    Abstract : This article is intended to describe the research result on the use of Question and Answer Game in improving The Fifth Grade students’ Vocabulary Achievement and Their Active Participation. The research problem was the students’ difficulties in learning new vocabulary as well as memorizing the meaning of the words. To solve this problem, Question and Answer Game was used to improve students’ Vocabulary Achievement and Their Active Participation.     Abstract : This research was intended to investigate whether or not there was a significant effect of using Think-Pair-Share technique on the eighth grade students’ reading comprehension achievement at SMPN 3 Bangsalsari Jember. Especially in reading comprehension, many students still have difficulties in understanding the reading text. Thus, the teacher’s roles becomes important in teaching learning process especially in selecting the suitable teaching learning model to make the students easier in comprehending the English reading text. One of the techniques that can be used and applied by the teacher is Think-Pair-Share technique. Think-Pair-Share technique is one of the types of cooperative learning that consist of three steps; Think, Pair and Share. Thus, to know whether or not there was a significant effect of using Think-Pair-Share technique on reading comprehension achievement; Think-Pair-Share technique was used as teaching technique in teaching reading in this research.     Abstract : Writing skill is a language skill that is very important to learn for students and considered as a complex and difficult subject. It is because writing forces students to think about the topic, develop the topic, and arrange ideas into a good composition. This research was intended to improve the seventh-A grade students’ descriptive text writing achievement at MTs Zahrotul Islam Dringu Probolinggo by using error correction feedback. Therefore, classroom action research was conducted. In the writing achievement test cycle 1, the students who got score ≥ 70 were 20 students or 80% and the students who got score under 70 were 5 students or 20%. In conclusion, the use of error correction feedback could improve the seventh-A grade students’ descriptive text writing achievement at MTs Zahrotul Islam Dringu Probolinggo.     IMPROVING THE 8TH GRADE STUDENTS’ VOCABULARY ACHIEVEMENT BY USING PICTURE FILES AT SMP NURIS JEMBER IN THE 2011/2012 ACADEMIC YEAR

    Abstract : This research was intended to improve the 8thgrade students vocabulary achievement and active participation in teaching learning process by using picture files. The research subject was the 8th grade studentsof SMP Nuris Jember because this school had only one single class of the 8th grade students and their mean score was 62.02 or 27.8%  which was less then 70 as standart score of school. The data collection methods used were vocabulary achievement test and observation. The results of post test were analysedbyusing the formula and.The action was considered successful if the students’ mean score in vocabulary test was ≥ 70. The results of observation during the implimentation of the action were analysed by using the formula .The action was considered successful if the students’ were active in the vocabulary learning process was ≥ 75%. The mean score in the scicle 1 was 67.8 or 55.6% and the result ofthe studens’ active participation in cycle 1 was 68.05% it concluded that the action given in the first cycle had not been successful yet. As the result, we conducted cycle 2 with revising the clear and big picture, not only the teacher had picture files but students too, the teacher gave the text in each groupin cycle 2. The mean score in the scicle 2 was 72.9 or 77.8% and the result ofthe studens’ active participation in cycle 2 was 81.95%. It was concluded that the action given in the second cycle showed improvement and successfully achieved the evaluation criteria of this research. Therefore, the actions were stoped because this classroom action research had already been successful both in the students’ vocabulary achievement and the students’ active participation.Some suggestions were proposed to the English teacher to apply picture files in teaching vocabulary so that help them easily understand the material taught.     Abstract : Vocabulary is the most important aspect of a language that must be mastered by the students who learn a language. In general, students have difficulty in learning English, especially in vocabulary because they lack of vocabulary and grammar of L1. Therefore, the English teacher is expected to be able to cover the students’ problems in vocabulary mastery. This research is intended to describe class X-2 students’ vocabulary mastery by using Narrative texts taken from the Internet on the vocabulary mastery. As many as 38 students from class X-2 who were detemined purposively became the subject of this research.     The Effect of Using Numbered Heads Together Technique on Reading Comprehension Achievement of the Eight Grade Students at SMP Islam Gumukmas

