    Efficacy evaluation of antidepressant drugs utilized at tertiary care centre in North Karnataka in psychiatric outpatient department

    Background: Depression is the major psychotic disorder affecting 9.5% of population worldwide. Present study investigates the prescribing patterns of different antidepressants evaluating their efficacy.Methods: This was a prospective, observational study which was conducted in the out-patient department of Psychiatry and Pharmacology in Gulbarga Institute of Medical Sciences, Kalaburagi. A total of 200 cases were enrolled for the present study. Statistical analysis for efficacy was done using Wilcoxson’s signed rank test.Results: Predominantly, females suffered from depression when compared to male counterparts. In our study, monotherapy was practiced more frequently than polytherapy with 2 or more drugs. Selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) like Escitalopram was found out to be the most widely used antidepressant drug.Conclusions: Among antidepressant medications, SSRIs are preferred over others because of their better side effect profile

    Mapping of literature on data mining by j-gate database

    The present study discusses the “Data Mining” as reflected in J-gate for the period from 2010–2019. The present paper investigates the research area, productive authors, highly ranked authors, year-wise growth, and geographical distribution of the research output. The result indicates that there was a total of 6107 articles had been published on Data Mining from 2010 to 2019. The result shows that India and the United States of America have contributed the highest articles on Data Mining. This study reveals that the highest number of publications were published in the subject Information Science and Systems, and Jason H Moore from the University of Pennsylvania, USA has the highest number of articles during the selected period, i.e. 2010-2019

    Open access movement has given potential strength to the academic community by providing free and open access to scholarly communication. The Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ) is a platform that provides access to millions of articles on various subjects from across the world. In the present paper, the authors have analysed the contribution from The Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC) countries during 2002-2019. The authors have analysed geographical distribution, cumulative growth, discipline wise distribution, DOAJ seal, Article processing charges (APC), domains, peer reviews, language-wise distribution, formats, frequency of the journals, etc. The present study found that India has contributed the highest number of journals among the BIMSTEC countries, and the highest number of journals were contributed in the field of Medicine

    Measuring Research Contributions of Prof. Anurag Kumar: A Scientometric Analysis

    The present study aims to measure the contributions of Prof. Anurag Kumar, who served as the Director at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) in Bengaluru between August 2014 to July 2020. He has contributed 181 publications during his 36 years of career. He has published his majority of publications 171 (94.48%) in collaboration; most active collaborators with Prof. Anurag Kumar are Altman E. with (17) publications, Kuri Joy (15), Anand (14), and Singh (12). His highest Collaboration Coefficient found is 0.73 in 2013, and the highest Modified Collaboration Coefficient is 1.33 in the year 2018. The highest degree of collaboration observed for Prof. Anurag Kumar was 1.00. The highest Collaborative Index of Prof. Anurag found is 4.75 in the year 2016. His publications received 2595 citations so far, with 14.3 citations for each publication and an average citation of 72.08 per year. He has produced most of his publications in the field of computer science (45.9%). He preferred conference papers as his communication channel, where he published 100 (55.24%) papers out of 181. Prof. Anurag Kumar has contributed the highest (62) publication between 2005-2010, and he has published his first publication at the age of 30

    A bibliometric analysis of open knowledge resources : a study

    The present paper deals with a Bibliometric analysis of the published literature on Open Knowledge Resources for the period from 2014 to 2019. The data for the study was extracted from the Scival database of the Elsevier. A total of 3943 articles were retrieved for six years. The present paper investigates the year-wise growth, highly ranked authors, highest contributed institutions, most productive journals and geographical distribution of the research output. The result shows that the United States of America has contributed the highest number of articles (885) on Open Knowledge. This study reveals that the highest number of publications were published in the year of 2018, and Piedra, N. of Universidad TĂ©cnica Particular de Loja, Ecuador has the highest number (15) of articles with 115 citations during the selected period, i.e. 2014-2019

    Measuring global scientific research on COVID-19: a bibliometric analysis

    The COVID-19, become the critical health issues globally since its outbreak in China in December 2019, since, then the global research has spiked on this topic. The objective of the present study is to know the publications on COVID-19 by conducting a bibliometric analysis using available data on the Scopus database. The Selected documents related to COVID-19 extracted on 26th April 2020 from Scopus. The following analysis parameters used for this study are the pattern of authorship, international collaboration, document types, languages, published sources, affiliations, country-wise contributions, and citations. The present study analysed 3693 publications were available as on 26th April 2020 on Scopus from 116 countries. The highest number documents 51.16% published as articles, and the majority of them (94.40 %) are available in English. China has topped the list with 1053 (28.51%) publications with 5831 citations, while the USA (299) has the highest number of international collaboration. This study also found that Mahase, E. from the UK is the most prolific author with 31 publications, and Huazhong University of Science and Technology, China topes the affiliation list with 131, while BMJ Clinical Research Ed published the highest (125) articles

    Awareness, Use and Impact of Electronic Information Resources by the Patrons of Narsee Monjeee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS) Hyderabad: A Study

    This paper discussed various types of electronic information resources used by the patrons at NMIMS, Hyderabad. This paper reveals the awareness level, usage, purposes, frequency, issues, benefits, and search techniques while accessing the electronic information resources. The study was conducted through a structured online questionnaire due to the nationwide lockdown for the unpredicted COVID-19 outbreak in the country. the online survey was mailed among 150 patrons which include students, faculty, and non-teaching staff of NMIMS, Hyderabad. Out of 150, 120 dully filled in responses were received with an overall response rate of 80%. The study concluded that the majority of the users are aware of various types of EIR's, and these resources have made a potential impact on the academic activates of the users in the said institution

    The present study carried out to know the awareness of plagiarism among research scholars of Karnataka State Akkamahadevi Women’s University, Vijayapura (India). A structured questionnaire was designed and distributed among research scholars to collect their opinion on the topic. This study found that the majority of the scholars 68 (100%) are aware of various kinds of plagiarism and many 44 (64.71%) of them learnt about plagiarism through fellow scholars. This study also investigates that most of the scholars are 47 (69.12%) aware of Urkund, a plagiarism detection software, and 31 (45.59%) of them know about APA (American Psychological Association) reference style. A 48 (70.59%) are copying other works as they felt that hard to find original ideas/thoughts and because of laziness and 47 (69.12%) of them are giving proper citations to avoid the plagiaris
