An Investigation on the Nexus Between Leadership Style and Job Satisfaction of Library Staff in Private University Libraries South-West, Nigeria.
Human capital is a key success factor in any organisation. Dissatisfied and unhappy staff may not perform maximally, and this could affect an organisation’s products and services. This study examined the extent to which leadership style, correlated with job satisfaction intention
in private university libraries South-West, Nigeria.Survey research design was adopted. The population consisted of all the 361 library staff. Findings revealed that the level of job satisfaction of library staff was low, and that the most practice leadership style is autocratic. It also revealed a significant relationship between leadership style and job satisfaction(r = 0.028, p < 0.05); The study concluded that leadership style contributed significantly to the low level of job satisfaction. It is recommended that library management should be more democratic, payment of allowances should be put in place. This would increase the job

Internet Usages and its Challenges by Lecturers in Edo State: Case Study of Ambrose Alli University Ekpoma and Benson Idahosa University Benin City
his study investigated the use of the internet by lecturers in Ambrose Alli and
Benson Idahosa Universities. A Survey research design was adopted in conducting
this research. Questionnaire was the instrument employed for data collection.
The study population comprised lecturers in the two institutions. A total of 180
questionnaires were sent out, which 167 were returned and used for the study. The data
obtained were analyzed using descriptive statistic. The. finding revealed that internet is
predominantly used by lecturers for research, current awareness, conferences, seminars,
self development and entertainment purposes. The constraints to the use of the internet
were highlighted such as erratic power supply, high cost of foreign exchange for internet
information material etc. Based on these, recommendations and suggestions were mad
Motivational factors that affect Library Staff performance in Benson Idahosa University, Benin City, Edo State, Nigeria.
This paper discussed motivational factors that affect library staff performance
in Benson Idahosa University. Survey research design was adopted for the study.
Structured questionnaire was designed and administered to Library Staff of
Benson Idahosa University, Benin City in Edo State, Nigeria. Twenty- two copies
of the questionnaire administered were all returned and found useful for analysis.
The findings revealed that inner satisfaction on the job, careful placement on
the job, payment of allowance and over time work compensation of staff and
timely promotion are all the factors that motivate library staff to perform better
and improve their productivity. Frequency count and simple percentage methods
were used in analyzing the data. It was recommended among others that the
organization should ensure that staff welfare is taken care of. Staff should be
encouraged for in-service training. In addition, management should adopt
participative style of management whereby the staff are involved in decision
making process

Distance Learning in Nigeria and The Role of The Virtual Library
This paper discusses distance learning in Nigeria and the role of the virtual
library. Literatures were reviewed from similar studies. The history of distance
learning and the impact of technology on higher education were discussed. The
paper also looked at the role of libraries in providing a variety of services,
resources and technology needed to support this steadily growing facet of the
academic institution. It also examined the virtual library as a critical element in
distance learning education. The advantages and problems of distance learning
programmes and the place of virtual library in solving these problems were a/so

ACADEMIC LIBRARIANS' GAINS AND PAINS OF PUBLISHING: A CASE STUDY OF TWO UNIVERSITY LIBRARIES IN OGUN STATE., NIGERIA
This study investigated academic Librarians' gains and pains of publishing: a
case study of two private Universities in Ogun State Nigeria. Literatures were
reviewed from related studies, survey research method was used. Questionnaire
was designed and administered to all the academic librarians in the two
Universities under study. A total of 27 academic librarians are in the two
Universities and were given a copy of the questionnaire, and 24 copies were
returned and found usable. The data was analyzed using statistical package for
social science (SPSS). The findings revealed that the librarians in the two
Universities are publishing, it was also discovered that there are gains of
publishing which includes, earning promotion, peer recognition, departmental
recognition, adding value to the profession. It was also found out that there are
pains of publishing by academic librarians such as financial pains, too much
demand by daily work in the library, lack of academic freedom, and family
commitments. This study also revealed that the gains of publishing slightly
outweigh the pains. Based on these findings, conclusions were drawn.

Students satisfaction with academic library resources and services: the covenant university library experience
This study investigated students satisfaction with academic library resources and services. the objectives of the study was to find out whether the students are satisfied with the library resources and services or not. 500 copies of a designed questionnaire was administered to the students that used the library during the period of the study, out of which 473 was returned and used for analysis, this represented 94.6% response rate. The finding revealed that the students uses the library very often, they are satisfied with the library resources and services. It is recommended that Covenant University Library should keep on maintaining the high level of library resources and services as it leads to students (users) satisfaction, there is need for the library to improve on its resources and services to users as a world class University.
