    Regional population expenditure for foodstuffs in the Russian federation: componential and cluster analyses

    The article describes the solving of the problem of conducting the component and cluster analyses of population expenditure on food as one of the most important components of the standard of living. The purpose of the analysis is to develop the regional clusters of the Russian Federation, which vary in the structure of household expenditure for foodstuffs. The foodstuffs are presented in absolute units taking into integral account the standard of living index. The methods of intellectual analysis such as component and cluster analyses are applied as the research methods. The procedure for the data intellectual analysis based on the interconnected performance of component and cluster analyses is proposed. The procedure of the data intellectual analysis considers the interrelation between the results received by different methods, and also the possibility to return to the previous method for the purpose of repeating the analysis to specify consistently the clusters composition. Few clusters of the wealthy regions characterized by the high and average levels of expenditure for foodstuffs are revealed as well as the quite many clusters of not enough wealthy and not wealthy regions characterized by the low level of expenditure for foodstuffs. It is shown that the growth of standard of living characterized by the size of a gross regional product per capita is followed by the growth of the Gini coefficient, which indicates both the inequality of income distribution and reduction in expenditure for low-value foodstuffs. The results of the analysis can be applied to the development of the decision-making support system intended for the analysis of the scenarios of macroeconomic regulation in the eld of income policy for the purpose of increasing the standard of living of population. The analysis of the population expenditure for foodstuffs has allowed to reveal the cluster structure of the regions of the Russian Federation, to show it according to the generalized indications, to formulate the specific characteristics of the clusters of the regions and important management decisions

    Mitochondrial physiology

    As the knowledge base and importance of mitochondrial physiology to evolution, health and disease expands, the necessity for harmonizing the terminology concerning mitochondrial respiratory states and rates has become increasingly apparent. The chemiosmotic theory establishes the mechanism of energy transformation and coupling in oxidative phosphorylation. The unifying concept of the protonmotive force provides the framework for developing a consistent theoretical foundation of mitochondrial physiology and bioenergetics. We follow the latest SI guidelines and those of the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC) on terminology in physical chemistry, extended by considerations of open systems and thermodynamics of irreversible processes. The concept-driven constructive terminology incorporates the meaning of each quantity and aligns concepts and symbols with the nomenclature of classical bioenergetics. We endeavour to provide a balanced view of mitochondrial respiratory control and a critical discussion on reporting data of mitochondrial respiration in terms of metabolic flows and fluxes. Uniform standards for evaluation of respiratory states and rates will ultimately contribute to reproducibility between laboratories and thus support the development of data repositories of mitochondrial respiratory function in species, tissues, and cells. Clarity of concept and consistency of nomenclature facilitate effective transdisciplinary communication, education, and ultimately further discovery

    Food Security: Results of Russian Embargo on Poultry Meat Import

    The paper presents a geographically based assessment of the volume and value of imported poultry meat into the Russian Federation under the embargo restrictions. The assessment is based on the foreign trade statistics issued by the Customs Service of the Russian Federation. In volume terms, the import of poultry meat to the Russian Federation in 2015 decreased by 14 % as compared to the volume of 2014; in value terms it decreased by 6%. The geography of the import also changed. Before the embargo, the main suppliers of poultry meat to the Russian Federation were the USA (51%), Belarus (16%) and Brazil (10%). After the embargo was introduced, the United States (30%) still remained the main supplier along with Brazil (21%). A significant market share of poultry meat supplies to the Russian Federation was captured by Belarus (26%)

    Estimation of the Mutagenic Potential of 8-Oxog in Nuclear Extracts of Mouse Cells Using the “Framed Mirror” Method

    We propose an improved earlier described “mirror” method for detecting in cell nuclear extracts mutations that arise in DNA during its replication due to the misincorporation of deoxyadenosine-5′-monophosphate (dAMP) opposite 7,8-dihydro-8-oxoguanine (8-oxoG). This method is based on the synthesis of a complementary chain (“mirror”) by nuclear extracts of different mice organs on a template containing 8-oxoG and dideoxycytidine residue (ddC) at the 3′‑end. The “mirror” was amplified by PCR using primers part of which was non-complementary to the template. It allowed obtaining the “framed mirror” products. The misincorporation of dAMP in “framed mirror” products forms an EcoRI restriction site. The restriction analysis of double-stranded “framed mirror” products allows a quantification of the mutation frequency in nuclear extracts. The data obtained show that the mutagenic potential of 8-oxoG markedly varied in different organs of adult mice and embryos

    Alterations in Synthesis and Repair of DNA during the Development of Loach Misgurnus fossilis

    Using a modified radiolabeled primer extension method (we named this modification misGvA—“misincorporation of G versus A”) we have investigated the DNA synthesis and repair at early and late stages of development of loach Misgurnus fossilis. The misincorporation activity of DNA polymerase iota (Pol ι) in wild-type loach could not be detected by this method at any stage of loach development. In transgenic loach overexpressing human Pol ι we have shown that the bypassing of DNA synthesis arrest after incorporation of mismatched nucleotide by Pol ι (the T-stop) was not associated with this enzyme. Non-transgenic loach larvae are virtually lacking the capacity for error correction of DNA duplex containing a mismatched nucleotide. Such repair activity develops only in the adult fish. It appears that the initial stages of development are characterized by more intensive DNA synthesis, while in terminal stages the repair activities become more prominent. The misGvA approach clearly indicates substantial changes in the DNA synthesis intensity, although the role of particular replicative and repair DNA polymerases in this process requires further study

The authors reveal the structural modernization regularities and the role of the fuel and energy sector as the most important component in the development of the country's productive forces. Generating a sustainable economic growth trajectory requires increasing the efficiency of using the potential of the energy sector. It is proved that the low technical and technological level of the extractive and processing industries of the fuel and energy sector, price imbalances, and the devaluation of the ruble do not meet the strategic goals of industrial development and achieving economic security

    A Study of the Influence of the HCl Concentration on the Composition and Structure of (Hydroxy)Arylsiloxanes from the Hydrolysis–Condensation Reaction of Aryltrichlorosilanes

    The hydrolysis–condensation reactions of m-tolyl, m-chlorophenyl, and α-naphtyl-trichlorsilanes, (1, 2, and 3, respectively) in water-acetone solutions were examined for how they were influenced by the change in the concentration of HCl (CHCl). The composition of the products was monitored by 29Si NMR spectroscopy and atmospheric pressure chemical ionization mass spectrometry (APCI-MS). The acidity of the medium was shown to affect the yields of the products, and so, what products were formed. For 3, e.g., APCI-MS showed peaks of α-naphtyl-T8 and α-naphtyl-T10 as the most abundant in the spectra taken after 48 and 240 h for the reaction conducted at CHCl = 0.037 mol L−1. Unlike this, at CHCl = 0.15 mol L−1, those peaks were of [α-naphtyl(HO)2SiO]2(α-naphtyl)(HO)Si and/or [α-naphtyl(HO)Si]3, [α-naphtyl(HO)Si]4,5, and α-naphtyl-T8 after 192 h. However, at both CHCl values, the main product (and an intermediate) after 24 h was trans-1,1,3,3-tetrahydroxy-1,3-di-α-naphtyldisiloxane. It was isolated and its structure established by 1H-, 29Si-NMR, and X-ray powder diffraction
