L’événementialité du phénomène selon « Neue Phänomenologie in Frankreich »

    Get PDF

Influence of Setting Condition on Characteristics of Savonius Hydraulic Turbine with a Shield Plate

The aim of this investigation was to improve power performance of Savonius hydraulic turbine utilizing small stream for electric generation. An attempt was made to increase the power coefficient of runner by the use of flat shield plate placed upstream of the runner. The difference of the power coefficient is discussed in relation to clearance between the runner and the bottom wall and the rotation direction of the runner. The flow field around the runner was also examined visually to clarify influences of setting conditions on the power performance. From this study it was found that the power coefficient is achieved for 0.47 by only using a flat shield plate, the increase is up to 80% over the runner without the plate. Moreover, it is the proper condition that clearance ratio is 0.73 in this study.ArticleJOURNAL OF THERMAL SCIENCE. 20(3):224-228 (2011)journal articl

Nonlinear Wave Growth Analysis of Whistler‐Mode Chorus Generation Regions Based on Coupled MHD and Advection Simulation of the Inner Magnetosphere

We show the regions where nonlinear growth of whistler-mode chorus waves is preferred to occur in the inner magnetosphere. A global magnetohydrodynamics (MHD) simulation was used to obtain large-scale electric and magnetic fields under the southward interplanetary magnetic field condition. With the electric and magnetic fields obtained by the MHD simulation, we ran a comprehensive inner magnetosphere-ionosphere model to solve the evolution of phase space density of electrons. Hot electrons originating from the tail region drift sunward and penetrate deep into the inner region due to a combination of convection and substorm-associated electric fields. Cold electrons also drift sunward, resulting in a contraction of the plasmasphere. We obtained the following results. (1) The whistler waves can first grow due to the linear mechanism (pitch angle anisotropy) in the premidnight-prenoon region outside the plasmapause, followed by rapid, nonlinear mechanism accompanied with rising-tone chorus elements. (2) When the solar wind speed is high, the whistler waves grow more efficiently due to linear and nonlinear mechanisms over a wider area because of deep penetration of hot electrons and the large contraction of the plasmasphere. This is consistent with the observation that the outer belt electrons increase for the fast solar wind. (3) For slow solar wind, the linear growth is mostly suppressed, but the nonlinear growth can still take place when external seed waves are present. This may explain the persistence of dawn chorus and large-amplitude chorus waves that are often observed in the premidnight-postdawn region in relatively weak geomagnetic activities

An intellectual genealogy graph: affording a fine prospect of organizational learning

Abstract: The word of "learning", in a wide sense, is used as a part of the social system of education and it has been attracting researchers' interest in our research area of educational systems. The goal of this research is to support creation and inheritance of organizational intellect, that is, "learning" in an organization. In this paper, we will propose an "Intellectual Genealogy Graph," which is a model representing chronological correlation among persons, activities, and intellect in an organization. The intellectual genealogy graph is a basis of intelligent functions which is useful for surveying current learning conditions and clarifying the intellectual role of individuals, organizations, and documents in the organization

A compact frequency-stabilized pump laser for wavelength conversion in long-distance quantum communication

We demonstrate a compact frequency-stabilized laser at 1064 nm using Doppler-free saturation absorption spectroscopy of molecular iodine. The achieved laser frequency stability and linewidth are 5.7 10-12 (corresponding to an uncertainty of the laser frequency of 1.6 kHz) and 400 kHz, respectively. The developed frequency-stabilized laser can be used as a pump laser for wavelength conversion from visible to telecom (or vice versa) to connect quantum memories utilizing nitrogen-vacancy centers in diamond at remote nodes in fiber-based quantum communication.Comment: 5 pages, 6 figures, JOSAB accepte
