    Projeto Logos –Educação Sexual em Escolas de Ensino Médio

    This article is an analysis of university extension activities developed by students of Medicine, from the Universidade Estadual do Oeste do Paraná (UNIOESTE), during the year 2011. The project is titled LOGOS – Knowing to Prevent – and its main objective is to inform and settle possible doubts of young high school students in the region of Western Paraná on prevention of sexually transmitted diseases (STD), unplanned early pregnancy, as well as addressing themes such as prejudice and sexuality. Such matters are dealt with dynamical activities. The realization of the activity is justified due to the high contingent of involuntary and early pregnancies and also to large amount of young people who become sexually active in Brazil and need information, because the early onset of sexual activity may be an aggravating factor for risk behavior for STD. During this year (2011) was reached an audience of 707 people. In each lecture was held an evaluation (using questionnaires) before and after the lectures, and were collected 83 pairs of questionnaires. Overall, the results of this assessment were positive, demonstrating acquisition of knowledge and belief in changing attitudes towards sexuality, indicating the relevance of the project for the dissemination of knowledge.Esse artigo é uma análise das atividades de extensão universitária desenvolvidas por alunos do Curso de Medicina da Universidade Estadual do Oeste do Paraná (UNIOESTE) durante o ano de 2011. O projeto se intitula Logos – conhecer para prevenir e tem como objetivo principal informar e dirimir possíveis dúvidas de jovens do Ensino Médio da região do Oeste do Estado do Paraná sobre prevenção de doenças sexualmente transmissíveis (DST), gravidez precoce não planejada, além de abordar temas como preconceito e sexualidade. Tais assuntos são abordados com realizações de dinâmicas. A realização da atividade justifica-se devido ao alto contingente de adolescentes grávidas involuntária e precocemente e também a grande quantidade de jovens que se tornam ativos sexualmente no Brasil e que necessitam de informação, pois o início precoce da vida sexual pode ser um agravante para o comportamento de risco frente a DST. Durante esse ano (2011) foi atingido um público de 707 pessoas. Em cada uma das apresentações realizou-se uma avaliação (através de questionários) antes e após a palestra, sendo coletados 83 pares de questionários. De modo geral, os resultados dessa avaliação foram positivos, demonstrando aquisição de conhecimento e crença na mudança de atitudes frente à sexualidade, evidenciando a relevância do projeto para a divulgação do conhecimento

    Development of the CMS detector for the CERN LHC Run 3

    International audienceSince the initial data taking of the CERN LHC, the CMS experiment has undergone substantial upgrades and improvements. This paper discusses the CMS detector as it is configured for the third data-taking period of the CERN LHC, Run 3, which started in 2022. The entire silicon pixel tracking detector was replaced. A new powering system for the superconducting solenoid was installed. The electronics of the hadron calorimeter was upgraded. All the muon electronic systems were upgraded, and new muon detector stations were added, including a gas electron multiplier detector. The precision proton spectrometer was upgraded. The dedicated luminosity detectors and the beam loss monitor were refurbished. Substantial improvements to the trigger, data acquisition, software, and computing systems were also implemented, including a new hybrid CPU/GPU farm for the high-level trigger

    International audienceAn observation is reported of the electroweak production of a W+W− pair in association with two jets, with both W bosons decaying leptonically. The data sample corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 138fb−1 of proton-proton collisions at s=13TeV, collected by the CMS detector at the CERN LHC. Events are selected by requiring exactly two opposite-sign leptons (electrons or muons) and two jets with large pseudorapidity separation and high dijet invariant mass. Events are categorized based on the flavor of the final-state leptons. A signal is observed with a significance of 5.6 standard deviations (5.2 expected) with respect to the background-only hypothesis. The measured fiducial cross section is 10.2±2.0fb and this value is consistent with the standard model prediction of 9.1±0.6fb

The data were recorded by the CMS experiment at a center-of-mass energy of pp collisions at the LHC of 13 TeV and correspond to an integrated luminosity of 138 fb1^{-1}. The study uses Higgs boson candidates produced mainly in gluon fusion or electroweak vector boson fusion at the LHC that subsequently decay to a pair of τ\tau leptons. Matrix-element and machine-learning techniques were employed in a search for anomalous interactions. The results are combined with those from the four-lepton and two-photon decay channels to yield the most stringent constraints on anomalous Higgs boson couplings to date. The pure CP-odd scenario of the Higgs boson coupling to gluons is excluded at 2.4 standard deviations.     Azimuthal correlations in Z +jets events in proton–proton collisions at s=13TeV\sqrt{s} = 13\,\text {Te}\hspace{-.08em}\text {V}

