Axial collective excitations of a degenerate Fermi gas in the BEC to unitarity crossover
We show that, with reasonable hypotheses leading to a simple modeling,a link
can be obtained from experiments on the axial low frequency collective modes
between the molecular scattering length and the energy parameter of the gas at the unitarity limit. We also point out that, in
order to reach the range where the features of the Bose limit can be clearly
seen, experiments have to go to more dilute situations than have been achieved

Outcomes of interferon alpha and ribavirin treatment for chronic hepatitis C in patients with normal serum aminotransaminases
INTRODUCTION: Information on treatment outcomes with interferon plus ribavirin combination therapy in chronic hepatitis C patients with normal alanine aminotransaminase (ALT) levels is limited. AIM: The aims of this study were to assess outcomes of treatment with interferon plus ribavirin in patients with normal ALT levels (normal ALT group, n=52) compared with those with elevated ALT levels (raised ALT group, n=53), and to document the rate at which patients with normal ALT levels have an apparent worsening of disease, as shown by increases in ALT levels. RESULTS: At the end of treatment (week 48), 31 patients (59.6%) in the normal ALT group and 30 patients (56.6%) in the raised ALT group had undetectable hepatitis C virus (HCV) RNA (p=0.75). A sustained virological response (SVR) was achieved in 20 patients (38.5%) in the normal ALT group and in 21 patients (39.6%) in the raised ALT group (p=0.90). Patients were subsequently followed up for a median of 29.8 (interquartile range 25th-75th percentile (IQR) 20.8-36.2) months in the normal ALT group and for a median of 26.1 (IQR 17.7-36.3) months in the raised group (p=0.20) after week 72 of treatment. Among patients without SVR in the normal ALT group, only three patients (9.4%) developed persistently raised ALT levels following therapy. CONCLUSIONS: Combination therapy with interferon plus ribavirin is associated with a similar SVR in patients with normal ALT levels compared with those with elevated ALT levels. Structure and dielectric response in the high ferroelectric Bi(Zn,Ti)O-PbTiO solid solutions
Theoretical {\em ab initio} and experimental methods were used to investigate
the Bi(Zn,Ti)O-(1-)PbTiO (BZT-PT) solid solution. We find that
hybridization between Zn 4 and O 2 orbitals allows the formation of
short, covalent Zn-O bonds, enabling favorable coupling between A-site and
B-site displacements. This leads to large polarization, strong tetragonality
and an elevated ferroelectric to paraelectric phase transition temperature.
nhomogeneities in local structure near the 90 domain boundaries can be
deduced from the asymetric peak broadening in the neutron and x-ray diffraction
spectra. These extrinsic effects make the ferroelectric to paraelectric phase
transition diffuse in BZT-PT solid solutions
Analysis of Sub-threshold Short Gamma-ray Bursts in Fermi GBM Data
The Fermi Gamma-ray Burst Monitor (GBM) is currently the most prolific
detector of Gamma-Ray Bursts (GRBs). Recently the detection rate of short GRBs
(SGRBs) has been dramatically increased through the use of ground-based
searches that analyze GBM continuous time tagged event (CTTE) data. Here we
examine the efficiency of a method developed to search CTTE data for
sub-threshold transient events in temporal coincidence with LIGO/Virgo compact
binary coalescence triggers. This targeted search operates by coherently
combining data from all 14 GBM detectors by taking into account the complex
spatial and energy dependent response of each detector. We use the method to
examine a sample of SGRBs that were independently detected by the Burst Alert
Telescope on board the Neil Gehrels Swift Observatory, but which were too
intrinsically weak or viewed with unfavorable instrument geometry to initiate
an on-board trigger of GBM. We find that the search can successfully recover a
majority of the BAT detected sample in the CTTE data. We show that the targeted
search of CTTE data will be crucial in increasing the GBM sensitivity, and
hence the gamma-ray horizon, to weak events such as GRB 170817A. We also
examine the properties of the GBM signal possibly associated with the LIGO
detection of GW150914 and show that it is consistent with the observed
properties of other sub-threshold SGRBs in our sample. We find that the
targeted search is capable of recovering true astrophysical signals as weak as

Pseudoscalar mixing in J/psi and psi(2S) decay
Based on the branching fractions of J/psi(psi(2S))-> VP from different
collaborations, the pseudoscalar mixing is extensively discussed with a well
established phenomenological model. The mixing angle is determined to be -14
degree by fitting to the new world average if only quark content is considered.
After taking into account the gluonic content in eta and eta prime
simultaneously, the investigation shows that eta favors only consisting of
light quarks, while the gluonic content of eta prime is Z_{eta
prime}^2=0.30\pm0.24.Comment: 8 page
Particle Energization in an Expanding Magnetized Relativistic Plasma
Using a 2-1/2-dimensional particle-in-cell (PIC) code to simulate the
relativistic expansion of a magnetized collisionless plasma into a vacuum, we
report a new mechanism in which the magnetic energy is efficiently converted
into the directed kinetic energy of a small fraction of surface particles. We
study this mechanism for both electron-positron and electron-ion (mi/me=100, me
is the electron rest mass) plasmas. For the electron-positron case the pairs
can be accelerated to ultra-relativistic energies. For electron-ion plasmas

CD4+ T-cell responses to Epstein-Barr virus nuclear antigen EBNA1 in Chinese populations are highly focused on novel C-terminal domain-derived epitopes
Epstein-Barr virus nuclear antigen EBNA1, the one viral protein uniformly expressed in nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC), represents a prime target for T-cell-based immunotherapy. However, little is known about the EBNA1 epitopes, particularly CD4 epitopes, presented by HLA alleles in Chinese people, the group at highest risk for NPC. We analyzed the CD4 T-cell responses to EBNA1 in 78 healthy Chinese donors and found marked focusing on a small number of epitopes in the EBNA1 C-terminal region, including a DP5- restricted epitope that was recognized by almost half of the donors tested and elicited responses able to recognize EBNA1-expressing, DP5-positive target cells
Discovery of gamma-ray emission from the supernova remnant Kes 17 with Fermi Large Area Telescope
We report the discovery of GeV emission at the position of supernova remnant
Kes 17 by using the data from the Large Area Telescope on board the Fermi
Gamma-ray Space Telescope. Kes 17 can be clearly detected with a significance
of ~12 sigma in the 1 - 20 GeV range. Moreover, a number of gamma-ray sources
were detected in its vicinity. The gamma-ray spectrum of Kes 17 can be well
described by a simple power-law with a photon index of ~ 2.4. Together with the
multi-wavelength evidence for its interactions with the nearby molecular cloud,
the gamma-ray detection suggests that Kes 17 is a candidate acceleration site
