Neutron Star Properties from an NJL Model Modified to Simulate Confinement
The NJL model has recently been extended with a method to simulate
confinement. This leads in mean field approximation to a natural mechanism for
the saturation of nuclear matter. We use the model to investigate the equation
of state of asymmetric nuclear matter and then use it to compute the properties

Statistical Properties of Height of Japanese Schoolchildren
We study height distributions of Japanese schoolchildren based on the
statictical data which are obtained from the school health survey by the
ministry of education, culture, sports, science and technology, Japan . From
our analysis, it has been clarified that the distribution of height changes
from the lognormal distribution to the normal distribution in the periods of

Addressing decision making for remanufacturing operations and design-for-remanufacture
Remanufacturing is a process of returning a used product to at least original equipment manufacturer original performance specification from the customers' perspective and giving the resultant product a warranty that is at least equal to that of a newly manufactured equivalent. This paper explains the need to combine ecological concerns and economic growth and the significance of remanufacturing in this. Using the experience of an international aero-engine manufacturer it discusses the impact of the need for sustainable manufacturing on organisational business models. It explains some key decision-making issues that hinder remanufacturing and suggests effective solutions. It presents a peer-validated, high-level design guideline to assist decision-making in design in order to support remanufacturing. The design guide was developed in the UK through the analysis of selections of products during case studies and workshops involving remanufacturing and conventional manufacturing practitioners as well as academics. It is one of the initial stages in the development of a robust design for remanufacture guideline
Strong coupling in the Kondo problem in the low-temperature region
The magnetic field dependence of the average spin of a localized electron
coupled to conduction electrons with an antiferromagnetic exchange interaction

strong magnetic field range , the correction to the average spin
is proportional to . In zero magnetic field, the interaction
with conduction electrons also leads to the splitting of doubly degenerate spin
impurity states
Black hole tidal problem in the Fermi normal coordinates
We derive a tidal potential for a self-gravitating fluid star orbiting Kerr
black hole along a timelike geodesic extending previous works by Fishbone and
Marck. In this paper, the tidal potential is calculated up to the third and
fourth-order terms in , where is the stellar radius and the
orbital separation, in the Fermi-normal coordinate system following the
framework developed by Manasse and Misner. The new formulation is applied for
determining the tidal disruption limit (Roche limit) of corotating Newtonian
stars in circular orbits moving on the equatorial plane of Kerr black holes. It
is demonstrated that the third and fourth-order terms quantitatively play an
important role in the Roche limit for close orbits with R/r \agt 0.1. It is
also indicated that the Roche limit of neutron stars orbiting a stellar-mass
black hole near the innermost stable circular orbit may depend sensitively on
the equation of state of the neutron star.Comment: Correct typo
