Hybrid Plasmonic Waveguide Fed Broadband Nano-antenna for Nanophotonic Applications
In this paper, we propose a novel hybrid plasmonic waveguide fed broadband
optical patch nano-antenna for nanophotonic applications. Through full wave
electromagnetic simulation, we demonstrated our proposed antenna to radiate and
receive signal at all optical communication windows (e.g. = 850nm,
1310nm & 1550nm) with around 86% bandwidth within the operational domain.
Moreover numerical results demonstrate that the proposed nano-antenna has
directional radiation pattern with satisfactory gain over all three
communication bands. Additionally, we evaluated the antenna performances with
two different array arrangements (e.g. one dimensional and square array). The
proposed broadband antenna can be used for prominent nanophotonic applications
such as optical wireless communication in inter and intra-chip devices, optical
sensing and optical energy harvesting etc.Comment: 4 Page, 7 figure
Online Businesses Tax Morale in Supply Chain Relationships
The number of e-commerce (online) businesses is increasing in Malaysia, providing opportunities for digital business platforms to generate billions of ringgit in revenue. However, the businesses do not pay tax due to the absence of an efficient tax structure for this kind of supply chain management. The government will be looking at ways to tax individuals engaged in e-commerce (online) businesses to address its lost opportunity for revenue from a fast-growing segment of the economy. In addition, clearer guidelines are needed when there is a mixed supply chain operating within a holding company structure when it involves online business transactions. To combat such tax non-compliance by online businesses, it is essential to understand the levels of tax morale of these online businesses. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to unveil the level of tax morale of online businesses and to generate a tax morale framework for online businesses. Using a qualitative research methodology, the result of this study found four major levels of tax morale that are ‘input’, ‘process’, ‘output’ and ‘outcome’. The ‘input’ level consists of tax knowledge, tax obligations and self-awareness. The ‘process’ level consists of the necessity to follow the business law and tax law, as well as the tax enforcement implemented by the tax authority. The ‘output’ level consists of the online business owners’ trust towards the tax authority and government. Efficient correlation among the ‘input’, ‘process’ and ‘output’ levels of their tax morale will provide an effective ‘outcome’ in terms of voluntary tax payment to the tax authority that will bring benefit to the community in general. Based on the results obtained regarding the levels of tax morale of the online businesses, this research has developed the tax morale framework for online businesses
Harmonization Patterns and Positivism of Fatwa Into Indonesian National Law: Study On The Renewal Fatwa of Mui In Islamic Law
The concept of Indonesian independence is a country of laws but not a religious state nor a secular state. Certainty that Indonesia is a country of law is based on the results of the 1945 changes, Article 1 Paragraph (3) Amendment to the 1945 Constitution confirms that Indonesia is a country of law. In another aspect, Indonesia declared as a religious nation state (religious nation-state). In national and state norms be used as guidelines of religion under Article 29 paragraph (1) "State based upon the belief in God Almighty." This article by Hazarin mean that laws established by the state must not conflict with the teachings contained the recognized religions in Indonesia. Ideally, MUI fatwa presence as unifier, lightening and harmonizes with national laws, for the interests of MUI fatwa is demanded to reform the contents of fatwa by considering indonesian and modernity. At another level of national law also demanded to be responsive of the living law of life in Indonesian society. Key Words : Harmonization, Indonesian National Law, Islamic La

This study analyzed the determinants of technological innovation in the Malaysian manufacturing industry. Its main purpose is to identify a set of management- related variables characterizing Malaysian innovative firms. Moreover, the study aimed to test whether the set of determinant differs for firms with different technological trajectories. A sample of 204 Malaysian firms was used for the investigation, with one respondent from each firm. The questionnaire measured the technological innovation, as well as 5 main potential determinants of innovation adopted from literature. Statistical analysis used, including bivariate correlation and multivariate regression, in identifying association between the technological innovation and the determining variables. The results of the analysis lead the researcher to the model of 5 important determining factors of technological innovation. The important factors were intensity of R&D, trvhnoogical trajectories, intensity of marketing, engineers, scientist and managers with experience locally and technical competency of personnel,. The analysis of technological trajectories confirmed the hypotheses that set of important determinants of innovation as well as the extent of technological innovation differs for firms in different innovation processes
Predicting Temperature of Major Cities Using Machine Learning and Deep Learning
Currently, the issue that concerns the world leaders most is climate change
for its effect on agriculture, environment and economies of daily life. So, to
