Trends in control area of PLC reliability and safety parameters

    Get PDF
Extension of the PLC application possibilities is closely related to increase of reliability and safety parameters. If the requirement of reliability and safety parameters will be suitable, the PLC could by implemented to specific applications such the safety-related processes control. The goal of this article is to show the way which producers are approaching to increase PLC`s reliability and safety parameters. The second goal is to analyze these parameters for range of present choice and describe the possibility how the reliability and safety parameters can be affected

Learning Search Algorithms: An Educational View

Artificial intelligence methods find their practical usage in many applications including maritime industry. The paper concentrates on the methods of uninformed and informed search, potentially usable in solving of complex problems based on the state space representation. The problem of introducing the search algorithms to newcomers has its technical and psychological dimensions. The authors show how it is possible to cope with both of them through design and use of specialized authoring systems. A typical example of searching a path through the maze is used to demonstrate how to test, observe and compare properties of various search strategies. Performance of search methods is evaluated based on the common criteria

Parallel robot controlled by PLC and its digital twin

Modern ways of device development use the concept of a digital twin. A digital twin is an accurate digital copy of something that exists or is planned to be realized in the physical world. The digital twin is not only a virtual model of the physical system, but also a dynamic data and status information carrier obtained through a series of IoT-connected sensors that collect data from the physical world and send it to machines. The digital twin provides an overview of what is happening to the device in real time. This is very important in industry as this information is helpful to reduce maintenance issues and ensure production performance. This work focuses on the design and creation of a cybernetic physical system and its digital twin, based on CAD system modeling in conjunction with simulation and programming tools connected to real and simulated control systems. This process accelerates the development of the application implementation with the possibility to create a PLC control program and tune the system already in the design phase. Thus, the physical realization can be done in parallel with the programming and creation of the HMI interface. Modular programming will further accelerate software development [1]. The created system and its digital twin serve as a unified teaching tool without the need for real devices to be used by many students and users. This approach allows testing of program algorithms without the risk of damaging physical devices and is also suitable for distance learning

Safety related control systems for railway signalling applications with a safety PLC

    No full text
Nowadays, there are available on the market not only standard PLCs (Programmable Logic Controller) but also safety PLC´s. These are primarily designed for industrial applications. Their guaranteed safety properties, however, enable to be used in applications, in which the usage of PLC has not been common until now. The aim of this article is to focus on problems related to the usage of safety PLC in railway signalling systems

Comparison of different approaches to predict air pollution inside the tunnel tube

    No full text
This paper deals with models of air pollution inside a tunnel tube. Various gases are emitted by combustion engines. They consist largely of oxides of nitrogen, carbon monoxide, steam and particles (opacity). Since each tunnel is unique, the design of the model must be realized for the particular road tunnel. Data measured in the control center of the tunnel is used to create various models and to realize them in the program environment MATLAB. It is possible to describe this system by description of the equations of physical dependences. These physical dependencies are between the speeds, piston effect, traffic density, quantity produced pollution, etc. Next we plan to show how fuzzy sets can be used to represent a real system. Finally, we are going to describe this system by the parametric model. For the purpose of parametric identification it is interesting to describe the sought process using input-output relations. The general procedure for estimation of the process model consists of several steps: determination of the model structure, estimation of parameters and verification of the model
