Degree of the divisor of solutions of a differential equation on a projective variety
Using the data schemes developed by Arrondo-Sols-Speiser, we give a rigorous
definition of algebraic differential equations on the complex projective space
. For an algebraic subvariety , we present an explicit
formula for the degree of the divisor of solutions of a differential equation
on and give some examples of applications. We extend the technique and
result to the real case.Comment: 16 pages, Latex2e, uses diagrams packag
Transitions into permanent employment in Spain : an empirical analysis for young workers
We analyze the Spanish temporary workers’ transitions into permanent employment and
to what extent those who become unemployed are able to achieve a permanent job. Our
focus is placed on the role of the individual’s sequence of temporary contracts on the
probability of moving from temporary into permanent employment. We apply multiplespell
duration techniques to a longitudinal dataset of temporary workers obtained from
Social Security records for the period 1996-2003. We basically find that even though
transitions into permanent employment increase with tenure, temporary jobs do not
constitute stepping stones towards permanent employment, since the probability of
obtaining a permanent job decreases with repeated temporary jobs. Results also show
that individuals with high duration of unemployment flow into permanent work less
frequently

Android Malware Characterization using Metadata and Machine Learning Techniques
Android Malware has emerged as a consequence of the increasing popularity of
smartphones and tablets. While most previous work focuses on inherent
characteristics of Android apps to detect malware, this study analyses indirect
features and meta-data to identify patterns in malware applications. Our
experiments show that: (1) the permissions used by an application offer only
moderate performance results; (2) other features publicly available at Android
Markets are more relevant in detecting malware, such as the application
developer and certificate issuer, and (3) compact and efficient classifiers can
be constructed for the early detection of malware applications prior to code
inspection or sandboxing.Comment: 4 figures, 2 tables and 8 page