combat this, temperature prediction with strong accuracy is vital. So far, the
most effective widely used measure for such forecasting is Numerical weather
prediction (NWP) which is a mathematical model that needs broad data from
different applications to make predictions. This expensive, time and labor
consuming work can be minimized through making such predictions using Machine
learning algorithms. Using the database made by University of Dayton which
consists the change of temperature in major cities we used the Time Series
Analysis method where we use LSTM for the purpose of turning existing data into
a tool for future prediction. LSTM takes the long-term data as well as any
short-term exceptions or anomalies that may have occurred and calculates trend,
seasonality and the stationarity of a data. By using models such as ARIMA,
SARIMA, Prophet with the concept of RNN and LSTM we can, filter out any
abnormalities, preprocess the data compare it with previous trends and make a
prediction of future trends. Also, seasonality and stationarity help us analyze
the reoccurrence or repeat over one year variable and removes the constrain of
time in which the data was dependent so see the general changes that are
predicted. By doing so we managed to make prediction of the temperature of
different cities during any time in future based on available data and built a
method of accurate prediction. This document contains our methodology for being
able to make such predictions.Comment: 15 pages, 31 figure
Interactive effects of soil salinity and water table depth on soil properties and sorghum (Sorghum bicolor L. Moench) production
Soil salinity and water table are the most prevalent and widespread problems limiting crop productivity in irrigated agriculture. Our experiment aims to evaluate the effect of soil salinity and water table on some soil properties, growth, and yield of sorghum (variety Giza 15) grown along two successive seasons. Nine different sites were chosen, representing three levels of soil salinity (i.e. ECe < 4, 4-8 and 8-16 dS m-1). For each salinity level three water table were selected (i.e. shallow ≈ 55 cm, medium ≈ 80 cm and deep ≈ 120 cm). Results revealed that there are main considerable effects of salinity and water table on some soil properties. Increasing of salinity caused significant decreases in plant growth, weight of 1000 grains (g), protein content% and seed yield (t/ha) which decreased by 36.98%, 32.27%, 20.45%, 29.95 % and 57.46% respectively, when salinity increased from S1 to S3. On the other hand, decreasing of water table lead to improvement in all mentioned soil properties and plant growth. The results indicated that need to maintain low or moderate salinity and deep water table, which is essential for producing high sorghum grain yield with satisfactory quality
Electro-generated Chemiluminescent Determination of Methotrexate in Pharmaceutical Preparations by Tris (2,2-bipyridine)ruthenium(II) Using Flow Injection
A novel electro-generated chemiluminescence method for the determination of methotrexate (2,4-diamino-N10-methyl pteroyl glutamic acid) in pharmaceutical formulations is proposed. The method was based on the chemiluminescence (CL) emission intensity produced as a result of the electrochemical oxidation of the nbspinto the active nbspform, which then reacts with the methotrexate and produces light.nbspReaction variables were thoroughly investigated. The optimum conditions were incorporated in the procedure. Linear calibration curve were obtained for signal in mV versus concentration in mol L1 in the range 0-21times107 M with percentage relative standard deviation of less than 2% (n = 6) and correlation coefficient of r = 0.99986. The method described here proved to be very convenient and easy to use for the assay of methotrexate in drug formulations. This method was tested by the determination of methotrexate in different drugs containing known concentration

Blocking Type I Interferon Signaling Rescues Lymphocytes from Oxidative Stress, Exhaustion, and Apoptosis in a Streptozotocin-Induced Mouse Model of Type I Diabetes
Elevated levels of type I interferon (IFN) during type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1D) are associated with a defective immune response. In the present study, we investigated whether blocking type I IFN signaling during streptozotocin- (STZ-) induced T1D in mice improves lymphocyte proliferation and escape from continuous apoptosis. Three groups of mice were examined: diabetic mice, type I IFN signaling-incompetent diabetic mice, and control nondiabetic mice. We first found that diabetes induction was accompanied by an elevation in the plasma levels of reactive oxygen species (ROS), hydroperoxide, malondialdehyde (MDN), and the proinflammatory cytokines IL-1α, IL-1β, IL-6, and CXCL10. Blocking type 1 IFN signaling in diabetic mice significantly decreased the levels of oxidative stress and proinflammatory cytokines. In addition, lymphocytes from diabetic mice exhibited a marked reduction in their proliferative capacity, increased apoptosis, upregulation of the exhaustion marker PD-1, and aberrant phosphorylation of STAT1, STAT2, AKT and IκB-α. Interestingly, following the blocking of type I IFN signaling in diabetic mice, the lymphocytes exhibited restored proliferative capacity, decreased apoptosis, normal expression of PD-1, and normal phosphorylation of STAT1, STAT2, AKT and IκB-α. Our data suggest that elevated levels of type I IFN during T1D trigger lymphocyte exhaustion and a defective lymphocyte-medicated immune response
