CONTEXT: Globally, about 8, 75,000 children die every year due to unintentional injury and more than 1000 children’s lives everyday could be saved by implementing proven interventions. Experts estimate that up to 90% of childhood injuries are considered both predictable and preventable. However, many among the general public believes that injuries are “accidents” or “acts of fate”. Changing people’s perceptions and beliefs about the nature of childhood injuries play a vital role in injury prevention. OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to estimate the incidence of injury and to assess the economic impact and medical consequences following an injury. The secondary objective was to assess the perception of mothers regarding risks and hazards of unintentional injuries. SETTING AND METHODOLOGY: A non-concurrent cohort study was conducted in 13 clusters of Kaniyambadi block of Vellore district in Tamil Nadu. 1600 Children were screened and a detailed questionnaire was administered to those who sustained injury to obtain information on the consequences and impact after an injury. Mothers with 1-5 years aged children were chosen by Simple Random Sampling for a Cross sectional survey and Perception was assessed by a validated tool. Focus group discussions were also conducted. RESULTS AND CONCLUSIONS: The injury related morbidity in the study was 292.5/1000/year amongchildren between 0-14 years. Boys (4.5%) had a higher rate of injury than girls. Age group between 10-14 years had a higher number of injuries (4.6%). The commonest place of injury was home (44.8%) and the most common anatomical site of injury was lower extremity (51.7%). Falls (43.1%) was the most common cause of injury followed by Road traffic injuries (27.6%). The direct medical and non medical cost of treatment after an injury was from approximately 10 INR to approximately 50,000 INR. Half of the children missed school after an injury. Mothers had poor perceptions injury from hazards like cribs, small toys and plastic bags. Literacy was found to be the significant predictor for perception of hazard and there were no significant predictors for perception of risk. This study recommends stringent laws for hazard free environment health education to primary caregivers of Children

Design of time delayed chaotic circuit with threshold controller

A novel time delayed chaotic oscillator exhibiting mono- and double scroll complex chaotic attractors is designed. This circuit consists of only a few operational amplifiers and diodes and employs a threshold controller for flexibility. It efficiently implements a piecewise linear function. The control of piecewise linear function facilitates controlling the shape of the attractors. This is demonstrated by constructing the phase portraits of the attractors through numerical simulations and hardware experiments. Based on these studies, we find that this circuit can produce multi-scroll chaotic attractors by just introducing more number of threshold values.Comment: 21 pages, 12 figures; Submitted to IJB

Do Android Taint Analysis Tools Keep Their Promises?

In recent years, researchers have developed a number of tools to conduct taint analysis of Android applications. While all the respective papers aim at providing a thorough empirical evaluation, comparability is hindered by varying or unclear evaluation targets. Sometimes, the apps used for evaluation are not precisely described. In other cases, authors use an established benchmark but cover it only partially. In yet other cases, the evaluations differ in terms of the data leaks searched for, or lack a ground truth to compare against. All those limitations make it impossible to truly compare the tools based on those published evaluations. We thus present ReproDroid, a framework allowing the accurate comparison of Android taint analysis tools. ReproDroid supports researchers in inferring the ground truth for data leaks in apps, in automatically applying tools to benchmarks, and in evaluating the obtained results. We use ReproDroid to comparatively evaluate on equal grounds the six prominent taint analysis tools Amandroid, DIALDroid, DidFail, DroidSafe, FlowDroid and IccTA. The results are largely positive although four tools violate some promises concerning features and accuracy. Finally, we contribute to the area of unbiased benchmarking with a new and improved version of the open test suite DroidBench

Fruits are easily damaged, therefore, a tracing system is needed to ensure the commodity is well received by consumers.  This study is a systematic review aims to  identify areas where the fruits traceability provides the most value for supply chain management and  to develop elements of a future research agenda for the fruits traceability in supply chain management.  PRISMA or Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses is used to help the systematic literature review.  The result showed thad there are several values in applying traceability to the fruit supply chain, such as traceability guarantees the quality of fruit in the supply chain, traceability protects from fraud.  Traceability will help increase consumer confidence in food safety, particularly on fruit.  Blockchain technology  is a promosing technology for a   traceability system in industry and can be used successfully, by modifying the supply chain system and meeting the limitations first
