Transition Probability to Turbulent Transport Regime
Transition phenomena between thermal noise state and turbulent state observed
in a submarginal turbulent plasma are analyzed with statistical theory.
Time-development of turbulent fluctuation is obtained by numerical simulations
of Langevin equation which contains hysteresis characteristics. Transition
rates between two states are analyzed. Transition from turbulent state to
thermal noise state occurs in entire region between subcritical bifurcation
point and linear stability boundary.Comment: 9 pages, 6 figures, to be published in Plasma Phys. Control. Fusio
Stochastic Transition between Turbulent Branch and Thermodynamic Branch of an Inhomogeneous Plasma
Transition phenomena between thermodynamic branch and turbulent branch in
submarginal turbulent plasma are analyzed with statistical theory.
Time-development of turbulent fluctuation is obtained by numerical simulations
of Langevin equation which contains submarginal characteristics. Probability
density functions and transition rates between two states are analyzed.
Transition from turbulent branch to thermodynamic branch occurs in almost
entire region between subcritical bifurcation point and linear stability
boundary.Comment: 10 pages, 8 figures, to be published in J. Phys. Soc. Jp
Comment on ``Local dimer-adatom stacking fault structures from 3x3 to 13x13 along Si(111)-7x7 domain boundaries''
Zhao et al. [Phys.Rev.B 58, 13824 (1998)] depicted several atomic structures
of domain boundaries on a Si(111) surface and criticized the article by the
present author and the co-workers. I will point out that their criticism is
incorrect and their structure models have no consistency.Comment: 2 pages. Physical Review B, to appea
Coherent Structure of Zonal Flow and Onset of Turbulent Transport
Excitation of the turbulence in the range of drift wave frequency and zonal flow in magnetized plasmas is analyzed. Nonlinear stabilization effect on zonal flow drive is introduced, and the steady state solution is obtained. The condition for the onset of turbulent transport is obtained and partition ratio of fluctuation energy into turbulence and zonal flows is derived. The turbulent transport coefficient, which includes the effect of zonal flow, is also obtained. Analytic result and direct numerical simulation show a good agreemen
Metal-insulator transition in Ca_{1-x}Li_xPd_3O_4
Metal-insulator transition in Ca_{1-x}Li_xPd_3O_4 has been studied through
charge transport measurements. The resistivity, the Seebeck coefficient, and
the Hall coefficient are consistently explained in terms of a simple one-band
picture, where a hole with a moderately enhanced mass is itinerant
three-dimensionally. Contrary to the theoretical prediction [Phys. Rev. B62,
13426 (2000)], CaPd_3O_4 is unlikely to be an excitonic insulator, and holds a
finite carrier concentration down to 4.2 K. Thus the metal-insulator transition
in this system is basically driven by localization effects.Comment: RevTeX4 format, 4 pages, 5 eps figure
