Weak Isospin Violations in Charged and Neutral Higgs Couplings from SUSY Loop Corrections
Supersymmetric QCD and supersymmetric electroweak loop corrections to the
violations of weak isospin to Yukawa couplings are investigated. Specifically
it involves an analysis of the supersymmetric loop corrections to the Higgs
couplings to the third generation quarks and leptons. Here we analyze the SUSY
loop corrections to the charged Higgs couplings which are then compared with
the supersymmetric loop corrections to the neutral Higgs couplings previously
computed. It is found that the weak isospin violations can be quite
significant, i.e, as much as 40-50% or more of the total loop correction to the
Yukawa coupling. The effects of CP phases are also studied and it is found that
these effects can either enhance or suppress the weak isospin violations. We
also investigate the weak isospin violation effects on the branching ratio
and show that the effects
are sensitive to CP phases. Thus an accurate measurement of this branching
ratio along with the branching ratio of the neutral Higgs boson decays can
provide a measure of weak isospin violation along with providing a clue to the
presence of supersymmetry.Comment: 20 pages, 9 figure
One-loop contributions of charginos and neutralinos to W-pair production in E+ E- collisions
We study the one-loop effects of charginos and neutralinos on the helicity
amplitudes for \eeww in the minimal supersymmetric standard model. The
calculation is tested by using two methods. First, the sum rule for the form
factors between \eeww and the process where the external bosons are
replaced by the corresponding Goldstone bosons is employed to test
the analytic expression and the accuracy of the numerical program. Second, the
decoupling property in the large mass limit is used to test the overall
normalization of the amplitudes. These two tests are most effectively carried
out when the amplitudes are expanded in terms of the modified minimal
subtraction () couplings of the standard model. The resulting
perturbation expansion is valid at collider energies below and around the
threshold of the light supersymmetric particles. We find that the corrections
to the cross section of the longitudinally polarized -pair production can be
as large as -1.4% at the threshold of the light chargino-pair production for
large scattering angles. We also study the effects of the CP-violating phase in
the chargino and neutralino sectors on the helicity amplitudes. We find that
the resulting CP-violating asymmetries can be at most 0.1%.Comment: 30 pages, 25 figures, Final verision, To appear in Physical Review D,

On the EDM Cancellations in D-brane models
We analyze the possibility of simultaneous electron, neutron, and mercury
electric dipole moment (EDM) cancellations in the mSUGRA and D--brane models.
We find that the mercury EDM constraint practically rules out the cancellation
scenario in D-brane models whereas in the context of mSUGRA it is still allowed
with some fine-tuning.Comment: 10 pages, to appear in Phys. Rev. Let
CP-odd Phase Correlations and Electric Dipole Moments
We revisit the constraints imposed by electric dipole moments (EDMs) of
nucleons and heavy atoms on new CP-violating sources within supersymmetric
theories. We point out that certain two-loop renormalization group corrections
induce significant mixing between the basis-invariant CP-odd phases. In the
framework of the constrained minimal supersymmetric standard model (CMSSM), the
CP-odd invariant related to the soft trilinear A-phase at the GUT scale,
theta_A, induces non-trivial and distinct CP-odd phases for the three gaugino
masses at the weak scale. The latter give one-loop contributions to EDMs
enhanced by tan beta, and can provide the dominant contribution to the electron
EDM induced by theta_A. We perform a detailed analysis of the EDM constraints
within the CMSSM, exhibiting the reach, in terms of sparticle spectra, which
may be obtained assuming generic phases, as well as the limits on the CP-odd
phases for some specific parameter points where detailed phenomenological
studies are available. We also illustrate how this reach will expand with
results from the next generation of experiments which are currently in
development.Comment: 31 pages, 21 eps figures; v2: additional remarks on 2-loop threshold

s-Channel Production of MSSM Higgs Bosons at a Muon Collider with Explicit CP Violation
A muon collider with controllable energy resolution and transverse beam
polarization provides a powerful probe of the Higgs sector in the minimal
supersymmetric standard model with explicit CP violation, through s-channel
production of Higgs bosons. The production rates and the CP-even and CP-odd
transverse-polarization asymmetries are complementary in diagnosing CP
violation in the Higgs sector.Comment: 12 pages, 5 figures. Some statements for clarity and references

