Joint Channel-and-Network Coding Using EXIT Chart Aided Relay Activation

This paper presents a relay activation scheme designed for joint channel-and-network (JCN) coded systems relying on an iterative decoding. A primary focus is on proposing criteria of the relay activation to find the best user combination for cooperative relaying, which exploits extrinsic information transfer (EXIT) chart analysis. Estimation of genetic parameters for beef marbling score and marbling on top round of Japanese Black

Japanese Black cattle are the predominant beef breed in Japan. This breed has excellent meat quality, especially degree of (intramuscular) marbling. Degree of marbling was measured at the 6th to 7th rib section and according to the Beef Marbling Standard with scores 1 to 12 (so-called BMS), with number 12 being the best. BMS is used with business deal of beef carcass and has strongly effect on selling price of carcass. On the other hands, more degree of marbling on top round (MTR) is better carcass unit price in same BMS, because of good price of part of thigh. MTR has been focused in recent years. However, MTR is unclear how to evaluate, therefore, collection of records and genetic evaluations are not enough. In this study, records of MTR were collected and then, genetic parameters for BMS and MTR of Japanese Black were estimated. The original data were 11,052 carcass records collected from April in 2008 to June in 2009 at the Agura Farm. Only information from abattoirs having more than 20 records and feedlot farms having more than 10 records were used. This resulted in a total of 10,990 records. In this study, pedigree information was traced back to two generations. An animal model that included all relationships among all animals was used as a statistical model. The fixed effects included sex, farm, abattoir and the combination of slaughter year and month. Slaughter age was fitted as linear covariables. Genetic parameters were estimated using REMLF90 and THRGIBBS1F90 programs. The estimates of heritability were moderately high (0.37 to 0.44) for MTR treated as threshold traits. The estimates of phenotypic and genetic correlations between BMS and MTR were very high (0.87 and 0.98, respectively). An economic analysis of capital flight from Nigeria

Unlike Latin America, there have been no detailed estimates of capital flight or its determinants in Africa. The author addresses this problem and, using several concepts, provides"bands"or a"range"for capital flight in Nigeria. A significant proportion of capital flight can be estimated from recorded data in the balance of payments and debt statistics - but these estimates are only as good as the data are reliable. Significant amounts of capital flight, relative to external debt, took place between 1970 and 1989. Trade-faking was an important vehicle: exports were under-invoiced to the tune of about US $8.1 billion and imports were over invoiced about US$6.0 billion. Econometric analysis shows that the culprit to be domestic macroeconomic policy - in the form of inflation, exchange rate misalignment, fiscal deficit, and the lack of opportunities for profitable domestic investments - combined with the relative attractiveness of foreign investments. Eliminating distortions in the economy could minimize substantially externally held foreign claims and minimize capital flight. Among things that need to be done: (a) ensure that the nation's currency is not overvalued; (b) establish an integrated, unified tariff structure to reduce the rewards for trade-faking; (c) establish fiscal discipline, to maintain macroeconomic stability and reduce inflation; (d) ensure a positive real rate of interest - high enough to attract funds but not so high as to stifle investment initiatives; (e) adopt a realistic exchange rate determined by market forces; and (f) foster attitudinal changes that contribute positively to honest government.Economic Theory&Research,Banks&Banking Reform,Settlement of Investment Disputes,International Terrorism&Counterterrorism,Financial Economics

Vocabulari anatòmic de la tonyina: una proposta valenciana

La tonyina, Thunnus thynnus, és un dels éssers marins més rellevants de l'alimentació i cultura catalanes. Però malgrat la importància d'aquest ésser marí en l'esdevenir comercial, gastronòmic i vital de la Mediterrània, el seu lèxic ha sigut estudiat de manera imprecisa, parcial i dispersa tant en català com en altres llengües. Així doncs, l'objectiu principal del nostre treball serà fer una proposta de terminologia tonyinera que ompli el buit lèxic existent a través de definicions anatòmiques i gastronòmiques tan precises com sigui possible. De fet, en aquest vocabulari presentem cinquanta-tres termes de la morfologia del túnid dels quals quinze vénen definits en els nostres diccionaris en relació a la tonyina, vint-i-set apareixen de manera indirecta, i són onze els termes fonamentals de l'anatomia del peix i gastronòmica que no apareixen en les nostres obres lexicogràfiques principals.The tunny fish, Thunnus thynnus, is one of the most important sea species in Catalan culture and the Catalan food industry. However, despite its vital, commercial and gastronomic importance in the future of the Mediterranean, the lexis relating to it has been studied in an imprecise, piecemeal, sporadic fashion both in Catalan and other languages. Therefore, the principal aim of this article is to propose terminology to fill this gap with maximally accurate anatomical and gastronomic definitions. In this vocabulary, we present fifty-three terms that describe the morphology of the species, fifteen of which are already defined in our dictionaries, twenty-seven indirectly, and finally there are eleven basic vocabulary items referring to the anatomy of the fish and its gastronomic use that are absent from these reference works

