Disciplining, chastisement and physical child abuse: perceptions and attitudes of the British Pakistani community

There are a number of cross-cultural differences in people's perspectives of what constitutes physical abuse of children. The focus of the present study was to explore the British Pakistani community's perception about physical child abuse and to understand more about the values held by them in relation to child protection. The study aimed to discover issues that are important to protect the children from harm, and to describe the possibilities these issues present. The study used a questionnaire survey that focused on 16-25-year-old British Pakistani's, exploring their experiences of childhood, of physical punishment and physical child abuse. The findings indicated that although serious child abuse was not experienced by most of the respondents, 75% of respondents experienced some kind of physical punishment as part of their childhood experience. However, 72% of respondents who received such punishment in childhood accepted it as an appropriate disciplining method. The future research and policy implications with prevention in mind are discussed.</p

Analisis Variabel-variabel Penentu Cleanliness Factor dan Performance Factor untuk Meningkatkan Kinerja Kondensor Unit 1 Pltu Sektor Asam-asam

Pemanatauan kierja kondensor PT. PLN Persero Sektor Asam-Asam pada keadaan operasi membuthkan nilai Cleanliness Factor dan Performance Factor. Analisis variabel-variabel yang menentukan Clinelines Factor dan Performance Factor diperlukan agar kinerjanya dapat ditingkatkan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendapatkan nilai Cleanlines Factor dan Performance Factor, mengetahui pengaruh Perubahan beban terhadap Cleanlines Factor dan Performance Factor, mengetahui variabel-variabel mempengaruhi kinerja kondenser dan mencari solusi untuk meningkatkan performance kondensor. Nilai Cleanlines Factor didapatkan dari rasio perbandingan koefisien transfer panas total keadaan aktual terhadap koefisien transfer panas HEI sedangkan PF didapat dari rasio koefisien transfer panas total keadaan aktual terhadap koefisien transfer panas ASME. Data-data operasi menunjukkan bahwa nilai Cleanlines Factor dan Performance Factor meningkat seiring dengan meningkatnya beban pembangkitan listrik. . Hal ini membuktikan bahwa fouling bukan penyebab rendahnya nilai Cleanlines Factor dan Performance Factor. Variabel-variabel yang dianalisis yaitu suhu inlet cooling water (Tin), tekanan kondenser/back pressure (Pback) dan aliran volumetrik cooling water (Colling Water flow).Kata Kunci : Kondensor, Cleanliness Factor, Performance Facto

Field trial of a 15 Tb/s adaptive and gridless OXC supporting elastic 1000-fold all-optical bandwidth granularity

An adaptive gridless OXC is implemented using a 3D-MEMS optical backplane plus optical modules (sub-systems) that provide elastic spectrum and time switching functionality. The OXC adapts its architecture on demand to fulfill the switching requirements of incoming traffic. The system is implemented in a seven-node network linked by installed fiber and is shown to provide suitable architectures on demand for three scenarios with increasing traffic and switching complexity. In the most complex scenario, signals of mixed bit-rates and modulation formats are successfully switched with flexible per-channel allocation of spectrum, time and space, achieving over 1000-fold bandwidth granularity and 1.5 Tb/s throughput with good end-to-end performance

Analisis Pengaruh Instrumen Moneter Syariah dan Konvensional terhadap Penyaluran Dana ke Sektor Usaha Mikro Kecil dan Menengah (UMKM) di Indonesia

As monetary authority, Bank Indonesia has developed Islamic Bank Indonesia Certificate (abbreviated as SBIS) as Islamic monetary instrument in addition to Bank Indonesia Certificate (known as SBI), which has become conventional instrument. Both instruments play significant role in the transmission of monetary instrument towards real sector of the economy. Monetary transmission could take place through credit channel or financing channel, from which the fund is used as the source of credit and financing for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSME). This study aims at analyzing the impact of both Islamic and conventional monetary instruments towards MSME financing. Data used in this research is taken from Bank Indonesia, Ministry of Cooperative and SME, and Central Board of Statistics for the period of May 2006 until December 2010. The study employs Vector Auto Regression model, Impulse Response Function technique and Forecast Error Variance Decomposition (FEVD) as its analytical methods. It is found that SBI and SBIS have significant impact towards credit and financing to the MSME. When there is monetary shock, the study finds that MSME financing of Islamic bank could be recovered and stabilized better than MSME credit of conventional bank. FEVD analysis shows that the impact of SBIS towards financing of MSME is bigger than the SBI