    The production of Z bosons associated with jets is measured in pp\text {p}\text {p} collisions at s=13TeV\sqrt{s}=13\,\text {Te}\hspace{-.08em}\text {V} with data recorded with the CMS experiment at the LHC corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 36.3fb1\,\text {fb}^{-1}. The multiplicity of jets with transverse momentum pT>30GeVp_{\textrm{T}} > 30\,\text {Ge}\hspace{-.08em}\text {V} is measured for different regions of the Z boson’s pT()p_{\textrm{T}} (\text {Z }), from lower than 10GeV\,\text {Ge}\hspace{-.08em}\text {V} to higher than 100GeV\,\text {Ge}\hspace{-.08em}\text {V}. The azimuthal correlation Δϕ\varDelta \phi between the Z boson and the leading jet, as well as the correlations between the two leading jets are measured in three regions of pT()p_{\textrm{T}} (\text {Z }). The measurements are compared with several predictions at leading and next-to-leading orders, interfaced with parton showers. Predictions based on transverse-momentum dependent parton distributions and corresponding parton showers give a good description of the measurement in the regions where multiple parton interactions and higher jet multiplicities are not important. The effects of multiple parton interactions are shown to be important to correctly describe the measured spectra in the low pT()p_{\textrm{T}} (\text {Z }) regions

    Search for CPCP violation in D0^0\to KS0^0_\mathrm{S}KS0^0_\mathrm{S} decays in proton-proton collisions at s\sqrt{s} = 13 TeV

    International audienceA search is reported for charge-parity D0^0\to KS0^0_\mathrm{S}KS0^0_\mathrm{S}CPCP violation in D0^0\to KS0^0_\mathrm{S}KS0^0_\mathrm{S} decays, using data collected in proton-proton collisions at s\sqrt{s} = 13 TeV recorded by the CMS experiment in 2018. The analysis uses a dedicated data set that corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 41.6 fb1^{-1}, which consists of about 10 billion events containing a pair of ẖadrons, nearly all of which decay to charm hadrons. The flavor of the neutral D meson is determined by the pion charge in the reconstructed decays D+^{*+}\to D0π+^0\pi^+ and D^{*-}\to D0π^0\pi^-. The D0^0\to KS0^0_\mathrm{S}KS0^0_\mathrm{S}CPCP asymmetry in D0^0\to KS0^0_\mathrm{S}KS0^0_\mathrm{S} is measured to be ACPA_{CP}( KS0^0_\mathrm{S}KS0^0_\mathrm{S}) = (6.2 ±\pm 3.0 ±\pm 0.2 ±\pm 0.8)%, where the three uncertainties represent the statistical uncertainty, the systematic uncertainty, and the uncertainty in the measurement of the D0^0 \to KS0^0_\mathrm{S}KS0^0_\mathrm{S} CPCP asymmetry in the D0^0 \to KS0π+π^0_\mathrm{S}\pi^+\pi^- decay. This is the first D0^0 \to KS0^0_\mathrm{S}KS0^0_\mathrm{S} CPCP asymmetry measurement by CMS in the charm sector as well as the first to utilize a fully hadronic final state

    First evidence for off-shell production of the Higgs boson and measurement of its width

    The first evidence for off-shell Higgs production is reported in the final state with two Z bosons decaying into either four charged leptons (muons or electrons), or two charged leptons and two neutrinos, and a measurement of the Higgs boson width is performed. Results are based on data from the CMS experiment at the LHC at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of up to 140 fb1^{-1}. The total rate of off-shell Higgs boson production beyond the Z boson pair production threshold, relative to its standard model expectation, is constrained to the interval [0.0061, 2.0] at 95% confidence level. The scenario with no off-shell production is excluded at 99.97% confidence level (3.6 standard deviations). The width of the Higgs boson is extracted as ΓH\Gamma_{\mathrm{H}} = 3.21.7+2.4_{-1.7}^{+2.4} MeV, in agreement with the standard model expectation of 4.1 MeV. The data are also used to set new constraints on anomalous Higgs boson couplings to W and Z boson pairs
