Singlet-triplet transitions in highly correlated nanowire quantum dots
We consider a quantum dot embedded in a three-dimensional nanowire with
tunable aspect ratio a. A configuration interaction theory is developed to
calculate the energy spectra of the finite 1D quantum dot systems charged with
two electrons in the presence of magnetic fields B along the wire axis.
Fruitful singlet-triplet transition behaviors are revealed and explained in
terms of the competing exchange interaction, correlation interaction, and spin
Zeeman energy. In the high aspect ratio regime, the singlet-triplet transitions
are shown designable by tuning the parameters a and B. The transitions also
manifest the highly correlated nature of long nanowire quantum dots.Comment: 4 pages, 4 figure
Twist-3 Distribute Amplitude of the Pion in QCD Sum Rules
We apply the background field method to calculate the moments of the pion
two-particles twist-3 distribution amplitude (DA) in QCD sum
rules. In this paper,we do not use the equation of motion for the quarks inside
the pion since they are not on shell and introduce a new parameter to
be determined. We get the parameter in this approach. If
assuming the expansion of in the series in Gegenbauer polynomials
, one can obtain its approximate expression which can be

A peptide inhibitor of exportin1 blocks shuttling of the adenoviral E1B 55 kDa protein but not export of viral late mRNAs
AbstractThe human subgroup C adenoviral E1B 55 kDa and E4 Orf6 proteins are required for efficient nuclear export of viral late mRNAs, but the cellular pathway that mediates such export has not been identified. As a first step to develop a general approach to address this issue, we have assessed the utility of cell-permeable peptide inhibitors of cellular export receptors. As both E1B and E4 proteins have been reported to contain a leucine-rich nuclear export signal (NES), we synthesized a cell-permeable peptide containing such an NES. This peptide induced substantial inhibition of export of the E1B protein, whereas a control, non-functional peptide did not. However, under the same conditions, the NES peptide had no effect on export of viral late mRNAs. These observations establish that viral late mRNAs are not exported by exportin1, as well as the value of peptide inhibitors in investigation of mRNA export regulation in adenovirus-infected cells
Evaluating e-portfolio Using by Learning Stages: A Case Study in an Interdisciplinary Program
This study conducts an investigation of posts in the e-portfolio platform of the program: “The interdisciplinary training program for talented college students in science.” Participants in this program were supposed to show their learning portfolios on this platform. Among the 2150 registered students, we randomly selected 126 students who have made at least 3 posts to become the target sample. By identifying the learning stages and posting styles shown by their posts, we find that students are mostly in the surface learning stages and weak in completing their learning portfolios. The results suggest that more strategies should be learned in e-portfolio use. In addition, some related issues about learning performance are also discussed
Mesonic Wavefunctions in the three-dimensional Gross-Neveu model
We present results from a numerical study of bound state wavefunctions in the
(2+1)-dimensional Gross-Neveu model with staggered lattice fermions at both
zero and nonzero temperature. Mesonic channels with varying quantum numbers are
identified and analysed. In the strongly coupled chirally broken phase at T=0
the wavefunctions expose effects due to varying the interaction strength more
effectively than straightforward spectroscopy. In the weakly coupled chirally
restored phase information on fermion - antifermion scattering is recovered. In
the hot chirally restored phase we find evidence for a screened interaction.
The T=0 chirally symmetric phase is most readily distinguished from the
symmetric phase at high T via the fermion dispersion relation.Comment: 18 page
The Liquid-Gas Phase Transitions in a Multicomponent Nuclear System with Coulomb and Surface Effects
The liquid-gas phase transition is studied in a multi-component nuclear
system using a local Skyrme interaction with Coulomb and surface effects. Some
features are qualitatively the same as the results of Muller and Serot which
uses relativistic mean field without Coulomb and surface effects. Surface
tension brings the coexistance binodal surface to lower pressure. The Coulomb
interaction makes the binodal surface smaller and cause another pair of binodal
points at low pressure and large proton fraction with less protons in liquid
phase and more protons in gas phase.Comment: 20 pages including 7 postscript figure
One-Loop NMHV Amplitudes involving Gluinos and Scalars in N=4 Gauge Theory
We use Supersymmetric Ward Identities and quadruple cuts to generate n-pt
NMHV amplitudes involving gluinos and adjoint scalars from purely gluonic
amplitudes. We present a set of factors that can be used to generate one-loop
NMHV amplitudes involving gluinos or adjoint scalars in N=4 Super Yang-Mills
