Solutions of special asymptotics to the Einstein constraint equations

We construct solutions with prescribed asymptotics to the Einstein constraint equations using a cut-off technique. Moreover, we give various examples of vacuum asymptotically flat manifolds whose center of mass and angular momentum are ill-defined.Comment: 13 pages; the error in Lemma 3.5 fixed and typos corrected; to appear in Class. Implications of the non-universal Z boson in FCNC mediated rare decays

We analyze the effect of the non-universal ZZ boson in the rare decays Bsl+lB_s \to l^+ l^- , Bsl+lγB_s \to l^+ l^- \gamma and ZbsˉZ \to b \bar s decays. These decays involve the FCNC mediated bs b \to s transitions, and are found to be very small in the standard model. The smallness of these decays in the standard model makes them sensitive probe for new physics. We find an enhancement of at least an order in these branching ratios because of the non-universal ZbsZbs coupling.Comment: 15 pages, 4 figures, minor changes in the text, references added, to appear in PR

Fatigue failure of materials under broad band random vibrations

    Get PDF
The fatigue life of material under multifactor influence of broad band random excitations has been investigated. Parameters which affect the fatigue life are postulated to be peak stress, variance of stress and the natural frequency of the system. Experimental data were processed by the hybrid computer. Based on the experimental results and regression analysis a best predicting model has been found. All values of the experimental fatigue lives are within the 95% confidence intervals of the predicting equation

Transverse momentum dependence in the perturbative calculation of pion form factor

By reanalysing transverse momentum dependence in the perturbative calculation of pion form factor an improved expression of pion form factor which takes into account the transverse momentum dependenc in hard scattering amplitude and intrinsic transverse momentum dependence associated with pion wave functions is given to leading order, which is available for momentum transfers of the order of a few GeV as well as for QQ \to \infty. Our scheme can be extended to evaluate the contributions to the pion form factor beyond leading order.Comment: 13 pages in LaTeX, plus 3 Postscript figure

Cancellation of Infrared Divergences in Hadronic Annihilation Decays of Heavy Quarkonia

In the framework of a newly developed factorization formalism which is based on NRQCD, explicit cancellations are shown for the infrared divergences that appeared in the previously calculated hadronic annihilation decay rates of P-wave and D-wave heavy quarkonia. We extend them to a more general case that to leading order in v2v^2 and next-to-leading order in αs\alpha_s, the infrared divergences in the annihilation amplitudes of color-singlet QQˉ(2S+1LJ)Q\bar{Q}(^{2S+1}L_J) pair can be removed by including the contributions of color-octet operators QQˉ(2S+1(L1)J)Q\bar{Q}(^{2S+1}(L-1)_{J'}), QQˉ(2S+1(L3)J)Q\bar{Q}(^{2S+1}(L-3)_{J''}), ... in NRQCD. We also give the decay widths of 3DJLH^3D_J\rightarrow LH at leading order in αs\alpha_s.Comment: 8 pages, LaTex(3 figures included), to be publishe

Hadronic Annihilation Decay Rates of P-wave Heavy Quarkonia with Both Relativistic and QCD Radiative Corrections

Hadronic annihilation decay rates of P-wave heavy quarkonia are given to next-to-leading order in both αs\alpha_s and v2v^2. They include ten nonperturbative parameters, which can be rigorously defined as the matrix elements of color-singlet and color-octet operators in NRQCD. We expect these papameters will be determined from lattice calculations in future.Comment: 5 Pages RevTex. The paper is withdraw

Momentum Distribution for Bosons with Positive Scattering Length in a Trap

The coordinate-momentum double distribution function ρ(r,p)d3rd3p\rho ({\bf r}, {\bf p}) d^{3}rd^{3}p is calculated in the local density approximation for bosons with positive scattering length aa in a trap. The calculation is valid to the first order of aa. To clarify the meaning of the result, it is compared for a special case with the double distribution function ρwd3rd3p\rho_{w}d^{3} rd^{3}p of Wigner.Comment: Latex fil

Flow equations in generalized braneworld scenarios

    Get PDF
We discuss the flow equations in the context of general braneworld cosmologies with a modified Friedmann equation, for either an ordinary scalar field or a Dirac-Born-Infeld tachyon as inflaton candidates. The 4D, Randall-Sundrum, and Gauss-Bonnet cases are compared, using the patch formalism which provides a unified description of these models. The inflationary dynamics is described by a tower of flow parameters that can be evolved in time to select a particular subset of points in the space of cosmological observables. We analyze the stability of the fixed points in all the cosmologies (our results in the 4D case already extending those in the literature). Numerical integration of the flow equations shows that the predictions of the Gauss-Bonnet braneworld differ significantly as compared to the Randall-Sundrum and 4D scenarios, whereas tachyon inflation gives tensor perturbations smaller than those in the presence of a normal scalar field. These results are extended to the realization of a noncommutative space-time preserving maximal symmetry. In this case the tensor-to-scalar signal is unchanged, while blue-tilted spectra are favoured.Comment: 10 pages RevTeX4 with 3 figures included. Matches published version.