    This research was a quasi-experimental research using post-test only control group design. The purpose of this research was to know whether or not there was a significant effect of using Numbered Heads Together Technique on reading comprehension achievement of the eight grade students. The research respondents were the students of VIII A and VIII C of SMP Islam Gumukmas. In this research, the students of VIII A were assigned as the experimental group who were taught by using Numbered Heads Together Technique. Meanwhile, the students of class VIII C were assigned as the who were taught by using Lecturing Technique. Before the research was conducted, the researcher had conducted a homogeneity test to know whether the population was homogeneous or not. The result showed that the population was heterogeneous, so the researcher chose the respondents of the research from two classes that had the same or the closest mean difference. The data collection method used was purposive method. There were two kinds of data in this research, primary data and supporting data. The primary data in this research was collected from the students’ reading score. The supporting data was collected by using interview and documentation. The primary data were analyzed using independent sample t- test. The result of the data analysis proved that the application Numbered Heads Together Technique significantly affected the eighth grade students’ reading comprehension achievement. It can be seen from the result of statistical computation value of t-test which was higher than the value of t-table with significant level of 5% (5,37>1,98). This means that the null hypothesis (Ho) was rejected and the alternate hypothesis (Ha) was accepted. Based on the results of hypothesis verification, it can be concluded that there was a significant effect of using Numbered Heads Together Technique on Reading Comprehension Achievement of the Eighth Grade Students at SMP Islam Gumukmas, Jember in the 2014/2015 academic year.   Keywords :Experimental Research, Reading Comprehension Achievement, Numbered Heads Together Technique

    IMPROVING THE EIGHTH GRADE STUDENTS’ READING COMPREHENSION ACHIEVEMENT BY USING JIGSAW IV TECHNIQUE AT SMPN 1 RAMBIPUJI JEMBER

    Abstract : The aim of this research is to improve the Class 8A students’ reading comprehension achievement by using Jigsaw IV technique at SMPN 1 Rambipuji Jember. The respondents of this research were Class 8A students of SMPN 1 Rambipuji Jember in the 2012/2013 academic year. The research respondents were determined purposively based the result of the previous reading test score got from the English teachers. The data of this research were obtained from the students’ scores of reading comprehension test, interview, documentation and observation. Based on the results of reading comprehension test in Cycle 1 and 2, it showed that there was improvement of the number of students who got scores more than 71. There were 48.64% of the Class 8A students who achieved the standard score in Cycle 1 while in Cycle 2, the number was improved to 78.37%. It indicated that the number of students who achieved the standard score improved and reached the target percentage of this research that was 75% of the total number of the Class 8A students got more than 71.     A Study on the Seventh Grade Students' Reading Comprehension Ability of Descriptive Texts at SMPN 6 Jember

    Abstrak. Reading is very important for the students in learning English, especially for the students. The students are able to comprehend what they read to get the ideas and make a conclusion about the information from the text as intended by the writer. The design of this research was descriptive qualitative research. This research began by conducting a preliminary study by interviewing the English teacher of the seventh grade students of SMPN 6 Jember. The data of this research were collected from the students' of reading comprehension ability test that was analyzed by using the formula. The result of the students' reading comprehension ability of descriptive texts covering word comprehension, sentence comprehension, paragraph comprehension and text comprehension were showed the highest percentage of four indicators was word comprehension with the percentage 83.08% which belonged to the “very good” category and the lowest percentage was the text comprehension with the percentage 57.89% that was classified as “poor” category. It showed that the teaching English in reading comprehension ability of descriptive texts needs to be developed especially in the lowest category that was belonged to text comprehension.   Keywords : Descriptive Research, Descriptive Texts, Reading Comprehension Ability
