The Implementation of Communicative Language Teaching Approach in a Secondary School in Surabaya

This study is a qualitative study aimed to know the principles of CLT implemented and problems faced by a teacher in an English conversation class of eighth grades in S Secondary School. The data was taken through observation and interview. It was analyzed using Larsen-Freeman' (2000) and Brown's (2001) theories and supported by Li (1998) as cited in Ozsevik (2010). The findings revealed that out of sixteen principles, five principles were unachievable, namely using discourse language, being a facilitator, setting social context, having communicative interaction, and producing different utterances. Moreover, the main problem in implementing CLT comes from students' side, such as students' low English proficiency, passive style of learning, resistance to participate in communicative classroom activities, and lack of motivation for developing communicative competence. It can be concluded that CLT is a suitable approach in promoting communicative competence for learners as long as the teacher and the students are prepared

Brain homeostasis : VEGF receptor 1 and 2 ; two unequal brothers in mind

Vascular endothelial growth factors (VEGFs), initially thought to act specifically on the vascular system, exert trophic effects on neural cells during development and adulthood. Therefore, the VEGF system serves as a promising therapeutic target for brain pathologies, but its simultaneous action on vascular cells paves the way for harmful side effects. To circumvent these deleterious effects, many studies have aimed to clarify whether VEGFs directly affect neural cells or if the effects are mediated secondarily via other cell types, like vascular cells. A great number of reports have shown the expression and function of VEGF receptors (VEGFRs), mainly VEGFR-1 and -2, in neural cells, where VEGFR-2 has been described as the major mediator of VEGF-A signals. Upaya Pelestarian situ Berbsasis Partisipasi Masyarakat (Studi Kasus situ Cipondoh Kota Tangerang)

Upaya pelestarian situ tidak hanya merupakan tanggung jawab pemerintah saja, tetapi juga adalah tanggung jawab masyarakat. Upaya-upaya "partisipasi" dari masyarakat perlu dirancang oleh pemerintah itu sendiri. Selain itu pelestarian situ akan sulit terlaksana manakala hanya didekati secara konsep fisik, karena itu perlu dibarengi dengan pengembangan partisipasi masyarakat. Untuk itu maka perlu dibentuk struktur organisasi kelompok kerja antar pemerintah dan masyarakat yang ada di sekitar perairan situ maupun wilayah pengaliran situ tersebut sampai di tingkat unit RT dan RW, dengan cara melakukan : (1) Sosialisasai terhadap konsep pelestarian situ dan manfaatnya untuk kehidupan manusia, (2) Membuat kerangka kerja yang terencana.Dalam melakukan pelestarian situ, perlu mempertimbangkan faktor-faktor (1) Menggabungkan ruang ekologis dengan ruang administratif dalam batas wilayah administrasi Rukun Tetangga (RT)/RW, (2) Membuat Perencanaan dalan suatu kerangka kerja, (3) Memberlakukan sistem penilaian yang transparan dengan pola incentive dan disincentive, (4) Memberlakukan Sistem Pengendalian dan pengawasan pembanguna

Transportasi adalah kegiatan perpindahan orang atau barang dari satu tempat (asal) ke tempat lain (tujuan) dengan menggunakan sarana kendaraan bermotor maupun tidak bermotor. nfluence of Creativity, Self Efficacy, and Social Skills Toward Performance of Banking Employees

In the era of the Covid-19 pandemic, creativity, self-efficiency and employee social skills are urgently needed. This objective is to determine and analyze creativity, self-efficacy, and social skills on the performance of employees of Bank Muamalat Cabang Balai Kota. The population in this study may be 59 employees. This research is descriptive with a quantitative approach. The technique used in the organization and data is multiple linear regression. The results showed that based on the simultaneous test (F-test), it shows that creativity, self-efficacy, and social skills have a significant effect on the performance of employees of Bank Muamalat Cabang Balai Kota.
