Generally, the narrations of Uno Kouji’s novels are called“complicated narrations”or regarded as“disordered narrations”, In this article I deal with this problem;what makes it disordered paying my attention to the point of view of the narration. The present of the story and the present when the narrator speaks are sometimes different each other and sometinles seem to be the same in this novel;“YUME-MIRU HEYA”, This makes the matter complicated. Then, a unique property of narration of“YUME-MIRU HEYA”is that using irony, emphasis and saying impossibi1・ ity to express his experiences so many times. The narrator is eager to show how strange his habit is, on the other hand he throw showing his experiences out. The narrator, who tells the readers to read this story as a confession of his secret life, thinks that the belongings such as picture frames, book shelf, books and so on are represent their owner’s personality. But his belongings are all imitations. So if his belongings represent himself, he is also an imitation. There’s no‘true life’or‘truth’ to confess. The last sentence;“I don’t know”is symbolic of this novel’s point. I think“YUME・MIRU HEYA”is the novel disguised as a confession, and it might has been a parody of‘WATAKUSHI SHOUSETSU’
Über den Erfolg der Laminektomie bei spinaler Kinderlähmung
In drei Fau65llen von spinaler Kinderlähmung, bei deneu hauptsächlich Lähmung der oberen Extremitäten vorlag und die physikalisch-therapeutischen Mittel absolut versagten, hat der Verfasser auf Halsanschwellung die Laminektomie ausgeführt. Nach Ablosung des Rückenmarks von der verwachsten Umgebung, (die mit der Rückenmark verwachst), konnte Verfasser auffallend gute Erfolge beobachten. Die Motilitätsstoruugen wurde im 1. Falle innerhalb 14 Tagen, im 2. Falle 20 Tagen und im 3. Falle 8 Tageu nach der genanutem Operation beseitigt. Verfasser weist auf die gauz besouders interessaute Resultate hiu, dass in dem 1. Falle, bei dem schon 9 Mouate nach dem ersteu Auftreteu der Lähmung veistrichen waren, gleich nach der Operation bedeutende Erleichterung aufgetreten ist
The Role of the Equine Herpesvirus Type 1 (EHV-1) US3-Encoded Protein Kinase in Actin Reorganization and Nuclear Egress
The serine-threonine protein kinase encoded by US3 gene (pUS3) of
alphaherpesviruses was shown to modulate actin reorganization, cell-to-cell
spread, and virus egress in a number of virus species. However, the role of
the US3 orthologues of equine herpesvirus type 1 and 4 (EHV-1 and EHV-4) has
not yet been studied. Here, we show that US3 is not essential for virus
replication in vitro. However, growth rates and plaque diameters of a
US3-deleted EHV-1 and a mutant in which the catalytic active site was
destroyed were significantly reduced when compared with parental and revertant
viruses or a virus in which EHV-1 US3 was replaced with the corresponding
EHV-4 gene. The reduced plaque sizes were consistent with accumulation of
primarily enveloped virions in the perinuclear space of the US3-negative
EHV-1, a phenotype that was also rescued by the EHV-4 orthologue. Furthermore,
actin stress fiber disassembly was significantly more pronounced in cells
infected with parental EHV-1, revertant, or the recombinant EHV-1 expressing
EHV-4 US3. Finally, we observed that deletion of US3 in EHV-1 did not affect
the expression of adhesion molecules on the surface of infected cells

