Intelligent E-Learning System with Personalized Misconception Diagnose and Learning Path Guidance
In recent years, to advances network technology, IT-enabled learning and support learning are important in on-line education. More learners obtain knowledge by the Web-Learning Instruction (WBI). Learners usually induce the problem of misconception and cognitive overload when they use Web-based learning system. At present, most of the studies in the on-line education either concentrate on the technological aspect (e.g. personalization technology development) or focus on adapting learnerâs interests or browsing behaviors, while, learnerâs ability and level of knowledge is neglected. Therefore, it is important to consider learnerâs ability while designing web-based learning system. This study developed an On-line Knowledge Diagnose System (OKDS) to diagnose learnerâs misconception and provide personalized remedial guidance that based on a graphic organizer technology - concept map. The results indicate that the OKDS can effectiveness enhance learners learnerâs learning performance and learner also has positive perception of OKDS
Influence of Mesogenic Properties of Cruciform-Shaped Liquid Crystals by Incorporating Side-Arms with a Laterally-Substituted-Fluorine
[[abstract]]Fluoro substitution in thermotropic liquid crystals provides a general way of modifying the properties of a parent system. Transition temperatures, mesophase types and other physical properties can be affected by fluoro substitution, so that frequently the behaviors of the parent compound can be manipulated and improved in a predictable manner. This paper discusses the effects of a fluoro substitution in each side-arm of 1,2,4,5-tetrakis((4-(alkoxy)phenyl)ethynyl)benzenes on the resulting mesomorphic properties characterized by optical polarizing microscopy and differential scanning calorimetry. Without any fluoro-substituted side-arms, longer chain-length leads to a wider nematic temperature range on cooling. Incorporation of a fluoro substitution in each side-arm induces the formation of a lamellar suprastructure, lowers transition temperatures and results in a wider mesophase temperature range on cooling.[[sponsorship]]ćç§æ[[booktype]]é»ć
High performance entanglement-assisted quantum LDPC codes need little entanglement
Though the entanglement-assisted formalism provides a universal connection
between a classical linear code and an entanglement-assisted quantum
error-correcting code (EAQECC), the issue of maintaining large amount of pure
maximally entangled states in constructing EAQECCs is a practical obstacle to
its use. It is also conjectured that the power of entanglement-assisted
formalism to convert those good classical codes comes from massive consumption
of maximally entangled states. We show that the above conjecture is wrong by
providing families of EAQECCs with an entanglement consumption rate that
diminishes linearly as a function of the code length. Notably, two families of
EAQECCs constructed in the paper require only one copy of maximally entangled
state no matter how large the code length is. These families of EAQECCs that
are constructed from classical finite geometric LDPC codes perform very well
according to our numerical simulations. Our work indicates that EAQECCs are not
only theoretically interesting, but also physically implementable. Finally,
these high performance entanglement-assisted LDPC codes with low entanglement
consumption rates allow one to construct high-performance standard QECCs with

The Stable Association of Virion with the Triple-geneblockProtein 3-based Complex of Bamboo mosaic virus
The triple-gene-block protein 3 (TGBp3) of Bamboo mosaic virus (BaMV) is an integral endoplasmic reticulum (ER) membraneprotein which is assumed to form a membrane complex to deliver the virus intracellularly. However, the virus entity that isdelivered to plasmodesmata (PD) and its association with TGBp3-based complexes are not known. Results from chemicalextraction and partial proteolysis of TGBp3 in membrane vesicles revealed that TGBp3 has a right-side-out membranetopology; i.e., TGBp3 has its C-terminal tail exposed to the outer surface of ER. Analyses of the TGBp3-specificimmunoprecipitate of Sarkosyl-extracted TGBp3-based complex revealed that TGBp1, TGBp2, TGBp3, capsid protein (CP),replicase and viral RNA are potential constituents of virus movement complex. Substantial co-fractionation of TGBp2, TGBp3and CP, but not TGBp1, in the early