatment groups, statistically significant decreases for MDS values, VAD period, and incidence of complications were registered.     Procedure for Determining the Thermoelastic State of A Reinforced Concrete Bridge Beam Strengthened with Methyl Methacrylate

    This paper reports the analysis of methods for determining temperature stresses and deformations in bridge structures under the influence of climatic temperature changes in the environment. A one-dimensional model has been applied to determine the temperature field and thermoelastic state in order to practically estimate the temperature fields and stresses of strengthened beams taking into consideration temperature changes in the environment. The temperature field distribution has been determined in the vertical direction of a reinforced concrete beam depending on the thickness of the structural reinforcement with methyl methacrylate. It was established that there is a change in the temperature gradient in a contact between the reinforced concrete beam and reinforcement. The distribution of temperature stresses in the vertical direction of a strengthened reinforced concrete beam has been defined, taking into consideration the thickness of the reinforcement with methyl methacrylate and the value of its elasticity module. It was established that the thickness of the reinforcement does not have a significant impact on increasing stresses while increasing the elasticity module of the structural reinforcement leads to an increase in temperature stresses. The difference in the derived stress values for a beam with methyl methacrylate reinforcement with a thickness of 10 mm and 20 mm, at elasticity module E=15,000 MPa, is up to 3 % at positive and negative temperatures. It has been found that there is a change in the nature of the distribution of temperature stresses across the height of the beam at the contact surface of the reinforced concrete beam and methyl methacrylate reinforcement. The value of temperature stresses in the beam with methyl methacrylate reinforcement and exposed to the positive and negative ambient temperatures increases by three times. It was established that the value of temperature stresses is affected by a difference in the temperature of the reinforced concrete beam and reinforcement, as well as the physical and mechanical parameters of the investigated structural materials of the beam and the structural reinforcement with methyl methacrylat
