Proposal on Application of the Multi-Wire Proportional Chambers of the LHCb MUON Detector at Very High Rates for the Future Upgrades

The MUON Detector (MD) of LHCb is one of the largest instruments of this kind worldwide, and one of the most irradiated. It has performed exceptionally well during the RUN1 and RUN2 of the LHC at an instantaneous luminosity of 4×\times1032^{32} cm2^{-2}s1^{-1}, with tracking inefficiencies at the level of 1%\% and 2.6%\%, respectively. Looking forward for the future LHCb Upgrade 2 (U2) planned in 2031 and aiming in running the detector at increased luminosity by a factor \sim50, and at the same time keeping a very high (\sim99%\%) detection efficiency, an option with reuse significant part of the present Multi-Wire Proportional Chambers (MWPC) in a new Muon System is presented. In addition, the first idea of new Front End Electronics (FEE) and an existing test setup applicable for designing both: new MWPCs with a higher granularity of the cathode readout pads and new FEE are described

    PHOTOLUMINSECNCE OF SPONGE-LIKE NANOPOROUS ALUMINA

Sponge-like nanoporous aluminum oxide was grown by anodizing in hydrofluoricacid under constant voltage. Photoluminescence (PL) regularities of the structures were studied. Synthesized alumina under daylight had spontaneous blue emission with power up to 10 μW visible by naked eye.The spectral features of wide emission band with maximum at 440–480 nm, which was attributed to single or complex F-type centers, were investigated in 370–600 nm range

    Micro-CT-based analysis of fibre-reinforced composites:Applications

    Get PDF
The paper presents an overview of cases in which the analysis of the internal structure and mechanical properties of fibre reinforced composites is performed based on the micro-computed X-ray tomography (micro-CT) reconstruction of the composite reinforcement geometry. In all the cases, the analysis relies on structure tensor-based algorithms for quantification of the micro-CT image, implemented in VoxTex software

ESR SPECTRA STUDY OF ANODIZED ALUMINA NANOPOROUS STRUCTURES

Different nanoporous structures of aluminum oxide were synthesized by anodic oxidation using electrolytes based on sulfuric, oxalic, phosphoric or hydrofluoric acids under potentiostatic mode. Photoluminescence and electron spin resonance spectra were studied at room temperature for grown samples. Values of g-factor – 2.015±0.012 – were calculated using measured signals quantitative analysis. Origin of optically active centers responsible for observed blue emission in anodized alumina was discussed taking obtained results into consideration

Cut Points and Diffusions in Random Environment

In this article we investigate the asymptotic behavior of a new class of multi-dimensional diffusions in random environment. We introduce cut times in the spirit of the work done by Bolthausen, Sznitman and Zeitouni, see [4], in the discrete setting providing a decoupling effect in the process. This allows us to take advantage of an ergodic structure to derive a strong law of large numbers with possibly vanishing limiting velocity and a central limit theorem under the quenched measure.Comment: 44 pages; accepted for publication in "Journal of Theoretical Probability

EFFECT OF ANNEALING ON NANOPOROUS ALUMINUM OXIDE LUMINESCENT PROPERTIES

Anodic aluminum oxide membranes have been obtained in galvanostatic mode using oxalic acid. XRD study of as-grown specimens and ones annealed at 500-1250 °C has been made. Intensive intrinsic photoluminescence (PL) attributed to F and/or F+-centers in AI2O3 has been observed for structures treated up to 900 °C. PL caused by Cr3+ and Mn4+ impurities has dominated after annealing at 1100-1250 °C

Aortic malformations often cause critical states in the neonatal period. MSCT method allows you to get a detailed understanding of the anatomy of vice and identify concomitant bronchopulmonary disease. This paper presents a comparative analysis of 27 patients of the first year of life with the pathology of the aortic arch, which were performed echocardiography and MSCT. After analysis of both research methods in 4 patients revealed a discrepancy echocardiography and MSCT data which led to a change in surgical approach. Just according to SITC 2 patients revealed tracheal stenosis, in one case, isolated, in another due to compression of the vascular ring. MSCT is a highly informative method for diagnosing pathology of the aortic arch and associated bronchopulmonary disease in children in the first year of life.

    Observation of the Decay Λ0b→Λ+cτ−¯ν

The first observation of the semileptonic b-baryon decay Λb0→Λc+τ-ν¯τ, with a significance of 6.1σ, is reported using a data sample corresponding to 3 fb-1 of integrated luminosity, collected by the LHCb experiment at center-of-mass energies of 7 and 8 TeV at the LHC. The τ- lepton is reconstructed in the hadronic decay to three charged pions. The ratio K=B(Λb0→Λc+τ-ν¯τ)/B(Λb0→Λc+π-π+π-) is measured to be 2.46±0.27±0.40, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second systematic. The branching fraction B(Λb0→Λc+τ-ν¯τ)=(1.50±0.16±0.25±0.23)% is obtained, where the third uncertainty is from the external branching fraction of the normalization channel Λb0→Λc+π-π+π-. The ratio of semileptonic branching fractions R(Λc+)B(Λb0→Λc+τ-ν¯τ)/B(Λb0→Λc+μ-ν¯μ) is derived to be 0.242±0.026±0.040±0.059, where the external branching fraction uncertainty from the channel Λb0→Λc+μ-ν¯μ contributes to the last term. This result is in agreement with the standard model prediction
