    Pengembangan Perangkat Pembelajaran Sains SMP Berorientasi pada Pendekatan Sains Teknologi Masyarakat untuk Meningkatkan Kemampuan Kognitif

    The availability of science learning instructional that integrate between the science, society and technology is still very limited so that it needs to be developed science-learning instructional with science, society and technology oriented. This learning instructional development aims to develop science learning instructional with science, technology and society approach oriented to improve students\u27 cognitive abilities. Learning instructional that have been developed in trials in class VIIb with a number of 30 students at State Yunior High School 2 Sepulu Madura through One Group Pretest-Postest Design. Instructional development uses the Kemp development model. The results showed that RPP validation, student textbooks, Student Worksheets, and category rating sheets were feasible with validity of instrument reliability of RPP 91%; Student book 90%; Student Worksheet 92%. The highest teacher activity is to guide the experiment by 22% at meeting one (P1) and at the second meeting (P2) 24%. Highest student activity is Observing with 22% (P1) and 24% (P2). Lesson learned on (P1 and P2) is implemented (92%) and (75%). Student responses to the instructional and learning are good categorized or students respond positively. Cognitive abilities seen from the completeness of Pretest learning indicators averaged <60 categorized incomplete, Postest average ≥ 60 categorized complete, individual completeness on average Pretest <60 categories incomplete, Postest average ≥ 65 category of completeness, and mastery classically on Pretest <75 is categorized incomplete, whereas in Postest ≥ 75 is complete. The conclusion of the research shows that the approach of Science, Techonology, and Society on damage and environmental pollution subject material in State Junior High School 2 Sepulu can improve students\u27 cognitive abilities and learning instructional used in this research categorized as valid and reliable

    This study aims to determine the effect of the problem-based learning model (PBL) with a scientific approach to critical thinking skills of class X students of Al-Ma'arif Pandan Indah Islamic High School 2016/2017 academic year. The type of research used is quasi-experiment with Nonequivalent control group design. The population in this study were all students of class X Islamic High School Al-Ma'arif Pandan. The sample used consisted of two classes taken using nonprobability sampling techniques, namely class XA as the experimental class, and class XB as the control class. The technique of collecting data on the implementation of RPP using the observation sheet and critical thinking skills of students was measured using a test in the form of a description question that had been validated by 2 expert experts. Data analysis of critical thinking skills carried out by t-test found that t-count = 2.58> 2.042. Based on the results of the analysis it can be concluded that the problem-based learning model with a scientific approach significantly influences students' critical thinking skills

    The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of using the contextual approach based on hands-on activity toward students' science process skills and cognitive learning outcomes of class VII of SMP 1 Kediri in the academic year 2016/2017. This type of research is quasi-experimental. The research sample consisted of 51 students divided into experimental classes and control classes. The technique of collecting data in the form of tests to assess students 'cognitive learning outcomes, and performance assessment for students' science process skills. The results showed that the experimental class posttest average was 47.59 and the control class was 55.8. The students' science process skills score for the experimental class with an average of 77.33 with a high category. The results of the t-test are obtained tcount <ttable (-2.012 <1.98), so that the contextual approach based on hands-on activity does not affect on the students' cognitive learning outcomes of class VII of SMP 1 Kediri in the academic year 2016/2017

    This study aims to describe the validity of local wisdom-based ecology teaching books to develop students\u27 scientific attitudes. This research is a qualitative descriptive study to assess and obtain a valid ecological textbook in developing the students\u27 scientific attitudes. Ecology textbooks are validated by 4 (four) validators. The results of the study indicate that; 1) the validator\u27s assessment of textbooks developed from aspects of content validity and construct validity is categorized as valid with a range of scores ˃ 3.6 with reliability for each component having a percentage agreement of ˃ 75%. This shows that local wisdom-based ecology teaching books are valid and can be used in learning activities

    [Title: The Conceptual Profile of Prospective Biology Teacher FPMIPA IKIP Mataram]. The conceptual profile is a tool for analyzing the style or process of thinking, so the profile of understanding concepts is very important to study as a basis for designing and improving the quality of learning. This research is a descriptive study that aims to identify and explain the conceptual profile of prospective biology teacher FPMIPA IKIP Mataram. The subjects in this study included all biology students who regularly program evolutionary courses. The open-ended question is designed to collect conceptual profile data on the evolutionary biology students from FPMIPA IKIP Mataram. Identification or determination of conceptual profile is based on student responses or answers. Based on the results of the research and the limitations of the discussion, it is recommended that the development of textbooks that are free of misconception as a learning resource for valid biology prospective teacher, then lecturers as instructors, continue to study and teach about attitude, namely scientific attitudes, or thinking dispositions, and/or integrating attitudes in the lecture process. Besides that, in the lecture or learning process, the lecturer must facilitate or empower the style or process of thinking of students with various learning methods or strategies that emphasize thinking processes, including formal reasoning, and analogical teaching strategy

    Ultra low-pressure filtration system for energy efficient microalgae filtration

    Microalgae-based products have gained growing interest leading to an increase in large-scale cultivation. However, the high energy associated with microalgae harvesting becomes one of the bottlenecks. This study evaluated an energy-efficient microalga harvesting via ultra-low-pressure membrane (ULPM) filtration (<20 kPa) in combination with aeration. ULPM offered various benefits especially in terms of reducing the energy consumption due to it operated under low transmembrane pressure (TMP). High TMP often associated with high pumping energy hence would increase the amount of energy consumed. In addition, membrane with high TMP would severely affect by membrane compaction. Results showed that membrane compaction leads to up to 66 % clean water permeability loss when increasing the TMP from 2.5 to 19 kPa. The Chlorella vulgaris broth permeabilities decreased from 1660 and 1250 to 296 and 251 L/m2hrbar for corresponding TMPs for system with and without aeration, respectively. However, it was found that membrane fouling was more vulnerable at low TMP due to poor foulant scouring from a low crossflow velocity in which up to 56 % of permeability losses were observed. Membrane fouling is the biggest drawback of membrane system as it would reduce the membrane performance. In this study, aeration was introduced as membrane fouling control to scour-off the foulant from membrane surface and pores. In terms of energy consumption, it was observed that the specific energy consumption for the ULPM were very low of up to 4.4 × 10−3 kWh/m3.
