On BPS bounds in D=4 N=2 gauged supergravity II: general matter couplings and black hole masses
We continue the analysis of BPS bounds started in arXiv:1110.2688, extending
it to the full class of N=2 gauged supergravity theories with arbitrary vector
and hypermultiplets. We derive the general form of the asymptotic charges for
asymptotically flat (M_4), anti-de Sitter (AdS_4), and magnetic anti-de Sitter
(mAdS_4) spacetimes. Some particular examples from black hole physics are given
to explicitly demonstrate how AdS and mAdS masses differ when solutions with

Non-Financial Resources to Enhance Companiesâ Profitability: A Stakeholder Perspective
Purpose
This study aims to investigate the impact of stakeholdersâ nonfinancial resources (NFRs) on companiesâ profitability, filling a significant gap in the literature regarding the role of NFRs in value creation.
Design/methodology/approach
Data from 76 organizations from 2017 to 2019 were collected and analyzed. Four primary NFRs and their key value drivers were identified, representing core elements that support different dimensions of a companyâs performance. Statistical tests examined the relationship between stakeholdersâ NFRs and financial performance measures.
Findings
When analyzed collectively and individually, the results reveal a significant positive influence of stakeholdersâ NFRs on a firmâs profitability. Higher importance assigned to NFRs correlates with a higher return on sales.
Originality/value
This study contributes to the literature by empirically bridging the gap between stakeholder theory and the resource-based view, addressing the intersection of these perspectives. It also provides novel insights into how stakeholdersâ NFRs impact profitability, offering valuable implications for research and managerial practice. It suggests that managers should integrate nonfinancial measures of NFRs within their performance measurement system to manage better and sustain companiesâ value-creation process
Cognitive biases in implementing a performance management system: behavioral strategy for supporting managersâ decision-making processes
Purpose The purpose of this paper is twofold: to provide a clear picture on the cognitive biases affecting managers' decision-making process of implementing a performance management system (PMS), and to identify managerial practices, measures and the key challenges to manage the cognitive biases in the corporate strategy. Design/methodology/approach Semi-structured interviews, based on theoretical milestones of performance management and cognitive psychology, gathered from 104 experienced professionals' evaluations on the likelihood and impact of managers' cognitive biases in PMS implementation, potential solutions as well as drivers and connected criticalities. Findings Recurring cognitive biases, together with considerable impacts, emerged in the first, and most strategic, phases of the PMS implementation. The authors developed a roadmap to support corporate transition to integrate behavioral strategy into the PMS implementation aiming to achieve economically and efficiently sound performance. Research limitations/implications From the view of proper behavioral strategy affirmation in performance management literature, in a small way, the authors contribute to a desirable taxonomy of cognitive biases so differentiated decision-making scenarios may be built to compare results and draw new observations. Behavioral studies could transversally connect the cognitive biases of performance management to actors' sociodemographic features and personality types. Practitioners may check biases affecting their organizations by means of the questionnaire and, consequently, adopt the framework illustrated to reduce them. Originality/value Performance management literature has constantly investigated positive and negative behavioral factors related to the PMS. This study, instead, makes a theoretical and methodological contribution to the PMS implementation as a decision-making process. Kappa and lambda immunohistochemistry and in situ hybridization in the evaluation of atypical cutaneous lymphoid infiltrates
BackgroundAtypical cutaneous lymphoid infiltrates are challenging lesions in dermatopathology. We present a summary of the literature regarding kappa and lambda immunohistochemistry (IHC) and in situ hybridization (ISH) in the evaluation of atypical cutaneous or mucosal lymphoid infiltrates.MethodsRelevant articles from 1967 to 2018 in the English language were identified and summarized. In the absence of larger studies, case series of nââ„â3 were included.ResultsSixtyâthree articles assessing kappa and lambda IHC and/or ISH were identified. Most focused on marginal zone lymphomas. Other lymphomas included follicle center lymphoma, diffuse large Bâcell lymphoma, chronic lymphocytic leukemia/small lymphocytic lymphoma, mantle cell lymphoma, lymphoplasmacytic lymphoma, plasmablastic lymphoma, multiple myeloma, monoclonal gammopathy of undetermined significance, and polyneuropathy, organomegaly, endocrinopathy, monoclonal protein, skin changes (POEMS). Nonâneoplastic lesions included reactive lymphoid hyperplasia, cutaneous plasmacytosis, connective tissue disease, IgG4ârelated disease, acrodermatitis chronic atrophicans, Zoon balanitis, dermatitides, and infiltrates around epithelial dysplasias/neoplasias.ConclusionKappa and lambda IHC and ISH are useful tools in the evaluation of cutaneous Bâcell lymphomas and plasma cell neoplasms. The role of the environmental dimension in the performance management system: A systematic review and conceptual framework