Event by Event Analysis of High Multiplicity Events Produced in 158 A GeV/c 208 Pb- 208 Pb Collisions

An extensive analysis of individual high multiplicity events produced in 158 A GeV /c 208Pb- 208Pb collisions is carried by adopting different methods to examine the anomalous behavior of these rare events. A method of selecting the events with densely populated narrow regions or spikes out of a given sample of collision events is discussed.Employing this approach two events with large spikes in their eta- and phi- distributions are selected for further analysis. For the sake of comparison, another two events which do not exhibit such spikes are simultaneously analyzed. The findings suggest that the systematic studies of particle density fluctuations in one- and two-dimensional phase-spaces and comparison with those obtained from the studies of correlation free Monte Carlo events, would be useful for identifying the events with large dynamical fluctuations. Formation of clusters or jet like phenomena in multihadronic final states in individual events is also discussed and the experimental findings are compared with the independent particle emission hypothesis by carrying out Monte Carlo simulations

Aplikasi Larva Black Soldier Fly (Hermatia Illucens) Sebagai Pakan Alami Dan Pakan Buatan (Pelet) Untuk Ikan Rainbow Kurumoi (Melanotaenia Parva) [Application of Black Soldier Fly Larval (Hermetia Illucens) as Feed and Artificial Feed (Pellets) for Rainbow Kurumoi Fish (Melanotaenia Parva) ]

Fish flour is raw materials of main protein source for fish feed, however because of its existence day by day gets expensive so that the other alternative feed material needed as the alternate of fish flour that is maggot which is the larva of insects kind of fly which contains crude protein about 42%. This Study was held in Research and Aquaculture Cultivation Center of Ornamental Fish Depok, West Java in January 14th until February 14th 2013. The goal of this Study is to know the aplication of black soldier fly larval (Hermetia illucens) as the feed of rainbow kurumoi fish (Melanotaenia parva). Maggot culture was undertaken by mixing PKM and water with the comparison of 1:2 then fermented in fiber basin. Then interspersed with wire and above it there was a dry banana leaf to lay the eggs and covered by wire again, and then eggs harvesting was undertaken which was moved to the egg hatching basin which contain PKM which had been fermented. After 2 weeks maggot was ready to be harvested from the hatching basin. Maggot and maggot pellets could fulfill the need of nutrition for rainbow kurumoi fish, this case could be seen by the existence of weight increase and length increase of the fish

BPJS Ketenagakerjaan sebagai sebagai salah satu badan penyelenggara jaminan sosial yang dibentuk pemerintah melalui UU No. 24 tahun 2011 telah beroperasionalsejak tanggal 1 Januari 2014.BPJS Ketenagakerjaan merupakan transformasi dari PT. Jamsostek (Persero). adanya kendala jarak dan waktu bagi kabupaten/kota yang secara geografis sangat berjauhan dengan kedudukan kantorBPJS Ketenagakerjaan cabang Lampung I. Tidak meratanya penyebaran kantor cabang BPJS Ketenagakerjaan semakin memperparah hal tersebut. Bagi kontraktor hal ini dapat dijadikan alasan untuk tidak mendaftarkan proyek tersebut ke BPJS Ketenagakerjaan. Dan hal ini menimbulkan kemungkinan potensial lost penerimaan iuran proyek, disamping landasan ideal jaminan sosial yaitu memberikan perlindungan dasar akan resiko sosial tenaga kerja menjadi tidak terpenuhi. Soft System Methodology dijadikan landasan oleh peneliti untuk merancang bangun kembali sistem prosedur pelaksanaan jaminan sosial tenaga kerja bagi tenaga kerja sektor jasa konstruksi pada BPJS Ketenagakerjaan Lampung I yang efektif dan efisien. Dengan demikian dapat memangkas proses pendaftaran dan pengajuan klaim yang terkesan merepotkan, dan dapat menjawab kebutuhan akan keberadaan kantor cabang BPJS Ketenagakerjaan di setiap kabupaten/kota
