MOST of China [2011CB932403]; NSFC [21131005, 21021061, 20925103]; Fok Ying Tung Education Foundation [121011]The combined use of thiolate and diphosphine as surface ligands helps to stabilize subnanometer Ag(0) nanoclusters, resulting in the successful crystallization of two Ag(0)-containing nanoclusters (Ag-16 and Ag-32) for X-ray single crystal analysis. Both clusters have core-shell structures with Ag-8(6+) and Ag-22(12+) as their cores, which are not simply either fragments of face-centered cubic metals or their fivefold twinned counterparts. The clusters display UV-Vis absorption spectra consisting of molecule-like optical transitions

Breast metastasis from lung adenocarcinoma: a case report and review of the literature

    Get PDF
Lung cancer (LC) is one of the most lethal and most prevalent malignant tumors, and lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) is the most common pathological type of lung cancer. Breast cancer (BC) is the most common cancer worldwide, but metastases to the breast from extramammary neoplasms are rare, especially from the lung. Early diagnosis and differentiation of primary from metastatic breast carcinoma are essential. Here, we present a case of metastases to the breast from lung adenocarcinoma, the treatment options varied according to disease progression

MOST of China [2011CB932403]; NSFC [21131005, 21021061, 20925103, 20923004]; Fok Ying Tung Education Foundation [121011]Here we present a surfactant-free strategy to prepare supported monodisperse Pt nanoparticles from molecular [Pt-3(CO)(3)(mu(2)-CO)(3)](5)(2-) clusters. The strategy allows facile deposition of same-sized Pt nanoparticles on various oxide supports to unambiguously study the interface effect between noble metal and metal oxide in catalysis. In this study, Fe2O3 is demonstrated to be a superior support over TiO2, CeO2 and SiO2 to prepare highly active supported Pt nanoparticles for CO oxidation, which indicates that the interfaces between Pt and iron oxide are the active sites for O-2 activation and CO oxidation

Genomic and phenotypic analyses reveal Paenibacillus polymyxa PJH16 is a potential biocontrol agent against cucumber fusarium wilt

In recent years, bacterial-based biocontrol agents (BCA) have become a new trend for the control of fungal diseases such as fusarium wilt that seriously threaten the yield and quality of cucumber, which are transmitted through infested soil and water. This study was set out with the aim of figuring the mechanism of the isolated rhizobacterial strain Paenibacillus polymyxa PJH16 in preventing Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. cucumerinum (Foc). Biocontrol and growth-promoting experiments revealed that bacterial strain causes effective inhibition of the fungal disease through a significant growth-promoting ability of plants, and had activities of β-1,3-glucanase, cellulase, amylase and protease. It could produce siderophore and indole-3-acetic acid, too. Using the high-throughput sequencing tool PacBio Sequel II system and the database annotation, the bacterial strain was identified as P. polymyxa PJH16 and contained genes encoding for presence of biofilm formation, antimicrobial peptides, siderophores and hydrolyases. From comparing data between the whole genome of P. polymyxa PJH16 with four closely related P. polymyxa strains, findings revealed markedly the subtle differences in their genome sequences and proposed new antifungal substances present in P. polymyxa PJH16. Therefore, P. polymyxa PJH16 could be utilized in bioengineering a microbial formulation for application as biocontrol agent and bio-stimulant, in the future

Industrial steam consumption analysis and prediction based on multi-source sensing data for sustainable energy development

Centralized heating is an energy-saving and environmentally friendly way that is strongly promoted by the state. It can improve energy utilization and reduce carbon emissions. However, Centralized heating depends on accurate heat demand forecasting. On the one hand, it is impossible to save energy if over producing, while on the other hand, it is impossible to meet the heat demand of enterprises if there is not enough capacity. Therefore, it is necessary to forecast the future trend of heat consumption, so as to provide a reliable basis for enterprises to reasonably deploy fuel stocks and boiler power. At the same time, it is also necessary to analyze and monitor the steam consumption of enterprises for abnormalities in order to monitor pipeline leakage and enterprise gas theft. Due to the nonlinear characteristics of heat load, it is difficult for traditional forecasting methods to capture data trend. Therefore, it is necessary to study the characteristics of heat loads and explore suitable heat load prediction models. In this paper, industrial steam consumption of a paper manufacturer is used as an example, and steam consumption data are periodically analyzed to study its time series characteristics; then steam consumption prediction models are established based on ARIMA model and LSTM neural network, respectively. The prediction work was carried out in minutes and hours, respectively. The experimental results show that the LSTM neural network has greater advantages in this steam consumption load prediction and can meet the needs of heat load prediction

Cang-ai volatile oil alleviates nasal inflammation via Th1/Th2 cell imbalance regulation in a rat model of ovalbumin-induced allergic rhinitis

We previously revealed that Cang-ai volatile oil (CAVO) regulates T-cell activity, enhancing the immune response in people with chronic respiratory diseases. However, the effects of CAVO on allergic rhinitis (AR) have not been investigated. Herein, we established an ovalbumin (OVA)-induced AR rat model to determine these effects. Sprague–Dawley (SD) rats were exposed to OVA for 3 weeks. CAVO or loratadine (positive control) was given orally once daily for 2 weeks to OVA-exposed rats. Behavior modeling nasal allergies was observed. Nasal mucosa, serum, and spleen samples of AR rats were analyzed. CAVO treatment significantly reduced the number of nose rubs and sneezes, and ameliorated several hallmarks of nasal mucosa tissue remodeling: inflammation, eosinophilic infiltration, goblet cell metaplasia, and mast cell hyperplasia. CAVO administration markedly upregulated expressions of interferon-γ, interleukin (IL)-2, and IL-12, and downregulated expressions of serum tumor necrosis factor-α, IL-4, IL-5, IL-6, IL-13, immunoglobulin-E, and histamine. CAVO therapy also increased production of IFN-γ and T-helper type 1 (Th1)-specific T-box transcription factor (T-bet) of the cluster of differentiation-4+ T-cells in splenic lymphocytes, and protein and mRNA expressions of T-bet in nasal mucosa. In contrast, levels of the Th2 cytokine IL-4 and Th2-specific transcription factor GATA binding protein-3 were suppressed by CAVO. These cumulative findings demonstrate that CAVO therapy can alleviate AR by regulating the balance between Th1 and Th2 cells

Here we report crystal structures and theoretical analysis of three Ag44(SR)30 and three Au12Ag32(SR)30 intermetallic nanoclusters stabilized with fluorinated arylthiols (SR=SPhF, SPhF2 or SPhCF3). The nanocluster forms a Keplerate solid of concentric icosahedral and dodecahedral atom shells, protected by six Ag2(SR)5 units. Positive counterions in the crystal indicate a high negative charge of 4− per nanoparticle, and density functional theory calculations explain the stability as an 18-electron superatom shell closure in the metal core. Highly featured optical absorption spectra in the ultraviolet–visible region are analysed using time-dependent density functional perturbation theory. This work forms a basis for further understanding, engineering and controlling of stability as well as electronic and optical properties of these novel nanomaterials.国家自然科学基金(项目批准号:21131005, 21021061, 20925103)、科技部(项目批准号:2011CB932403, 2009CB930703)和芬兰科学院基