The issues of sustainable development and green practices have received increased attention in recent decades. More and more companies are moving towards a strategic approach designed to integrate environmental considerations into their strategies. Nevertheless, a difficulty still remains in the strategic alignment between the environmental dimension of sustainability and performance management system (PMS). In this context, a 'state-of-the-art' analysis of related literature was used to support future research to develop integration of effective approaches and solutions. To achieve this objective, the authors sought to develop a clear picture about the key drivers of the integration process between the environmental dimension and PMS, and to identify the missing concepts, research challenges and opportunities. The authors systematically reviewed 71 English-language scientific papers published between 2002 and 2020, and identified the missing concepts by means of content analysis. The authors found a growing trend in the 18-year period of increasing theoretical research on environmental issues, but a gap was found in developing practical solutions. The findings were used to develop a conceptual model for integrating environmental drivers that emerged from the analysis in an early stage of strategy formulation, through a scorecard-based tool aimed at supporting strategic alignment. This study provides a novel and original framework for exploring environment aspect and PMS approach. We also propose a future research agenda and useful recommendations for scholars and practitioners. It lays a firm foundation for future studies and research debates. (C) 2021 Elsevier Ltd. Wake structure and kinematics in two insectivorous bats
We compare kinematics and wake structure over a range of flight speeds (4.0â8.2 m s(â1)) for two bats that pursue insect prey aerially, Tadarida brasiliensis and Myotis velifer. Body mass and wingspan are similar in these species, but M. velifer has broader wings and lower wing loading. By using high-speed videography and particle image velocimetry of steady flight in a wind tunnel, we show that three-dimensional kinematics and wake structure are similar in the two species at the higher speeds studied, but differ at lower speeds. At lower speeds, the two species show significant differences in mean angle of attack, bodyâwingtip distance and sweep angle. The distinct body vortex seen at low speed in T. brasiliensis and other bats studied to date is considerably weaker or absent in M. velifer. We suggest that this could be influenced by morphology: (i) the narrower thorax in this species probably reduces the body-induced discontinuity in circulation between the two wings and (ii) the wing loading is lower, hence the lift coefficient required for weight support is lower. As a result, in M. velifer, there may be a decreased disruption in the lift generation between the body and the wing, and the strength of the characteristic root vortex is greatly diminished, both suggesting increased flight efficiency. How Do Tiger Moths Jam Bat Sonar?
The tiger moth Bertholdia trigona is the only animal in nature known to defend itself by jamming the sonar of its predators â bats. In this study we analyzed the three-dimensional flight paths and echolocation behavior of big brown bats (Eptesicus fuscus) attacking B. trigona in a flight room over seven consecutive nights to determine the acoustic mechanism of the sonar-jamming defense. Three mechanisms have been proposed: (1) the phantom echo hypothesis, which states that bats misinterpret moth clicks as echoes; (2) the ranging interference hypothesis, which states that moth clicks degrade the bats\u27 precision in determining target distance; and (3) the masking hypothesis, which states that moth clicks mask the moth echoes entirely, making the moth temporarily invisible. On nights one and two of the experiment, the bats appeared startled by the clicks; however, on nights three through seven, the bats frequently missed their prey by a distance predicted by the ranging interference hypothesis (âŒ15â20 cm). Three-dimensional simulations show that bats did not avoid phantom targets, and the bats\u27 ability to track clicking prey contradicts the predictions of the masking hypothesis. The moth clicks also forced the bats to reverse their stereotyped pattern of echolocation emissions during attack, even while bats continued pursuit of the moths. This likely further hinders the bats\u27 ability to track prey. These results have implications for the evolution of sonar jamming in tiger moths, and we suggest evolutionary pathways by which sonar jamming may have evolved from other tiger moth defense mechanisms