eluted gel filtration fractions in which virions were detected after TGBp3-specificimmunoprecipitation suggested that the TGBp2- and TGBp3-based complex is able to stably associate with the virion. Thisnotion was confirmed by immunogold-labeling transmission electron microscopy (TEM) of the purified virions. In addition,mutational and confocal microscopy analyses revealed that TGBp3 plays a key role in virus cell-to-cell movement byenhancing the TGBp2- and TGBp3-dependent PD localization of TGBp1. Taken together, our results suggested that the cellto-cell movement of potexvirus requires stable association of the virion cargo with the TGBp2- and TGBp3-based membranecomplex and recruitment of TGBp1 to the PD by this complex
Topological surface electronic states in candidate nodal-line semimetal CaAgAs
We investigate systematically the bulk and surface electronic structure of
the candidate nodal-line semimetal CaAgAs by angle resolved photoemission
spectroscopy and density functional calculations. We observed a metallic,
linear, non--dispersive surface band that coincides with the
high-binding-energy part of the theoretical topological surface state, proving
the topological nontriviality of the system. An overall downshift of the
experimental Fermi level points to a rigid-band-like -doping of the samples,
due possibly to Ag vacancies in the as-grown crystals.Comment: 6 pages, 5 figure
The Inhibitory Effect of Ellagic Acid on Cell Growth of Ovarian Carcinoma Cells
Ellagic acid (EA) is able to inhibit the growth of several cancer cells; however, its effect on human ovarian carcinoma cells has not yet been investigated. Ovarian carcinoma ES-2 and PA-1 cells were treated with EA (10~100âÎŒM) and assessed for viability, cell cycle, apoptosis, anoikis, autophagy, and chemosensitivity to doxorubicin and their molecular mechanisms. EA inhibited cell proliferation in a dose- and time-dependent manner by arresting both cell lines at the G1 phase of the cell cycle, which were from elevating p53 and Cip1/p21 and decreasing cyclin D1 and E levels. EA also induced caspase-3-mediated apoptosis by increasing the Baxâ:âBcl-2 ratio and restored anoikis in both cell lines. The enhancement of apoptosis and/or inhibition of autophagy in these cells by EA assisted the chemotherapy efficacy. The results indicated that EA is a potential novel chemoprevention and treatment assistant agent for human ovarian carcinoma
Outcomes at late childhood of Chinese-speaking preschoolers with developmental language disorders comorbid with behavioral-emotional
As part of an ongoing clinical service program for children with developmental delay in morphosyllabic Chinese-speaking Taiwan, we investigated the late childhood cognitive, functional and psychiatric outcomes of a specific cohort of preschool children with developmental language delay comorbi d wi th behavi oral-emoti onal problems. The institutional database of a developmental clinic was reviewed and preschoolers
meeting the inclusion criteria were invited to be subjects. Follow-up evaluations included Wechsler Intelligence tests, parentsâ version of the Child Behavioral Checklist and psychiatric interview of the adolescents themselves. Of the eligible subjects (initial preschool visit at average of 3.8 ± 1.3 years old), 44 individuals completed follow-up evaluations at average of 11.8 ± 1.5 years old. The follow-up results showed that 75% of the late childhood children still had problems in language and 38.6% had problems in academic performance.
The mean nonverbal cognitive score at follow-up was 83.9 ± 15.4 while the mean verbal cognitive measure was 83 ±17.3. Total 75% of the subjects had current psychiatric disorders and the most frequent di agnosi s was attenti on defici t/hyperactivity disorder, which was noted to be increased from 50% in the preschool period to 70.5% in late childhood. We concluded that the majority of Chinese-speaking preschoolers with language delay and behavioral-emotional problems turned out to have communication and psychiatric conditions when they reached late childhood. Western researches on developmental course of preschool children with alphabetic language impairment could be extended to morphosyllabic Chinese. Specialized services are warranted for this group of preschool children to lessen prolonged vulnerabilities. Our findings may be helpful in the context of an Asian developing country, so that priorities can be established for the allocation of finite resources for intervention
