IS Per Capita Real GDP Stationary in China¡H Evidence Based on A Panel SURADF Approach
In this study we use newly developed Panel SURADF tests of the Breuer et al., (2001) to investigate the time-series properties of 25 Chinese provinces¡¦ per capita real GDP for the 1952-1998 period. While the other Panel-based unit root tests are joint tests of a unit root for all members of the panel and are incapable of determining the mix of I(0) and I(1) series in the panel setting, the Panel SURADF tests a separate unit-root null hypothesis for each individual panel member and, therefore identifies how many and which series in the panel are stationary processes. The empirical results indicate that for all the provinces studied per capita real GDP are non-stationary, except Hebei, Jeilongjiang, Qinghai and Shaanxi when Breuer et al.¡¦s (2001) Panel SURADF tests are conducted.Per Capita Real GDP Panel Unit Root Tests
Dynamic Power Index Adjustment Based On Battery Level
This disclosure describes techniques for dynamic adjustment of output power index of a wireless remote controller device based on a detected battery level of the device. The battery voltage level of the device is periodically measured. When the level falls below a predetermined threshold, the output power index is adjusted to ensure that the total transmit power from the controller device lies within a specified range. Dynamic adjustment of transmit power via the power index adjustment enables the controller device to have a transmit power that lies between the power spectral distribution (PSD) target and the PSD limit (maximum) over a range of battery voltage values
An NLoS-based Enhanced Sensing Method for MmWave Communication System
The millimeter-wave (mmWave)-based Wi-Fi sensing technology has recently
attracted extensive attention since it provides a possibility to realize higher
sensing accuracy. However, current works mainly concentrate on sensing
scenarios where the line-of-sight (LoS) path exists, which significantly limits
their applications. To address the problem, we propose an enhanced mmWave
sensing algorithm in the 3D non-line-of-sight environment (mm3NLoS), aiming to
sense the direction and distance of the target when the LoS path is weak or
blocked. Specifically, we first adopt the directional beam to estimate the
azimuth/elevation angle of arrival (AoA) and angle of departure (AoD) of the
reflection path. Then, the distance of the related path is measured by the fine
timing measurement protocol. Finally, we transform the AoA and AoD of the
multiple non-line-of-sight (NLoS) paths into the direction vector and then
obtain the information of targets based on the geometric relationship. The
simulation results demonstrate that mm3NLoS can achieve a centimeter-level
error with a 2m spacing. Compared to the prior work, it can significantly
reduce the performance degradation under the NLoS condition
Semi-rational design of nitroarene dioxygenase for catalytic ability toward 2,4-dichloronitrobenzene
Rieske non-heme dioxygenase family enzymes play an important role in the aerobic biodegradation of nitroaromatic pollutants, but no active dioxygenases are available in nature for initial reactions in the degradation of many refractory pollutants like 2,4-dichloronitrobenzene (24DCNB). Here, we report the engineering of hotspots in 2,3-dichloronitrobenzene dioxygenase from Diaphorobacter sp. strain JS3051, achieved through molecular dynamic simulation analysis and site-directed mutagenesis, with the aim of enhancing its catalytic activity toward 24DCNB. The computationally predicted activity scores were largely consistent with the detected activities in wet experiments. Among them, the two most beneficial mutations (E204M and M248I) were obtained, and the combined mutant reached up to a 62-fold increase in activity toward 24DCNB, generating a single product, 3,5-dichlorocatechol, which is a naturally occurring compound. In silico analysis confirmed that residue 204 affected the substrate preference for meta-substituted nitroarenes, while residue 248 may influence substrate preference by interaction with residue 295. Overall, this study provides a framework for manipulating nitroarene dioxygenases using computational methods to address various nitroarene contamination problems
DEXON: A Highly Scalable, Decentralized DAG-Based Consensus Algorithm
A blockchain system is a replicated state machine that must be fault
tolerant. When designing a blockchain system, there is usually a trade-off
between decentralization, scalability, and security. In this paper, we propose
a novel blockchain system, DEXON, which achieves high scalability while
remaining decentralized and robust in the real-world environment. We have two
main contributions. First, we present a highly scalable sharding framework for
blockchain. This framework takes an arbitrary number of single chains and
transforms them into the \textit{blocklattice} data structure, enabling
\textit{high scalability} and \textit{low transaction confirmation latency}
with asymptotically optimal communication overhead. Second, we propose a
single-chain protocol based on our novel verifiable random function and a new
Byzantine agreement that achieves high decentralization and low latency
