The Influence of Friction Forces in Metal Powders Compaction Process of Stainless Steel 316L

    Get PDF
The purpose of this study is to determine as precisely the influence of friction in the compaction of powders, and "conversion" of it, increasing densification. The process is intended to be used in the compaction of hard deformable materials, which increased to approximately 90% densification required very high compaction pressures. These pressures are high, significant wear of the tools produce the compaction and thereby increasing production costs of finished parts from metal powders

Moduli stacks of stable toric quasimaps

We construct new "virtually smooth" modular compactifications of spaces of maps from nonsingular curves to smooth projective toric varieties. They generalize Givental's compactifications, when the complex structure of the curve is allowed to vary and markings are included, and are the toric counterpart of the moduli spaces of stable quotients introduced by Marian, Oprea, and Pandharipande to compactify spaces of maps to Grassmannians. A brief discussion of the resulting invariants and their (conjectural) relation with Gromov-Witten theory is also included.Comment: Published versio

Measuring income inequality: comparative datasets and methodological deficiencies. An overview of income inequality in Romania during postsocialism

    No full text
The article delineates the main methodological deficiencies and datasets available for comparing income inequality at the European and world level. The article is divided in two parts. In the first part of the article, I present the main datasets and methodological deficiencies when trying to compare income inequality in the world. Although efforts have been made in the last decades to generate comparative databases, the qualities of some indicators are rather doubtful and also there is no common ground on conceptualizing inequality indicators and measuring them, some of which are income-based, while others are household expenditure-based. Then, I present two classical studies on studying income inequality after the Washington consensus. In the second part of the article I sketch an overview of rising income inequality in Romania after 1989 by presenting some income inequality indicators and comparing them with other former CEE countries. However, I will pinpoint that Romania’s case is rather exceptional in the EU and, when comparing standard income inequality indicators, further explication needs to be delivered. I conclude that while income inequality is the result of macro-structural changes that occurred during the transition to market capitalism, political decisions are not to be played-down

Some Investigations Performed for the Bridge Over Jiu at Aninoasa

    No full text
The carrying structure of the bridge over the Jiu River at Aninoasa consists in two parallel concrete arches with variable height of the cross section, sustaining a concrete deck through vertical concrete hangers. In the time period passed since the bridge was erected, some structural elements shown damages. In order to establish the technical state of the bridge, a technical appraisement was performed and according to this, the most exposed elements to the risk of failure are the hangers

Electrochemical behaviour of ternary Ni-Zn-P thin films deposition on steel substrate

    Get PDF
572-577Ternary Ni-Zn-P alloy thin films  with a thickness of 15-20 μm are considered as a replacement for cadmium sacrificial coatings for anticorrosive protection of steel parts working in highly corrosive media. Anticorrosive Ni-Zn-P thin films has been electrochemically deposited from aqueous sulphate solutions on carbon steel substrate. The influence of bath composition (variable ZnSO4·7H2O contents) and electrodeposition type (potentiostatic or galvanostatic) on physical-chemical and corrosion characteristics of obtained films have been studied. Films are characterized by energy dispersive analysis (EDAX) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The corrosion tests are performed in 3% NaCl solution with optimal resulting values of -916.2 mV vs. saturated calomel electrode (SCE) for the corrosion potential and 13.4 μA·cm-2 for the corrosion current density. The calculated value for the corrosive attack protection efficiency is 67.7%
