    Fish Assemblage Structure of the Köprüçay River Estuary (Antalya-Turkey)

    The spatial and temporal fish species assemblages were analyzed in the Köprüçay River Estuary. Fish were sampled monthly by different nets from October 2006 and March 2008. A total of 2419 individuals distributed in 12 families and 23 species were collected. The most numerically abundant species were Mugil cephalus (32,9%) and Liza aurata (17,4%). The fish comprised 11 freshwater, 9 marine, 1 estuarine and 2 migrant. Evenness and diversity index showed a consistent seasonal pattern. Canonical correspondence analysis indicated that salinity correlated with the seasonal pattern in the fish assemblage.     Virtual Laboratory: Using Electronic Workbench as Alternative Learning Physics in Covid-19 Mass Pandemic

    The purpose of this research is to describe the use of assisted virtual laboratories of Electronic Workbench (EWB) in physics experiments learning. The method in this study used (1) calibration of the results of experiments with theory and (2) analysis of user responses to EWB in practicum activities. The study concluded that: 1) EWB is easy to use for practical learning, 2) capacitive reactance values obtained from calculations and observations following the theory (close to the same), 3) the time needed for one-time trial data retrieval until the analysis phase in this practicum activity is 10 minutes means that the experiment with EWB is very efficient. Based on the results obtained indicate that EWB is feasible to use as an alternative to physics learning in the mass pandemic COVID-19

    AN EXTENSION OF THE FAILURE MODE EFFECTS AND CRITICALITY ANALYSIS WITH FUZZY ANALYTICAL HIERARCHY PROCESS METHOD TO ASSESS THE EMERGENCY SAFETY BARRIERS

    The emergency safety barrier is one of the reactive technical safety barriers in industrial facilities. Degrade of emergency safety barriers can lead to a major accident with serious consequences for people, property and the environment. In this context, the purpose of this article is to present a proposed methodology to identify these deficiencies, thus ensuring the effectiveness of the emergency safety barriers. This paper presents an integrated approach that uses fuzzy set theory, extension of failure modes, effects and criticality analysis and the fuzzy analytic hierarchy process method to deal with uncertainty in decision-making related to the prioritization of risk factors. These risk factors are the prioritization of corrective actions associated with the most critical disturbance modes to improve the reliability of emergency safety barriers. In addition, a Liquefied Petroleum Gas production facility was selected as a case study to assess the emergency safety barriers. The results show that the proposed methodology provides the possibility to evaluate the fire-fighting systems. In addition, the fuzzy analytical approach method is the most reliable and accurate. Therefore, some corrective actions are suggested to reduce the failure criticality of the emergency safety barriers and help practitioners prioritize the improvement of the emergency safety barriers of the Liquefied Petroleum Gas storage facility. This paper has an important role in the dysfunctional analysis of the emergency safety barriers related to the others effects of the release of LPG, such as the effects of domino scenarios

    Occurrence and length weight relationship of Indo-Pacific mugilid Chelon carinatus (Valenciennes 1836) in four river estuaries of Turkey

    236-240Occurence and length-weight (LWR) relationships of four populations of Chelon carinatus in brackishwater systems of Mediterranean coast of Turkey were reported. A non-indigenous fish species, C. carinatus were captured between November 2014 and June 2017 in Ceyhan, Seyhan, Göksu and Manavgat river estuaries. A total of 127 individuals, ranging in size between 11.8 and 20.8 cm total length, 19.0 and 113.6 g weight, were examined. The length–weight relationship for all individuals was described by the following parameters: a = 0.0076; b = 3.1708 and r2 = 0.93. The results of the current length-weight relationship study show that there is significant difference from the isometric b (3.0) value for all these populations. The length-weight relationships from all localities were reported here for the first time

    Parasite infection in Serranus cabrilla (Perciformes, Serranidae): histopathological aspects and new host record for nematode genus Philometra from Aegean Sea, Turkey

    ΔΕΝ ΔΙΑΤΙΘΕΤΑΙ ΠΕΡΙΛΗΨΗThis study was conducted to determine infection with nematode parasite Philometra sp. in gonads of Serranus cabrilla recorded in Izmir Gulf between October 2016 and July 2017. The overall prevalence was 14.46% and the mean intensity of infection 1.2 parasites per fish. The occurrence of philometrid infection on comber hosts was assessed according to several risk factors (fish length class, sex and season). Our findings suggest that the highest rates of parasite infection occur in larger sized fish, hermaphrodite individuals and during April month. The present report also revealed that marked hyperemia was the major findings of infected gonads of S. cabrilla, where parasitic nematodes caused a marked inflammatory reaction at the histopathological examination. As far as we know, this paper represents the first mention of genus Philometra in S. cabrilla from Turkey and the first presence of philometrid parasites in Aegean coast of Turkey. Furthermore, the present work is the first record of the effects of Philometra sp. parasitism on a serranid species in Izmir Gulf

    Distribution and length-weight relationships of the Mediterranean banded killifish (Aphanius fasciatus) in Mediterranean brackish water systems of Turkey

    553-558Aphanius fasciatus (Valenciennes, 1821), is a cyprinodontid euryhaline fish occur in many brackish water habitats along the Mediterranean coasts. The current study aims to update the range of A. fasciatus (Mediterranean Killifish, South European Toothcarp) along river estuaries and lagoon systems of Mediterranean coast of Turkey, and to determine its length–weight relationship.