Identification of B Cells as a Major Site for Cyprinid Herpesvirus 3 Latency
Cyprinid herpesvirus 3 (CyHV-3), commonly known as koi herpesvirus (KHV), is a member of the Alloherpesviridae, and is a recently discovered emerging herpesvirus that is highly pathogenic for koi and common carp. Our previous study demonstrated that CyHV-3 becomes latent in peripheral white blood cells (WBC). In this study, CyHV-3 latency was further investigated in IgM⁺ WBC. The presence of the CyHV-3 genome in IgM⁺ WBC was about 20-fold greater than in IgM⁻ WBC. To determine whether CyHV-3 expressed genes during latency, transcription from all eight open reading frames (ORFs) in the terminal repeat was investigated in IgM⁺ WBC from koi with latent CyHV-3 infection. Only a spliced ORF6 transcript was found to be abundantly expressed in IgM⁺ WBC from CyHV-3 latently infected koi. The spliced ORF6 transcript was also detected in vitro during productive infection as early as 1 day postinfection. The ORF6 transcript from in vitro infection begins at -127 bp upstream of the ATG codon and ends +188 bp downstream of the stop codon, +20 bp downstream of the polyadenylation signal. The hypothetical protein of ORF6 contains a consensus sequence with homology to a conserved domain of EBNA-3B and ICP4 from Epstein-Barr virus and herpes simplex virus 1, respectively, both members of the Herpesviridae. This is the first report of latent CyHV-3 in B cells and identification of gene transcription during latency for a member of the Alloherpesviridae.This is the publisher’s final pdf. Crystal structures of human ETB receptor provide mechanistic insight into receptor activation and partial activation
Patterns of cerebral glucose metabolism detected with positron emission tomography differ in multiple system atrophy and olivopontocerebellar atrophy
We used positron emission tomography with [ 18 F] fluorodeoxyglucose to study local cerebral metabolic rates for glucose (ICMRglc) in patients with multiple system atrophy (MSA), sporadic olivopontocerebellar atrophy (sOPCA), and dominantly inherited olivopontocerebellar atrophy (dOPCA) in comparison with normal control subjects. In MSA, absolute lCMRglc was significantly decreased in the brainstem, cerebellum, putamen, thalamus, and cerebral cortex. In sOPCA, absolute lCMRglc was significantly decreased in the brainstem, cerebellum, putamen, thalamus, and cerebral cortex. In dOPCA, absolute lCMRglc was significantly decreased in the brainstem and cerebellum but not in the other structures. Examination of lCMRglc normalized to the cerebral cortex in comparison with normal controls revealed in MSA significant decreases in the brainstem, cerebellum, and putamen but, in both sOPCA and dOPCA, significant decreases only in the brainstem and cerebellum. The findings indicate that these three disorders all show a marked decrease of lCMRglc in the brainstem and cerebellum but differ in the degree of hypometabolism in forebrain and cerebral cortical structures. The results are consistent with the possibility that, in many cases, sOPCA will evolve into MSA. Time-resolved serial femtosecond crystallography reveals early structural changes in channelrhodopsin

Light absorption causes retinal chromophore isomerization and subsequent protein conformational changes visualized as optically distinguished intermediates, coupled with channel opening and closing. However, the detailed molecular events underlying channel gating remain unknown. We performed time-resolved serial femtosecond crystallographic analyses of ChR by using an X-ray free electron laser, which revealed conformational changes following photoactivation. The isomerized retinal adopts a twisted conformation and shifts toward the putative internal proton donor residues, consequently inducing an outward shift of TM3, as well as a local deformation in TM7. These early conformational changes in the pore-forming helices should be the triggers that lead to opening of the ion conducting pore

The early works of Kazuo Hirotsu, which were published in 1918 and 1919,“Morozaki-yuki”(1918),“Yamori” (1919)and“Nami-no-ue”(1919)are generally regarded as materials for his private life or his personality. And they are also defined as a branch of the Naturalism in Japanese hterature. But the works are quite similar to those of the young novelists belonging to the Shirakaba group in point of its morality. These three novels of Hirotsu have an outline that a novelist who tainted a virgin woman by his lust seeks to overcome his destiny and circumstances by his power of will, and makes an effort to create good works. The novelist, who is the hero and narrator of these three works, insists that once a man has love affair with a woman, he is responsible for it and in this case‘responsibility’ mean・marryi・g h…H・・h・uld・・t q・it・carryi・g hi・marri・g・with hi・.ugly・nd・・arse wif・n・噸t・・h・w h・m・y suffer pain because he committed a sin, He thinks that to atone for this sin is to lead a quiet and happy life with his wife-Honesty’is the essential part of his morality. And he seems to be a really honest man. And besides, being an honest man is being an honest novelist because his anguish as a man and as a novelist are linked together with the word‘life’. The foremost goal of this treatise is to prove that this morality was not only the character of Hirotsu in the middle of Taisho period by using materials such as other novels of the Shirakaba group and reputations. Hirotsu’s these three novels have the same rule with one of the Shirakaba group’s novels which have a typical style of self-straining and overcoming obstacles. Such novels have a certain chart like this:ahero, who is an artist, makes an error or faces difficulties and overcomes those obstacles with help from his wife(or lover),and this experience m・k・・lt p・ssibl・f・・hiM t・be a m・n wh・b・・b・tt・・pers・n・1ity and p・i・・t・lif・th・n h・will be abl・t・c・eat・b・tte「 works. Better works need a better life, and a better life needs a better wife with adoration for her husband. Therefore the heroes expect their wives to support them in the hard times and to be go’od housekeepers in daily life. This is the inside of the romantic love ideology in the Shirakaba group, and of the morality of Hirotsu’s these three novels