Women's Ulama Movement in Building Moderation of Islam Indonesia

  Pergerakan ulama perempuan di Indonesia dalam lintasan sejarahnya menunjukkan dinamika dan karakteristik yang dipengaruhi oleh kondisi sosial dan politik. Tulisan ini mendeskripsikan implementasi dan kontribusi Kongres Ulama Perempuan Indonesia (KUPI) yang diselenggarakan pada tanggal 25-27 April 2017 di Pondok Pesantren Kebon Jambu Babakan Ciwaringin Cirebon terhadap moderasi Islam dalam perspektif keadilan gender di Indonesia. Paper ini menjelaskan, pertama, KUPI memiliki agenda untuk memperkuat landasan keilmuan Islam dan ummat Islam dalam mengembangkan pemberdayaannya untuk mewujudkan kehidupan berkeluarga, bermasyarakat, berbangsa, dan bernegara yang sejahtera dan damai. Kedua, postulat pemikiran moderasi Islam dari perspektif gender di Indonesia. Ketiga, kontribusi teoritis-konseptual berupa lahirnya dan penguatan sudut pandang da'i yang digunakan untuk membaca makna teks-teks Islam. Selain itu, bantuan praktis penting lainnya adalah KUPI dapat mengantarkan pendirian  lembaga pendidikan Islam, Ma'had Aly Kebon Jambu sebagai pusat studi yang memperhatikan Islam dan perempuan. [The movement of female Ulama in Indonesia in its historical trajectory shows the dynamics and characteristics influenced by social and political conditions. The study describes the implementation and contribution of the Indonesian Women's Ulama Congress (KUPI) held on 25-27 April 2017 at Kebon Jambu Islamic Boarding School in Babakan Ciwaringin Cirebon against Islamic moderation in the perspective of gender justice in Indonesia. The paper talks the capability of  KUPI with the plan to strengthen the scientific basis of Islam and the Muslim women's community in developing its empowerment to realize family life, community, nation, and prosperous and peaceful state. Second, postulates of Islamic moderation thinking from a gender perspective in Indonesia. Third, the theoretical-conceptual contribution in the form of the birth and strengthening of the standpoint of preachers used to read the meaning of Islamic texts. Besides, another essential practical assistance is that KUPI can deliver the advent of Islamic educational institutions, Ma'had Aly Kebon Jambu as a center of study that pays attention to Islam and women.

Farmers’ Intention to Pay Zakat (Determinants of Agricultural Zakat in the Special Region of Yogyakarta)

DI Yogyakarta is one of the provinces with an agricultural sector that contributes to the GRDP of the province. This is certainly in line with the potential for agricultural zakat, which is quite large. However, on the other hand, DI Yogyakarta is one of the provinces with problems related to poverty and the Gini ratio index, which is quite unequal. One of the reasons this problem later arose was that the potential for zakat was not fully realized. This study aims to determine the effect of religiosity, knowledge, income, environment, and belief on farmers’ intention to pay agricultural zakat. This research is quantitative research with a survey technique. This study sample was Muslim farmers living in the Special Region of Yogyakarta. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling with a total sample of 60 samples. The data analysis technique used is Structural Equation Modeling and Partial Least Square (SEM-PLS) with analysis tools using Smart-PLS 3.0. The results of this study indicate that religiosity, income, and environment significantly positively affect farmers’ intention to pay agricultural zakat. At the same time, knowledge and trust do not affect farmers’ intention to pay agricultural zakat
