The need for values education programs for both pre-service teachers and in-service teachers in Vietnam
This paper investigates the perceptions of pre-service teachers and in-service teachers regarding the concept of 'values education' and the preparation of values education in professional programs in Vietnam. Furthermore, the pedagogical strategies employed by teachers in addressing values education situations in their classrooms are explored. A qualitative research design was employed, involving interviews with forty-three pre-service teachers from a university. Additionally, eighteen teachers from two different high schools were interviewed, and their teaching sessions, along with school assemblies, were observed. The findings reveal that values education is primarily understood as the instruction of living skills and moral education. There is a lack of conceptualization and knowledge regarding values education among the participants. Both pre-service teachers and in-service teachers did not receive formal values education programs during their university education, and the support provided by schools in this regard was limited. Teachers tended to integrate values education into subjects randomly and subjectively, without employing advanced strategies. Inconsistencies in implementation and challenges associated with teaching values were observed. Highlighting an urgent necessity, this article emphasizes the imperative need for values education programs tailored for both pre-service and in-service teachers in Vietnam. It underscores the significance of adequately equipping teachers to effectively address values education in their classroom
Using the best - worst scale to assess the relative impact of these behaviors on other passengers on the same flight: The disruptive passenger behavior
A method called the best-worst scaling method is proposed to overcome these problems by asking respondents to make tradeoffs among the variables being assessed. This paper raises issues in respect of supplementing and developing a block of disruptive behaviors exhibited by passengers during flights and assesses the impact of these behaviors on other passengers. To illustrate the proposed method and evaluate its performance, we surveyed 240 passengers, and data from 203 survey samples were analyzed. The data analysis results revealed three behaviors that were considered the most disruptive, including (1) Threatening and causing distress, (2) Harassment and disrupting public order, and (3) Creating unsanitary conditions. This can be considered a suitable explanation with the high safety requirements of the air transport service, and the context of high expectation of post-covid hygiene and epidemiology
Construction of cDNA library and preliminary analysis of expressed sequence tags from green microalga Ankistrodesmus convolutus Corda
Green microalga Ankistrodesmus convolutus Corda is a fast growing alga which produces appreciable amount of carotenoids and polyunsaturated fatty acids. To our knowledge, this is the first report on the construction of cDNA library and preliminary analysis of ESTs for this species. The titers of the primary and amplified cDNA libraries were 1.1×10(6) and 6.0×10(9) pfu/ml respectively. The percentage of recombinants was 97% in the primary library and a total of 337 out of 415 original cDNA clones selected randomly contained inserts ranging from 600 to 1,500 bps. A total of 201 individual ESTs with sizes ranging from 390 to 1,038 bps were then analyzed and the BLASTX score revealed that 35.8% of the sequences were classified as strong match, 38.3% as nominal and 25.9% as weak match. Among the ESTs with known putative function, 21.4% of them were found to be related to gene expression, 14.4% ESTs to photosynthesis, 10.9% ESTs to metabolism, 5.5% ESTs to miscellaneous, 2.0% to stress response, and the remaining 45.8% were classified as novel genes. Analysis of ESTs described in this paper can be an effective approach to isolate and characterize new genes from A. convolutus and thus the sequences obtained represented a significant contribution to the extensive database of sequences from green microalgae
ESSENTIAL SELF-TRAINING SKILLS TO BECOME AN INTERPRETER: ENGLISH-MAJORING STUDENTS’ PERCEPTION
Currently, interpreting has become a profession in high demand. This study surveyed students' perceptions of the essential self-training skills to become an interpreter. The study used a questionnaire to collect data collection tool which was a survey with 12 multiple-choice questions and 4 open-ended questions. 82 English–majoring students of High-quality program Batch 45 – at Can Tho University participated in the survey. The results show that students majoring in High-quality English Language perceive the importance of skills in interpreting: shorthand skills, listening comprehension skills, memorization skills, visualization skills, presentation skills, skills in using search engines, teamwork skills, multi-tasking skills, and pronunciation skills. Students also pointed out a number of skills that they think are equally important if they want to become an interpreter such as reflexes, situational skills, and contextual skills. On that basis, a number of measures of how to support students to develop their own training plans and hone their skills for their future careers are proposed. Article visualizations
The customers’ perception of privacy in the retail industry when adopting digital transformation
In the current 4.0 context, digital transformation is a particularly necessary thing for retail businesses in particular or most businesses in general. That’s why a sense of privacy is so important to retailers. This paper focuses on the factors affecting the privacy perception of customers in the digital transformation period in Ho Chi Minh City. 452 Ho Chi Minh City people who have experience with the digital revolution participated in quantitative research to evaluate and examine this correlation. The results of the study show that privacy impression is influenced by privacy worries, retailer vs. consumer advantage, privacy-intrusive experience, and retailer credibility. The association between customer benefit and privacy perception and between technology hedonism and privacy perception is unaffected by the role of store trustworthiness moderators
The Synthesis and Photoluminescence of 3C-SiC Nanorods
The 3C-SiC nanorods were grown by using carbothermal reduction of SiO without any catalyst. The intensive broad photoluminescence peak around 480-500 nm was observed at room temperature. The 3C-SiC nanorods with green -- blue emitting light may have great application in display devices and light emitting diodes
Rapid and effective method of RNA isolation from green microalga Ankistrodesmus convolutus
The rapid and effective method for the isolation
of RNA from green microalga Ankistrodesmus convolutus
based on homogenization in a simple CTAB buffer and
selective precipitation of RNA with lithium chloride is
developed. This procedure avoids the use of toxic chaotropic
agents and phenol while high concentration of
dithiothreitol is used to inhibit RNase activity and prevent
oxidative cross-linking of nucleic acids by phenolics. The
extraction procedure was able to produce high quality and
intact RNA from A. convolutus. The yield of total RNA
was 0.69–0.73 mg/g of fresh weight, with A260/A280 ratio
of 1.79–1.86. The obtained RNA was of sufficient quality
and suitable for downstream application such as RT-PCR
and cDNA library construction. The procedure may also
have wider applicability for total RNA isolation from other
green microalgae species
Ambient-temperature conversion of metakaolin to sub-micron LTA zeolite and its copper ion removal efficiency
Nowadays “green” processes such as room temperature processes are interested in new researches for production of practical-important solid materials. Zeolitic LTA materials are commonly prepared by hydrothermal transformation using sodium hydroxide (NaOH), sodium aluminate (NaAlO2), and sodium metasilicate (Na2SiO3) at high temperatures (95 – 100 ◦C). In this study, sub-micron zeolite LTA was prepared at ambient temperature from metakaolin which is easily obtained from kaolin mineral. The prepared materials were characterized using various methods, including XRD to identify their structure, SEM and EDX to analyze the shape and proportional components of the elements, and the N2 adsorption–desorption method to determine the surface area and pore volume. Regarding the Cu2+ ion adsorption capability of the synthetic zeolite, the experimental results revealed that the sub-micron zeolite LTA has potential applications in practice because its adsorption rate exceeds that of the commercial zeolite and the rate constant of the second–order kinetics model of the prepared zeolite was 1.7 times higher than that of the commercial zeolite