Delayed surgical debridement in pediatric open fractures: a systematic review and meta-analysis.
Purpose: Open fractures are considered orthopedic emergencies that are traditionally treated with surgical debridement within 6 h of injury to prevent infection. However, this proclaimed “6-h rule” is arbitrary and not based on rigorous scientific evidence. The aim of our study was to systematically review the literature that compares late (>6 h from the time of injury) to early (<6 h from the time of injury) surgical debridement of pediatric open fractures.
Methods: We searched several databases from 1946 to 2013 for any observational or experimental studies that evaluated late and early surgical debridement of pediatric open fractures. We performed a meta-analysis using a random effects model to pool odds ratios for a comparison of infection rates between children undergoing late versus early surgical debridement. We also investigated the infection rates in upper- and lower-limb pediatric open fractures. Descriptive, quantitative, and qualitative data were extracted.
Results: Of the 12 articles identified, three studies (retrospective cohort studies) were eligible for the meta-analysis, encompassing a total of 714 open fractures. The pooled odds ratio (OR = 0.79) for infection between late and early surgical debridement was in favor of late surgical debridement but was not statistically significant (95 % CI 0.32, 1.99; p = 0.38, I 2 = 0 %). No significant difference in infection rate was detected between pediatric open fractures in the upper and lower limbs according to the time threshold in the included studies (OR = 0.72, 95 % CI 0.29, 1.82; p = 0.40, I 2 = 0 %).
Conclusions: The cumulative evidence does not, at present, indicate an association between late surgical debridement and higher infection rates in pediatric open fractures. However, initial expedient surgical debridement of open fractures in children should always remain the rule. Thus, multi-center randomized controlled trials or prospective cohort studies will be able to answer this question with more certainty and a higher level of evidence
Probing MSSM Higgs Sector with Explicit CP Violation at a Photon Linear Collider
The CP properties of Higgs bosons can be probed through their s-channel
resonance productions via photon-photon collisions by use of circularly and/or
linearly polarized backscattered laser photons at a TeV-scale linear e^+ e^-
collider. Exploiting this powerful tool, we investigate in detail the Higgs
sector of the minimal supersymmetric Standard Model with explicit CP violation.Comment: 18 pages, 5 figures. Some comments added and typos corrected. To

One-loop Neutron Electric Dipole Moment from Supersymmetry without R-parity
We present a detailed analysis together with exact numerical calculations on
one-loop contributions to neutron electric dipole moment from supersymmetry
without R-parity, focusing on the gluino, chargino, and neutralino
contributions. Apart from the neglected family mixing among quarks, complete
formulae are given for the various contributions, through the quark dipole
operators, to which the present study is restricted. We discuss the structure
and main features of the R-parity violating contributions and the interplay
between the R-parity conserving and violating parameters. In particular, the
parameter combination , under the optimal
parametrization adopted, is shown to be solely responsible for the R-parity
violating contributions in the supersymmetric loop diagrams. While
could bear a complex phase, the latter is not
necessary to have a R-parity violating contribution.Comment: 43 pages Revtex with 15 eps- and 4 ps- figure files incoporated;

The Role of Technology Acceptance Model in Explaining University Academics’ Acceptance and Behavioural Intention to Use Technology in Education
As the use of modern technology in education continues to grow at all levels of education, and academics are believe to be among the major actors in educational transformation, there is an increasing need to better understand the acceptance and behavioural intention of University academics to use technology in education because few studies were conducted to that effect. Hence, the purpose of this research was to find the level of technology acceptance among university academics using TAM as theoretical model. A survey was used using a sample of 355 academics from Nigerian universities. Regression analysis and Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) were used for the data analyses and model fit using SPSS and AMOS softwares. The result proved TAM to be a good theoretical tool to understand users’ acceptance of technology. The findings revealed that the variances in Self Efficacy (SE), Social Influence (SI), System Accessibility (SA), Perceived Usefulness (PU) and Perceived Ease of Use (PEOU) really contribute to change in Behavioural Intention (BI) to use technology. However, the study also revealed that there are significant relationships between BI and SE, SA, and PU, but insignificant relationship was found between BI and the other two constructs i.e PEOU and SI. Since technology is not easy to use, and there is less social influence to help them use the system adequately, therefore, perhaps there is need for management to organize more trainings, seminars and workshops with regards to the use of the technology for the academics.
